——Listening and Speaking——
1.Would you like something to drink/eat, ma'am
2.What kind of meat would you like, sir We have pork, beef, and fish.
3.You can enjoy the beautiful view of the garden while eating.
4.It's 90 yuan, with 10% service charge included. Enjoy your meal.
1.Can we get a table near the window, please
2.Fish for the soup and beef with the vegetables, please.
3.Give me some coffee, please. No milk, no sugar.
4.I'd like to have coffee with milk, and my friend wants orange juice. How much should I pay

HEALTHY EATING
There is much debate nowadays as to what makes up a healthy diet1. For example, scientists have insisted for years that2 a big enemy of health is fatty food. However, there is increasing evidence that3 the real driver of poor health is not so much fatty food, as it is4 sugar. Heart disease is the number one killer of Americans. And in America, people who receive 25% of their daily calories or more through sugar5 are twice as likely to die from heart disease than people who receive less than 10% a day6(Journal of the American Medical Association, 2014).This is true regardless of how7 healthy the rest of their diet might be. Put more simply, while8 people continue to argue over whether or not fatty food is dangerous9 , we already know that sugar is a killer10. Much of this extra sugar comes from sweets and sweet drinks. The average American gets 1/3 of his or her sugar through sweet drinks11 alone. The American Heart Association recommends that12 we limit ourselves to less than 100-150 calories a day from sugar, which13 is less than what14 is usually contained in one can of sweet drink or in a single candy bar. In other words, if you want to be healthy15, you have to cut down on desserts, and16 cut out sweet drinks altogether. Beyond this, you can keep healthy by consuming different categories of fresh foods17, especially fruit and vegetables, which18 are full of vitamins and fibre, rather than19 processed foods. Processed foods often contain less nutrition, and20 have higher quantities of sugar, salt, and fat than fresh ingredients. Besides this, it is also important to have21some meat, beans, or dairy products in your diet, as they provide the necessary protein for strong bones and muscle growth22. As with everything in life, moderation is key. The ideal diet is a balanced one, without too much or too little of any one thing. Finally, a fundamental key to healthy eating is to eat23 slowly. It24 takes about twenty minutes from the time you start eating25for your brain to tell your body26that27 you are full. What this means28 is that29 people who chew too quickly30 end up eating too much food because they still feel hungry31. Eating32 slowly also allows your body to digest your food better, and will allow you to enjoy your food more. In addition, studies show that33 consistent eating habits, for example, taking three meals a day at the same time each day34 , are better for our health. It35 is also better to eat a modest amount of food each time, rather than to eat a lot in one meal, and then a little in the next36. There is no one trick to healthy eating. Rather, healthy eating starts with having a healthy attitude towards food. One question you can ask yourself37 is, “Do I eat to live, or live to eat?” If38 you are using food mostly for nutrition, then you are on the right track with your diet. However, if39 food has become the centre of your life, you might be on the road to bad health. It is up to you to decide40how41 you want to live, and42 to make the right decisions about your diet.

1.The American Heart Association recommends that we limit ourselves to less than 100-150 calories a day from sugar, which is less than what is usually contained in one can of sweet drink or in a single candy bar.(教材P32) 美国心脏协会建议我们将每日糖摄入量限制在100至150卡路里以下,少于一听甜饮料或一块糖果通常所含的糖分。
The American Heart Association recommends+that从句,是“主谓宾”结构。

It is also better。It作形式主语,不定式短语to eat ... in the next作真正的主语;rather than 意为“而不是”,常用于连接两个相同的成分;and连接并列宾语a lot in one meal和a little in the next。

The only thing separating my two worlds is the Rio Grande River—it might not be much, but it's enough for me to feel a big difference in customs and values. People who are not from El Paso, Texas, United States or a border city might not understand what it's like to grow up between two places at once.
I grew up in a Mexican household. My dad was born in El Paso but lived nearly his entire life in Ciudad Juarez until I was born, and my mom was born and raised in Mexico. She didn't move to the US until she had me, when she was 28. My first language was Spanish, but my parents did not want me in bilingual classes. So, instead, it was all English for me at school.
English was all I spoke among friends at school, while Spanish was the designated language with family, and I hardly ever mixed them. I also spent a lot of time with my maternal grandparents, who lived in Juarez and you could say helped raise and shape who I am today. It's thanks to them that I perfected my Spanish, learned to read and write in that language—despite never taking classes—and fell in love with my Mexican culture by traveling to Mexico City and around the country.
Along with being bilingual came a sense of having a double identity. I enjoyed watching Spanish TV series with my grandma as much as American series such as The Amanda Show. And the same went for music. I loved listening to Spanish singers, as much as American pop singers.
It wasn't until high school that I began to meet other people whose backgrounds I could relate to. I was introduced to friends with whom I identified because they were Mexican American and who had also been raised in El Paso but often visited family in Juarez. It was also during these years that I started going out to party in Juarez.
Growing up on the border is pretty special. Thanks to my bicultural upbringing, I learned to enjoy and appreciate both sides of me without ever questioning who I am, because the truth is that I need both of those relationships and cultural identities to feel complete.

Austrian based food tech startup Revo Foods announced this week that its 3D printed vegan fish filet (素食鱼片) was heading to European grocery store shelves—a first for 3D printed food. According to the company's September 12 press release, the arrival of the “Filet” represents a key moment in sustainable food, with 3D printed consumables ready for industrial mass production. Revo Foods' Filet is likely to be just the first of many other such 3D printed edible (可食用的) products to soon hit the market.
“Despite dramatic losses of coral reefs and increasing levels of poisons and microplastics polluting fish, consumer demand for seafood has skyrocketed in recent decades,” the company announcement explains. “One promising solution to provide consumers with sustainable alternatives that do not contribute to overfishing is vegan seafood. The key to the success of these products lies in recreating a real taste that appeals to consumers.”
The composition of the Filet provides a meat like texture (口感). 12 ingredients (成分) compose Revo's Filet, such as pea proteins, plant oils and algae extracts. With its high protein and Omega 3 contents, eating a Revo Filet is still very much like eating regular salmon. And thanks to its plant based ingredients, the Filet has a three week shelf life, a significant improvement over regular salmon products.
“With the milestone of industrial scale 3D food printing, we are entering a creative food revolution, an era where food is being made exactly according to the customers' needs,” Revo Foods CEO Robin Simsa said via this week's announcement.
While Revo's products are currently only available for European markets, the company says it is actively working to expand its availability across the globe, with Simsa telling PopSci the company hopes to enter US markets around 2025.

A.It is a kind of seafood.
B.It has a longer shelf life.
C.It has the same taste as salmon.
D.It has no food quality problems.

I participated in an exchange program where a Spanish student, Jenny, firstly came to live in my home for a few weeks and then I went to live in hers in Spain. I was somewhat nervous but mostly excited about the upcoming experience.
After the initial excitement, cultural differences began to affect me, causing me to feel anxious and homesick. What made culture shock difficult to deal with was the language barrier. My Spanish skills were not at the level of being able to express how I feel clearly.
The most difficult challenge was adjusting to the food and meal time. I usually had dinner at 6:00 pm in China, but in Spain we had it at 10:00 pm when I was very hungry! I was a picky eater, and while I ate meat, I still wasn't very adventurous. But there was a lot of meat in Spanish dishes. There were little kinds of vegetables in their dishes and potatoes were their favourite.
One night, I asked what we were going to eat. Since I didn't know the Spanish word “conejo” they used, the entire family started acting like rabbits at the dinner table in an effort to help me understand its meaning. I was shocked. But in order not to bother them, I didn't mention anything about my inadaptation.
When going back to my room after dinner, I just wanted to curl up alone and missed the delicious dumplings my mother made in my hometown. As there was no Chinese restaurant nearby, what I could do was to draw dumplings on papers as if I had eaten them and threw them into the dustbin.

When back from school the next day, I was amazed by what I had seen. There were several dishes of dumplings on the table which were similar to the dumplings I drew yesterday. Jenny's family were looking at me with big smiles. Seeing my confused look, Jenny explained in both Spanish and gestures that she happened to see my papers in the dustbin and told her family about my homesickness. After discussion, they decided to make dumplings for me to relieve it. “This is our first time to make dumplings. We hope you will like them,” said Jenny.
Hearing what Jenny said, tears welled up in my eyes. I hugged Jenny and expressed my heartfelt gratitude. Then I picked one of the dumplings up and had a taste in their expecting eyes. Even though the stuffing was only potato, I felt it very delicious and gave a thumbs up. All of us enjoyed a wonderful dinner together. From that day on, I also made up my mind to leave my comfort zone and try new things. I often thought of that special dinner after many years. It was their kindness that made me feel the warmth of family and I will treasure it with all my heart.

Recently, the news that a school in Ganzhou, Jiangxi, serves pre-made meals to its students has sparked heated discussions across the country. People doubt if pre-made meals, despite being convenient, are healthy and nutritious enough for growing teenagers.
Pre-made meals refer to half-finished or finished dishes that are already cooked or prepared, according to the China Cuisine Association. There are several types of pre-made foods, including ready-to-eat food, such as canned food or cooked food in packages, and ready to heat or ready-to cook food, which requires heating or cooking before being served.
Many people tend to think that ready to heat and ready to cook foods are less nutritious because they usually need to be kept in refrigerators. “Actually freezing does not cause a loss of nutrients,” Liu Junya, a 33 year old dietitian in Beijing said. “Nutrient loss typically occurs during the heating or frying process.”
Vitamins from the B group and vitamin C found in meat and vegetables are heat sensitive and can be lost during the process. By being heated or cooked twice or more, “pre made foods can be less nutritious than freshly prepared and cooked foods,” Liu said.
Meanwhile, “many pre made food companies prioritize taste over nutrition,” said Liu. This leads to higher levels of salt and sugar in the food, which may lead to health problems, such as high blood pressure in the long term.
Additives (添加剂) are also a major concern related to pre made food. In China, there are strict standards for food additives. Currently, China's food industry has well-developed techniques to preserve pre made food without the excessive use of additives. Some food can be sterilized (消毒) and then sealed (密封) after cooking, followed by low temperature storage, allowing for a longer shelf life. However, it's essential that customers buy pre made meals from qualified food companies or supermarkets.
“It is hoped that regulations on pre made meals can be strengthened to better ensure nutrition and hygiene (卫生). This way, pre made meals will be more accepted by the public,” Liu said.

As the saying goes, bread is the staff of life. Eating healthily and deliciously is the goal we pursue.
Like most people from the North, cooked wheaten food is always my favorite. I often have noodles for breakfast, steamed bread or pancakes for lunch and supper. Besides, I eat vegetables every day and I like seafood though it is a little expensive. What's more, I often go out for good meals with my families and friends, and we often eat meat dishes there.
It's necessary for us to form healthy eating habits. First of all, having breakfast on time as breakfast is very important to our health. In addition, we'd better eat less junk food and more fresh vegetables. In a word, we should pay attention to our eating habits from now on and live a healthier life.

Finally, a fundamental key to healthy eating is to eat23 slowly. It24 takes about twenty minutes from the time you start eating25 for your brain to tell your body26 that27 you are full. What this means28 is that29 people who chew too quickly30 end up eating too much food because they still feel hungry31.

42 连接两个并列宾语to live和to make ... your diet
There is no one trick to healthy eating. Rather, healthy eating starts with having a healthy attitude towards food. One question you can ask yourself 37 is, “Do I eat to live, or live to eat?” If 38 you are using food mostly for nutrition, then you are on the right track with your diet. However, if 39 food has become the centre of your life, you might be on the road to bad health. It is up to you to decide40 how41 you want to live, and42 to make the right decisions about your diet.

1.The American Heart Association recommends that we limit ourselves to less than 100-150 calories a day from sugar, which is less than what is usually contained in one can of sweet drink or in a single candy bar.(教材P32)

Austrian-based food-tech startup Revo Foods announced this week that its 3D printed vegan fish filet (素食鱼片) was heading to European grocery store shelves—a first for 3D printed food. According to the company's September 12 press release, the arrival
of the “Filet” represents a key moment in sustainable food, with 3D printed consumables ready for industrial mass production.

1.What can we learn about pre made meals from the article
A.They are typically costly and flavorful.
B.They are rich in a large number of vitamins.
C.They taste better than homemade food.
D.They are already partially or fully cooked.
2.According to Liu Junya, when does nutrient loss typically occur in pre made foods
A.During freezing. B.During cooking.
C.During packaging. D.During sales.
根据第三段中的“Nutrient loss typically occurs during the heating or frying process.”
3.What is one of the key recommendations for consumers regarding pre made meals
A.Buy from reliable sources.
B.Check the cooking instructions.
C.Keep pre made meals frozen.
D.Pay attention to the additives used.
根据倒数第二段中的“However, it's essential that ... food companies or supermarkets.” 故选A。
4.What does Liu Junya think of pre made meals
A.They are a convenient choice for all.
B.They are suitable for daily life.
C.They can be nutritious if properly regulated.
D.They are best avoided for long term health.
根据最后一段“‘It is hoped that regulations ... will be more accepted by the public,’ Liu said.(‘人们希望加强对预制食品的监管,以更好地确保营养和卫生。这样,预制餐将更容易被公众接受,’刘说。)”可推知,刘俊亚认为如果监管得当,预制餐能富含营养。故选C。

Mid Autumn Festival is one of the most important festivals in the Chinese calendar. The festival typically involves family getting together to share mooncakes while watching the moon. Typical Chinese mooncakes are round in shape, and measure around 10 cm in diameter and 4-5 cm in thickness. Most mooncakes consist of a thin tender skin enveloping a sweet, dense filling. __1__. It is a custom for housewives to prepare mooncakes at home when the festival is approaching. Now let's learn to make traditional Chinese mooncakes.
Above all, full preparations should be made, including materials such as flour, water, sugar and vegetable oil, and fillings—lotus seed paste (莲蓉) and eggs.
Mix together all the materials to get a dough (生面团). __2__.
Next, separate the egg yolks from the whites and salt the steamed yolks. While the oven is preheating to 180 degrees Celsius, roll the lotus paste and the dough into small balls. __3__.
Then, shape up with each consisting of a dough wrapper, one ball of lotus paste, and one half of a salted egg yolk. Make a hole in a ball of lotus paste and put the yolk inside. Similarly, cover the lotus paste ball (with the yolk inside) with a wrapper. __4__. Then shape it with the mold (模具).
