The French couple Katia and Maurice Krafft, shared an attraction to volcanoes (火山), one that perhaps approached an addiction. There are many people interested in volcanoes, but very few who are willing to climb an erupting crater (喷发的火山口) and approach the flowing lava (岩浆). Katia and Maurice did a lot of work, shooting photographs and films of volcano eruptions, always being the first on the scene of an active volcano, and the ones who fearlessly came to just a few feet from lava flows. They were not only highly respected by volcanologists (火山学家) all around the world, but also envied.
The couple met in the 1960s when they were both students at the University of Strasbourg, and got married in 1970. Both of them were attracted to volcanoes since childhood. Upon graduating, Katia and Maurice pursued their careers as volcano observers with no financial support at all, just their own savings, which they spent on a trip to Stromboli to observe the eruption of the volcano.
They took an incredible and valuable set of photographs of the near continuous eruption. People were curious about the photographs, while public officials working on threatening volcanoes found them useful. This interest in their work helped the French couple to establish a career in documenting eruptions. Now able to obtain financial support for their work, Katia and Maurice visited hundreds, if not thousands, of volcanoes around the globe. They traveled and recorded eruptions, always getting closer to the danger than anyone else.
In June 1991, along with 40 other people, the Kraffts set out to film the eruption at Mount Unzen in Japan. A sudden and unexpected flow took place and all the people in its path were killed. Later investigation revealed that Katia's and Maurice's bodies were closest to the volcano crater. They were 44 and 45 years old respectively.
In their 25 year long career, the couple documented hundreds of volcanoes, and their work consists of thousands of still photos, 300 hours off film materials, a number of books, and scientific articles published in Bulletin of Volcanology.
24.When did the couple start their career as volcano observers
A.As children. B.While studying at college.
C.When leaving university. D.After getting married.

A.They focused on threatening volcanoes.

A.The couple didn't get prepared before setting out.
B.The couple had been married for 25 years before the accident.
C.The couple made a great fortune (财富) with what they shot.
D.The couple went ahead of the rest at the last minute.
27.Which of the following can best describe the couple

“We don't mind using GPS,” says our Aboriginal guide Baamba in his Australian accent, as he looks out across the wilderness which belongs to his tribe. The red ground ahead is covered with bushes and trees. Although it's early, it's already 30 degrees in the shade. It's a difficult hike, but Baamba is a sensible guide: he always carries a satellite phone in his backpack in case of emergencies. His ancestors, however, relied on songs.
The early Australian Aborigines made the land navigable (可航行的) through songs, dance and paintings. The songs described pathways or “songlines”, which provided an oral “map” of the land. They showed people where to find a water hole, where there was a river and where they could hunt. Generations of Aboriginals followed these pathways, leaving clear marks and carvings on rocks and trees to help future travelers. “But the songs describe more than a pathway,” explains Baamba. “They also tell stories about how the world was created.” According to Aboriginal stories, the world was created, when giant beings, part human, part animal, came down from the sky. From across the sea and from deep in the earth.
One of the many sacred sites called Arkaroo Rock was mentioned in the songs and stories about the land. These songs and stories show the close relationship between the native people and their environment, how they saw themselves as part of nature rather than master of it, and how their way of life resulted in a valuable knowledge of their land. It was a way of life with more than 2,000 generations. It was a way of life that was safe from invasion and influence until 1788.
________ Sadly, this destroyed their ancient way of life, and many Aboriginal songlines were lost. Today, people like Baamba are trying to restore this heritage and preserve it.
It's late now and Baamba is waiting outside Arkaroo Rock. Inside, we're admiring the beautiful cave paintings, but as soon as we have taken some photos, we leave. Dark clouds are visible on the horizon—there are already flashes of lightning and thunder in the distance. As we drive away, the wind blows through the trees, and we can almost hear the voices of those first Australians, singing the songs of their ancestors, and following the songlines.
28.Why does the writer mention Baamba's ancestors' songs in Paragraph 1
A.To promote these songs' special culture.
B.To draw readers' attention to the theme.
C.To show off the old but advanced songs.
D.To advertise the place's tourist attractions.
29.What can we know about songlines according to the passage
A.Songlines were printed maps of die land.
B.Songlines were mainly used to help hunters.
C.Songlines were a symbol of bravery of the Aborigines.
D.Songlines played a key role in finding people's way around.
30.What will the author most probably talk about in the blank of Paragraph 4
A.Songlines were negatively influenced by strange tourists.
B.The Aborigines experienced a terrible natural disaster in 1788.
C.The Aborigines celebrated their victories for defeating the enemy.
D.Foreigners' invasion since 1788 resulted in the natives' life destroyed.
31.What is the best title of the passage
A.Guidelines B.Songlines
C.Exploration D.Tradition

第二节(满分25分)

Daniel and Lucas are twins. They are teenagers, studying in the same class. Their teenage life is rich and colorful. Tony is their grandpa, whose age is 70 this year. The two grandsons like to take exercise with their grandpa and even go out on adventures.
In the summer of last year, they paid a visit to Stone Mountain Park with their grandpa. They had the opportunity to spend the day with their grandpa, seeing the various beautiful sights and attractions. One thing that three of them had really desired to do was climb to the top of the mountain. Stone Mountain isn't a very high mountain and fortunately there are some walking routes to the top of it, but for the two teenagers, along with a rather old grandpa, it's a difficult task.
Daniel and Lucas were much more interested in the walk than their grandpa, and they viewed it as an exciting adventure. But climbing the mountain was a rather big challenge for Tony, who was old and thin. He decided to start the slow walk up to the mountain.
It seemed like that Tony was taking forever to climb just a short distance, but considering his personal safety, he had to remind himself that it took him two steps to equal his grandsons' one step. When he walked closer to his grandsons, he had to stop for a while to regain energy, and then tried to catch up with them, over and over again.
Tony was very tired. He just wanted to arrive at the top of the mountain as soon as possible to enjoy the beauty of the mountain top. But the twin grandsons were not focused at all on the trial of climbing the mountain. On the contrary, they were simply enjoying the journey of the walk. They enjoyed all that they had seen and all that they had heard along the way up to the top of the mountain. They stopped now and then to look at every large rock and observe the unusual plant formations. Suddenly, they found a strange plant. Daniel called out, “Grandpa, here is a special plant. Come and have a look.”
注意:
1.续写词数应为150个左右;
2.请按如下格式在相应位置作答。
Tony was hurrying towards his grandsons when he fell down. Daniel and Lucas wondered how to get their grandpa to the top of the mountain.

A Symbol of China
[精彩范文]
A Symbol of China
Among the many symbols representing China and its unique culture, the Great Wall is top on my recommendation list.
The Great Wall is one of the greatest miracles created by the ancient Chinese as the witness of China's long history. Originally built by Qin Shi Huang and expanded and strengthened in the Ming Dynasty, it became the world's largest military structure. And its historic and strategic importance is matched only by its architectural significance, making it a symbol of the unity and strength of the Chinese people.
The Great Wall is now the biggest tourist attraction in China. Chairman Mao once said, “He who fails to reach the Great Wall is not a true man.” So come and experience it at first hand.
第二节(满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
注意:
1.续写词数应为150个左右;
2.请按如下格式在相应位置作答。
Tony was hurrying towards his grandsons when he fell down. Daniel and Lucas wondered how to get their grandpa to the top of the mountain.
Tony was hurrying towards his grandsons when he fell down. He looked down and saw his foot caught on a tree root. He tried to stand up but failed. Daniel and Lucas waited for some time and then looked back, only to find their grandpa struggling to stand on his feet. They put aside their curiosity, running quickly towards their grandpa. Daniel kept comforting him nervously. Meanwhile, Lucas tore off the root and examined Tony's feet. There were no wounds but Tony was unable to walk.
Daniel and Lucas wondered how to get their grandpa to the top of the mountain. Facing the sudden problem, they responded positively. Lucas who knew the first aid knowledge treated Tony's feet. Then, seeing their grandpa really wanted to reach the top, he said happily, “Why don't we take turns carrying our grandpa to the top of the mountain?” Daniel said OK immediately. In this way, they finally enjoyed the great scenery on the mountaintop.

“We don’t mind using GPS,” says our Aboriginal guide Baamba in his Australian accent, as he looks out across the wilderness which belongs to his tribe. The red ground ahead is covered with bushes and trees. Although it’s early, it’s already 30 degrees in the shade. It’s a difficult hike, but Baamba is a sensible guide: he always carries a satellite phone in his backpack in case of emergencies.
It’s late now and Baamba is waiting outside Arkaroo Rock. Inside, we’re admiring the beautiful cave paintings, but as soon as we have taken some photos, we leave. Dark clouds are visible on the horizon—there are already flashes of lightning and thunder in the distance. As we drive away, the wind blows through the trees, and we can almost hear the voices of those first Australians, singing the songs of their ancestors, and following the songlines.

A Symbol of China
Among the many symbols representing China and its unique culture, the Great Wall is top on my recommendation list.
The Great Wall is one of the greatest miracles created by the ancient Chinese as the witness of China’s long history. Originally built by Qin Shi Huang and expanded and strengthened in the Ming Dynasty, it became the world’s largest military structure.
Daniel and Lucas are twins. They are teenagers, studying in the same class. Their teenage life is rich and colorful. Tony is their grandpa, whose age is 70 this year. The two grandsons like to take exercise with their grandpa and even go out on adventures.
In the summer of last year, they paid a visit to Stone Mountain Park with their grandpa. They had the opportunity to spend the day with their grandpa, seeing the various beautiful sights and attractions. One thing that three of them had really desired to do was climb to the top of the mountain. Stone Mountain isn’t a very high mountain and fortunately there are some walking routes to the top of it, but for the two teenagers, along with a rather old grandpa, it’s a difficult task.
Daniel and Lucas were much more interested in the walk than their grandpa, and they viewed it as an exciting adventure. But climbing the mountain was a rather big challenge for Tony, who was old and thin. He decided to start the slow walk up to the mountain.
It seemed like that Tony was taking forever to climb just a short distance, but considering his personal safety, he had to remind himself that it took him two steps to equal his grandsons’ one step.
注意:
1.续写词数应为150个左右;
2.请按如下格式在相应位置作答。
Tony was hurrying towards his grandsons when he fell down.﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍

Lucas who knew the first aid knowledge treated Tony’s feet. Then, seeing their grandpa really wanted to reach the top, he said happily, “Why don’t we take turns carrying our grandpa to the top of the mountain?” Daniel said OK immediately. In this way, they finally enjoyed the great scenery on the mountaintop.
