Four years ago, Rome Leykin was on his way to work when he accidentally fell onto the tracks of Brooklyn’s train as a subway was approaching. The incident resulted in the loss of both of his legs.
But surprisingly, with the loss of his legs, Leykin gained a new passion for racing. Before his accident, he wasn’t really that athletic. He would just occasionally play basketball. But that all changed after he was introduced to handcycling. “When I saw it, I was like, ‘Oh, this is great. You don’t even need legs to use it. This is perfect.’” he said. “So, I got on it; I rode and fell in love with it right away.”
Within a few months, he completed the TD Five Boro Bike Tour, a 40-mile ride through New York City. After that, he did his first marathon in 2021. He finished that race in 2 hours and 11 minutes, placing 12th out of 38.
“I’m going to attend this year’s marathon and take on challenges. My hands are on the wheel, my eyes are focused, and I think my time is going to speak for itself,” he said. He’s made a significant commitment to training. He rides the handcycle at least 13.1 miles a couple times a week and spends a lot of time in the gym.
And he plans to keep pursuing his athlete goals. He wants to complete the Abbott Six—the world’s six largest marathons. One day, he said, maybe he’ll even make the Paralympics.
For those who might be following his journey, he hopes they will take some lessons from his story. “There will be ups and downs but the trend is what’s important. Focus on the good,” he said. “And also, take your big problems and split them into small solutions. And then all of a sudden, your big problems turn into many small wins.”

1.losing/having lost 考查非谓语动词。 故填losing/having lost。
故填on。

根据第二段中“‘When I saw it, I was like, “Oh, this is great. You don’t even need legs to use it. This is perfect.”’ he said. ‘So, I got on it; I rode and fell in love with it right away.’”
根据倒数第三段中“My hands are on the wheel, my eyes are focused, and I think my time is going to speak for itself…”及“He’s made a significant commitment to training. He rides the handcycle at least 13.1 miles a couple times a week and spends a lot of time in the gym.”
根据第三段中“Within a few months, he completed the TD Five Boro Bike Tour, a 40-mile ride through New York City. After that, he did his first marathon in 2021. He finished that race in 2 hours and 11 minutes, placing 12th out of 38.”以及倒数第二段中“He wants to complete the Abbott Six—the world’s six largest marathons. One day, he said, maybe he’ll even make the Paralympics.”
根据最后一段中“And also, take your big problems and split them into small solutions. And then all of a sudden, your big problems turn into many small wins.” B选项“Break down your goals.”(拆分你的目标。)
1.C 上文“Exercise is good for your heart, bones and muscles, weight, and sleep. You’ll get more benefits from exercise if you make it a daily habit.”(运动对你的心脏、骨骼和肌肉、体重和睡眠都有好处。 以及下文“…just 10 minutes of aerobic (有氧的) activity each day can lower your risk of heart disease.”(…… 空处承上启下,C项中的small amounts和下文中的just 10 minutes of aerobic activity相呼应,而do your body some good和上文中的get more benefits from exercise和下文中的lower your risk of heart disease相呼应,所以C项“即使少量的运动也能对你的身体有好处”符合语境。故选C。
2.E 上文“You’re more likely to find time for a workout, activity, or class if you enjoy it. If music cheers you up, try a Zumba (尊巴舞) or water exercise class.”以及下文“If you’re competitive, join a local football or tennis team.”
3.F 本段小标题“Make it convenient”和下文“If you often wake up early, plan to work out in the morning before you shower. If you usually watch TV in the early evening, keep hand weights nearby so you can lift them while catching up on your favourite show.”
4.A 本段小标题“Set realistic (能够实现的) goals”以及下文“It’s a journey. Set realistic goals for exercise and you’re more likely to keep it up and make it a habit.” 故选A。
5.D 上文“Sometimes, your schedule changes. You get a new job. You have an injury.”

Four years ago, Rome Leykin was on his way to work when
he accidentally fell onto the tracks of Brooklyn's train as a
subway was approaching. The incident resulted in the loss of
both of his legs.
But surprisingly, with the loss of his legs, Leykin gained a
new passion for racing. Before his accident, he wasn't really that
athletic. He would just occasionally play basketball.

But that all changed after he was introduced to handcycling.
“When I saw it, I was like, ‘Oh, this is great. You don't even
need legs to use it. This is perfect.’” he said. “So, I got on it;
I rode and fell in love with it right away.”
Within a few months, he completed the TD Five Boro Bike
Tour, a 40-mile ride through New York City. After that, he did
his first marathon in 2021. He finished that race in 2 hours and
11 minutes, placing 12th out of 38.

“I'm going to attend this year's marathon and take on
challenges. My hands are on the wheel, my eyes are focused,
and I think my time is going to speak for itself,” he said. He's
made a significant commitment to training. He rides the
handcycle at least 13.1 miles a couple times a week and spends
a lot of time in the gym.
And he plans to keep pursuing his athlete goals. He wants
to complete the Abbott Six—the world's six largest marathons.
One day, he said, maybe he'll even make the Paralympics.

For those who might be following his journey, he hopes

them into small solutions. And then all of a sudden, your big
problems turn into many small wins.”

tennis court and give it a…”
