Step 1
In a small group, talk about your favourite subject. Share your ideas with another group.

Come to “THINK ABOUT IT”. Let the students express their personal views.

Now listen to the first part and answer the following questions:

2) What is Danny’s favourite class?
3) What did Danny do in P.E. yesterday?
Step 4
Listen to the tape again and retell the story in the third person.
Step 5
Listen the tape and read after it. Then let some students imitate in front of the class.

1. make “使役动词”.make sb. do sth. “使某人做某事”, make 后接动词时用动词原形。例如:
His mother made him do some washing yesterday. 他的父亲让他昨天洗了许多衣服。
2. except “除…之外,不包括…” 不包括except之后的内容,其后可接名词,代词。例如:
All the students went to the park, except Wang Fei. 除了王非之外, 所有的学生都去公园了。 (王非没去)
3. see 后的动词跟不带to的不定式和动名词意义不同. see sb. do 表示 “看见某人干了某事”,see sb. doing 表示 “看见某人在干某事”。例如:
I saw a man run into the house. 我看见一个人跑进那所宅子里去了。

Point 1
make作使役动词，意为“使，让，叫”，后接不带to的动词不定式作宾语即：make sb. do sth.
当做实意动词“制造”讲时，则没有这个用法
a lot of意为“大量，很多”，既可以修饰可数名词，也可修饰不可数名词。
【拓展】
(1)make + n. + n.使……成为……
We make Bob our monitor.
(2)make + n.+ adj.使……处于某种状态。
Don’t make our classroom dirty .
(3)make friends with sb.和某人交朋友
My favourite class is physical education (P.E.). Yesterday in physical education (P.E.) class , I put Brian’s shorts on my head and his runners on my hands. Everyone laughed except the teacher. “That’s not funny , Danny,” he said . But I saw him smile.

Point 2
except作介词，意为“除了……之外”其后可接名词、代词、介词短语、that从句或what从句。
We go to school every day except Saturday and Sunday.
except表示A-B
beside表示A+B
see sb. do sth.意为 “看见某人做某事”，do是省去动词不定式to后的动词原形。此处作宾语补足语。
强调看见了事情的全过程，动作已经结束或看见某人经常做某事。
I saw her run out just now .
We often see him draw in the classroom .
【拓展】see sb. doing sth.看见某人正在做某事。
doing是宾语补足语。
I saw the boys playing football on the playground when I passed by.
write to sb.意为“给某人写信”，相当于write a letter to sb. 或write sb. a letter
对应词组：
hear from sb.
get/receive a letter from sb.收到某人的来信

动词不定式短语to learn the language作定语放在它修饰的词之后。
（1）a lot意为“非常；很多”，做状语，可修饰动词，也可修饰比较级，多用于肯定句。
I worked a lot yesterday, so I felt a little tired, but now I feel a lot better .
(2)a lot还可以表示经常，在句中作状语，相当于often .

(3)a lot还可以做主语和宾语。

Point 4help sb. with sth.相当于help sb.(to) do sth.意为帮助某人做某事。
My mother often helps me with my homework. = My mother often helps me (to) do my homework.【拓展】with the help of sb. = with one’s help在某人的帮助下。
help oneself to sth.随便吃某物
help sb. out.帮助某人摆脱困境。翻译下列句子。

在英语中，使役动词有三个：make, let, have
及表示感觉的动词都可以用相同的句型。2.except “除…之外”,不包括整体之内…其后可接名词,代词，动名词.
eg.
All the students went to the park, except Wang Fei.
除了王非之外, 所有的学生都去公园了. (王非没去)
Everyone is here except him, because he is ill.
除他之外，大家都到齐了，因为他病了。
I did nothing except watching TV yesterday.
昨天除了看电视之外我什么也没干。3. see sb. do 表示 “看见某人干了某事”,
see sb. doing 表示 “看见某人在干某事”
4. tell sb.(not) to do sth.告诉某人（不）要做某事
