Step 1 The teacher asks students about their knowledge of some advances in medical science and their influence on people’s life, especially those who are less mobile. 1. Students come up with their own ideas and the teacher concludes that life is no longer difficult for those who are less mobile. 2. Exploring the rules
Step 2 1. The teacher has students read the passage in Part A on Page 34, and pick out the sentences in present perfect continuous tense. 2. The teacher has students tell the time or action background of the present perfect continuous tense in the sentences, and finish “Working out the rules” on Page 34. 3. Applying the rules
Step 3 1. The teacher asks students to complete the sentences in Part B1 on Page 35, and give explanations with the rules plete the sentences with the correct forms of the verbs in the brackets. 2. The teacher asks students to finish Part B2 on Page 35, and consolidate present perfect continuous tense by distinguishing it from other tenses.
