A [2025·陕西西安高一期末考试]
A new United Nations (UN) report says one-fifth of the world’s migratory (迁徙的) animals are at risk of disappearing. Animals that migrate move from one area to another at different times of the year.
The threats the animals face include habitat loss, illegal hunting, pollution and natural disasters. Many kinds of migratory animals, including songbirds, sea turtles, whales, sharks and others, move to different environments as the seasons change.
The UN report says about 44 percent of migratory species around the world are decreasing in population. In addition, about one in five of 1,200 species watched by the UN are at risk of becoming endangered, or completely disappearing.
These are species that move around the globe. They move to feed and breed and also need sites to stop along the way. Any habitat loss or other threats during their trips can make the animal populations fall. “Migration is important to some species. If you cut the migration, you’re going to kill the species,” said an expert.
The researchers examined existing data, including information from the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s Red List of Threatened Species. The list identifies wildlife across the world facing threats at present.
The report was presented at a meeting of the UN’s Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. Attendees of the gathering are examining suggestions for conservation measures. They are also working to identify new species of concern. Susan Lieberman is vice president of the international policy at the Wildlife Conservation Society, a non-governmental organization. She said, “One country alone cannot save any of these species.”
The report found habitat loss affected up to 75 percent of the species studied. The report said this shows a big need for more connectivity between separated ecosystems. It pushes governments to take steps to avoid harming habitats and migration paths when building dams, pipelines or wind power equipment.
( )1.What does the UN report mainly show
A.Most animals are disappearing.
B.Migratory species are increasing.
C.Migratory animals face some threats.
D.Most species face some natural disasters.
( )2.What does migration mean to some species according to the expert in Paragraph 4
A.Losing their competitors.
B.A matter of life and death.
C.A lack of food and movement.
D.Destroying their habitats.
( )3.What can we infer from Susan Lieberman’s word in Paragraph 6
A.It is difficult to identify migratory animals.
B.It is impossible to protect migratory animals.
C.Rescuing migratory species depends on policies.
D.Rescuing migratory species requires global efforts.
( )4.Which of the following can be the best title for the text

B [2025·昆明第一中学高一期末]
Red pandas live in forests where they prefer to be near water and have access to a good supply of bamboo. They are mostly active in the late evening and early morning, and they sleep during most of the day. They take the trees for shelter and to hide from predators (捕食者).
About 98% of a red panda’s main food is bamboo. They need a lot of it to survive—around 2 kilograms each day. However, finding enough bamboo is difficult as the red panda’s habitat becomes smaller. When people move into the red panda’s area, they clear forests for housing, farming and mining.
Natural disasters such as landslides, floods, heavy snow and rainfall have also destroyed their habitats. Forest fires and issues with bamboo flowering have similar effects on the red panda’s habitat. As people move into the area, they often collect bamboo, leaving less for red pandas to eat.
Although the red panda is endangered, steps are being made to save the species and its habitat. China has 46 protected areas, covering about 65% of the species’ habitat in the country. With worldwide support, there are at least 19 protected areas in India, 5 in Bhutan and 3 in Myanmar.
The Red Panda Network is a nonprofit organization that protects red pandas and their habitat. They work with local community groups to establish wildlife feeding centres, train forest protectors, and work with villagers to establish protected areas. The WWF is also working to protect red pandas. Because more than a third of its habitat is in Nepal, the group works with yak herders (牦牛牧民) there to lower their effect on the red panda’s habitat.
( )5.Why is it challenging for red pandas to find enough food
A.They are not active hunters.
B.Their habitats are short of water.
C.Their habitats are threatened.
D.They struggle to identify bamboo.
( )6.What is Paragraph 4 mainly about
A.Global efforts to protect red pandas.
B.Serious situations faced by red pandas.
C.Asia’s official protection of red pandas.
D.China’s advantage in keeping red pandas.
( )7.What does the Red Panda Network do
A.Force yak herders to move away.
B.Offer support to the local groups.
C.Attract people to feed red pandas.
D.Help experts to carry out research.
( )8.What is a suitable title for the text
A.The reason for decrease of red pandas
B.The influence of habitats on red pandas
C.The threat and protection of red pandas
D.The key points for red pandas’ survival(共71张PPT)

risk of becoming endangered, or completely disappearing.
These are species that move around the globe. They move

B[2025·昆明第一中学高一期末]
Red pandas live in forests where they prefer to be near
water and have access to a good supply of bamboo. They are
mostly active in the late evening and early morning, and they
sleep during most of the day. They take the trees for shelter
and to hide from predators (捕食者).
About 98% of a red panda's main food is bamboo. They
need a lot of it to survive—around 2 kilograms each day.
However, finding enough bamboo is difficult as the red panda's

habitat becomes smaller. When people move into the red
panda's area, they clear forests for housing, farming and mining.
Natural disasters such as landslides, floods, heavy snow and
rainfall have also destroyed their habitats. Forest fires and issues
with bamboo flowering have similar effects on the red panda's
habitat. As people move into the area, they often collect
bamboo, leaving less for red pandas to eat.
Although the red panda is endangered, steps are being
made to save the species and its habitat. China has 46

protected areas, covering about 65% of the species' habitat in
the country. With worldwide support, there are at least 19
protected areas in India, 5 in Bhutan and 3 in Myanmar.
The Red Panda Network is a nonprofit organization that
protects red pandas and their habitat. They work with local
community groups to establish wildlife feeding centres, train
forest protectors, and work with villagers to establish protected
areas. The WWF is also working to protect red pandas. Because
more than a third of its habitat is in Nepal, the group works
with yak herders (牦牛牧民) there to lower their effect on the
red panda's habitat.
