2.B 细节理解题。根据第三段最后一句“The Goldenes Dachl(Golden Roof), an important landmark in Innsbruck shining in the sunlight, can be viewed from the street, and took my breath away.”(黄金屋顶,因斯布鲁克的一个重要地标,在阳光下闪耀,从街上就能看到,它让我惊叹不已。)可知,作者在这座城市看了黄金屋顶。故选B项。
3.B 词义猜测题。根据文章第四段“Of course, no visit to Innsbruck is complete without sampling traditional Austrian food including my personal favourite—apple strudel with vanilla cream.”可推测,sampling 意思是“品尝”,与tasting同义。故选B项。

Guardians of time: the light of history
and traditions
Standing in the shadow of ancient temples or holding a faded family heirloom (传家宝), we are reminded that history is not merely words in textbooks, but a living force connecting generations. Traditions, like threads weaving through time, carry the wisdom and values of those who came before us.
From the Great Wall winding across mountains to the delicate art of tea ceremonies passed down for centuries, history shapes our identity. To honour the past is not to live in it, but to understand how every custom—whether a festival celebrated with lanterns or a folk song hummed at dusk—reflects the struggles and dreams of our ancestors. Imagine walking through the ruins of Pompeii, where cracked walls whisper stories of a civilization frozen in time; such experiences teach us that history is a mirror, reflecting both humanity’s brilliance and fragility (脆弱).
Yet traditions face challenges today. Surrounded by fast-paced technology, some view ancient practices as outdated. However, losing traditions would be like cutting roots from a tree—without them, we drift aimlessly. Take the Dragon Boat Festival, where racing boats and sticky rice dumplings are not just fun activities but symbols of courage and unity. By preserving these practices, we ensure that future generations inherit not just memories, but a compass guiding them through life’s storms.
History and traditions are not chains binding us to the past, but wings helping us soar into the future. Let us cherish them, for they are the heartbeat of civilization—quiet yet powerful, ancient yet forever new.

With the recent relaxation in travel, I found myself visiting Innsbruck, the capital city of the state of Tyrol in Western Austria.
This amazing destination is surrounded with snow-capped mountains and is perfect for a short break. You can even enjoy a breathtaking sight at Innsbruck Airport as the plane gently moves between the mountains on its journey to the runway.
The city is a combination of modern and historic buildings, serving both as a thriving (繁荣的) university town and a popular tourist centre. Walking through cobbled(铺着鹅卵石的)streets and specially designed buildings, I could not help but be impressed by this awe-inspiring city. I learned from my guide book that Innsbruck was the imperial capital 500 years ago when the Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian Ⅰ settled here, and it still lives up to its royal (王室的) connections today with its lavish (奢侈的) and amazing buildings. I walked round this city which was easy to explore on foot, amazed at the dramatic backdrop of the Nordkette mountain range which offers skiing and hiking via the Nordkettenbahnen cable railway which is just a 20-minute ride from the centre of Innsbruck. The Goldenes Dachl (Golden Roof), an important landmark in Innsbruck shining in the sunlight, can be viewed from the street, and took my breath away.
Of course, no visit to Innsbruck is complete without sampling traditional Austrian food including my personal favourite—apple strudel with vanilla cream. Roadside cafés are plentiful in the city and there is nothing more relaxing than sitting in the sunshine, drinking coffee and watching the world go by. Innsbruck stole my heart with its amazing buildings, great mountains and friendly people. I cannot wait to return to sample more of this delightful European city.

B [2025·湖北恩施高中教育联盟高一期末]
The earliest bread may have been made from cattails (香蒲) and ferns (蕨类植物), which date back to nearly 30,000 years ago. This suggests that even before the rise of agriculture, humans had begun to form a type of flour that they would then use to create bread. The earliest wheat- and barley-based bread developed from the Middle East by around 12,000 years ago.
One problem with the production of early bread was preservation, as bread would often go bad quickly. The solution was to change unused bread into beer, which proved to be far more suitable for storage. Beer likely made the production of bread less wasteful, as extra bread not eaten could then be made into beer.
With the development of the earliest bread, new technologies appeared to help with the baking process. This included enclosed ovens and open ovens that used mud or brick to make a hot surface on which flatbread could be prepared from a dough mix. Bread and earlier agricultural foods affected the development of many food preparation technologies, including pestles, querns, and mills (磨面机).
The production of bread led to many major changes in society, where the production and processing of wheat and barley for bread and other foods changed economies and social structures. Much labour was employed for the production of food with the rise of cities, where an increased population required bread to be made at more industrial scales in large ovens and prepared by many people. At first, people made flour by hand, often leading to coarse grains. Later, mills and large flat stones were used to make more high-quality flour.
Millet was another grain used to make bread, particularly in India and China. A form of flatbread made of millet is still the main food type in India. In China, sorghum and rice were also used to make bread, which made the consistency (黏稠度) and quality very different from wheat- and barley-based bread.
( )5.What did ancient people use to make bread in the beginning
A.Wheat and barley.
B.Cattails and ferns.
C.Sorghum and rice.
D.Millet and corn.
( )6.What did the ancient people do to stop the waste of bread
A.They changed bread into another state.
B.They stored bread in a more suitable place.
C.They developed a way to produce extra bread.
D.They improved the baking process of the bread.
( )7.What is mainly talked about in the third paragraph
A.The development of baking tools.
B.New technologies for baking bread.
C.The way to use food preparation tools.
D.The process of preparing a dough mix.
( )8.What can we infer from the production of bread
A.It led to a sharp increase of population in cities.
B.It made people only use machines to make better flour.
C.It pushed the development of economy and technology.
D.It promoted the division of labour in a more suitable way.

was to change unused bread into beer, which proved to be far
more suitable for storage. Beer likely made the production of
bread less wasteful, as extra bread not eaten could then be
made into beer.
With the development of the earliest bread, new
technologies appeared to help with the baking process. This
included enclosed ovens and open ovens that used mud or

brick to make a hot surface on which flatbread could be
prepared from a dough mix. Bread and earlier agricultural foods
affected the development of many food preparation technologies,
including pestles, querns, and mills (磨面机).
The production of bread led to many major changes in
society, where the production and processing of wheat and
barley for bread and other foods changed economies and social
structures. Much labour was employed for the production of
food with the rise of cities, where an increased population

required bread to be made at more industrial scales in large
ovens and prepared by many people. At first, people made
flour by hand, often leading to coarse grains. Later, mills and
large flat stones were used to make more high-quality flour.
Millet was another grain used to make bread, particularly in
India and China. A form of flatbread made of millet is still the
main food type in India. In China, sorghum and rice were also
used to make bread, which made the consistency (黏稠度) and
quality very different from wheat- and barley-based bread.
