When I was a teenager, I used to be troubled by doubts and fears for my future. One summer afternoon, I drove alone for a change, but suddenly my night turned into a disaster. I was rushed to the hospital.
I remember when I came to, I found my parents were beside me. The doctor walked in. “Due to the seriousness of your injuries,” he began, “you'll probably have a difficult time walking, let alone dancing, or joining in sports.” The news was horrific. Basketball was my favourite sport and being on the school team meant everything to me. I cried uncontrollably imagining the worst for my future. My parents took over. “Thank you for your advice,” they said calmly. “Our daughter will be up and walking again soon.”
Then followed several months of lying in bed. With determination and the unbelievable support of my family and friends, I began the long and challenging road to healing. What began as a terrible thing gave me time and space to learn about personal development and transformation. With time, not only did I dance and play basketball again, but I also transformed my entire way of life. I learned to change the way I thought. I learned to replace despair with hope, and as a result, I was free of anxiety attacks, headaches and lack of confidence.
Even more amazingly, that accident created a turning point, helping me discover my life's purpose. Inspired by the positive changes I made to my life, I devoted my life to helping others find the same fulfillment.
And now today, as I reflect on the roads we all must travel on, I realize that every trouble is an opportunity for growth. If we are open to change, our journeys, no matter how frightening, can offer paths with new horizons.

Bartek Ostalowski lost both his arms in a terrible accident in 2006, but that wasn't enough to kill his dream of one day becoming a professional race-car driver. Finding himself armless at just 20 years old and being faced with the difficult task of learning to drive a car on a race circuit(赛车道) must have been quite a shock for Bartek, but he gathered the courage and the drive to push on. My mother is a diligent and kind woman. She is very busy from morning till night. As a teacher, she works hard. 1 Both my brother and I love her dearly as she loves us.
My mother has been teaching math at a middle school in my hometown. She goes to work early in the morning and does not return home until late in the afternoon. 2 She treats them with patience and teaches them well. For her excellent qualities and very good teaching results, she has been elected as model teacher several times.
3 Every day, when she comes back home from work, she sets about sweeping the living room and bedrooms, cleaning the furniture and putting everything in good order. She seems to be busy all the time. As she has been very busy working every day, she looks older than her age. But she looks as cheerful and happy as ever. Mother never buys expensive dresses for herself, but she often buys some high quality clothes for us. 4 She just eats a plain meal outside when she is too busy to cook for herself. She lives a busy yet simple life, without any complaints.
Often she says to us, “Work while you work, and play while you play. That is the way to be happy. If you do not work, you will become lazy and be of no use to society.” What a piece of good advice this is! 5 The advice of hers will always serve as a guide to my behavior. My mother is great indeed, and I always feel proud of her.
A.She enjoys listening to classical music.
B.As a mother, she takes good care of us and gives us every comfort.

Every day, when she comes back home from work, she sets about sweeping the living room and bedrooms, cleaning the furniture and putting everything in good order.
“when she...work”是when引导的时间状语从句;第二个and连接三个并列的动名词短语“sweeping...bedrooms”“cleaning the furniture”和“putting...order”,作sets about的宾语。

2.C 下文“She treats them with patience and teaches them well.”
4.D 由上文妈妈从来不买昂贵的衣服可知妈妈比较节俭,结合下文“She just eats a plain meal outside when she is too busy to cook for herself.”
