Ⅰ.A
根据第二段“Matilda Coleman, six, picked up one of the toys—a blonde-haired, blue-eyed Disney princess(公主), and turned her upside down. Underneath the skirt was a pale-faced witchy (女巫的) version. The girl liked it, and then was confused that the toy wasn’t available to buy. Maclean’s work playfully breaks the grasp that consumer culture has on modern minds.”(6岁的玛蒂尔达·科尔曼拿起其中一个玩具——一个金发碧眼的迪士尼公主,把它颠倒过来。
根据第三段“‘What art can do best is to make you look at things that you’re very used to in a different way,’ said Maclean…‘Sadly the decline of our city centres is something that is common these days, so I want to bring people into a space where they can reflect on it in a fun way.’”(“艺术最擅长的是让你以一种不同的方式看待你非常习惯的事物,”麦克林说……“可悲的是,我们城市中心的衰落现在很普遍,所以我想把人们带到一个空间,在那里他们可以用一种有趣的方式反思它。”)以及第四段“‘When the shop first opened, everyone was interested in finding out what it was,’ said Parker, a local teenager. ‘It has lots of different themes about identity, consumerism, capitalism, but they are silent messages and everyone has different thoughts about it.’”(“当这家店刚开业时,每个人都想知道它是什么,”当地的一名青少年帕克说。“它有很多关于身份、消费主义和资本主义的不同主题,但它们都是无声的信息,每个人对此都有不同的想法。”)可推知,作者通过引用他人的话来展开第三段和第四段。故选B。
3.B 词义猜测题。根据画线词上文“Maclean has taken over this former butcher’s shop in Ayr as part of Jupiter Plus, a new arts and education initiative…”(麦克林接管了这家位于Ayr,之前为肉店的店铺,作为Jupiter Plus的一部分,Jupiter Plus是一项新的艺术和教育倡议……)以及后文“…empty high street shops in towns and cities in Scotland with free art exhibitions and workshops for young people.”
根据第一段“Rachel Maclean’s toy shop on Ayr high street appears like any other in a town centre at first sight. Step inside and you will notice that familiar promotional entreaties (恳求) are backwards: ‘Don’t Buy Me. Nothing Must Go.’ Everything is upside down and nothing is for sale.”(雷切尔·麦克林Maclean的玩具店位于Ayr大街上,乍一看和市中心的其他玩具店没什么两样。 故选A。
B
根据文章第二段“‘Multiple teams in China are currently focused on technologies needed for building and running a space-based solar power facility, which will allow the sun’s energy to be captured nonstop, something that isn’t possible from Earth,’ said Hou Xinbin, a senior researcher.”(高级研究员侯新斌说:“中国的多个团队目前正专注于建设和运行天基太阳能发电设施所需的技术,该设施将允许不间断地捕获太阳能,这在地球上是不可能实现的。”) 故选A。
根据文章第三段“After collecting solar energy, the space facility will transform it into electromagnetic radiation, such as microwaves, and laser beams and send it wirelessly back to Earth’s surface. Receiving stations will then turn these electromagnetic waves and laser beams into electricity for distribution to power grids (电网).”(在收集太阳能后,空间设施将其转化为电磁辐射,如微波和激光束,并将其以无线的方式发送回地球表面。然后接收站将这些电磁波和激光束转换成电能,然后分配到电网。)可知,第三段主要讲述了这个空间设施是如何运作的。故选B。
7.A 推理判断题。根据文章最后一段“Hou noted that there is an urgent need in China to develop new sources of clean energy, which are sustainable, affordable and secure, and can be widely used, as China has announced that it aims to hit peak carbon emissions before 2030 and realize carbon neutrality before 2060. The power generated in this manner will be free of pollution and limitless, and this source of energy could also be used to power any spacecraft within its beaming range.”(侯指出,中国迫切需要开发可持续的、价格合理的、安全的和可? 故选A。
根据文章第一段“Amid global efforts to replace fossil fuels with clean energy, Chinese scientists and engineers are working on a bright idea—soaking up abundant energy from the sun and then beaming it back to Earth.”(在全球努力用清洁能源取代化石燃料的过程中,中国科学家和工程师正在研究一个聪明的想法——从太阳中吸收大量能量,然后将其传回地球。)
Ⅱ.第一节
One possible version:
Hello, everyone! Welcome to our school! I am Li Hua, head of the Scientific Experiment Club. It’s my honour to give a brief introduction to our club.
Our club aims at providing a platform for members to engage in hands-on experiments, and gain practical experience beyond the classroom. We meet weekly in our laboratory, where members work in groups or independently on various experiments in biology, chemistry, physics, and so on.
In the coming years, our club plans to expand its reach and influence. Moreover, we will establish more cooperation with other scientific clubs and academic institutions, preparing students for future careers in science.
That’s all for my sharing! Thank you!
One possible version:
Emily was glad to do this but she didn’t know how to prepare. Knowing that, Shanshan stepped in to help Emily with her presentation. With Shanshan’s guidance, Emily decided to start by making a list of key points about her hometown, such as its location, population, and famous landmarks. She also included interesting facts and traditions that she thought would attract the audience’s attention. They practised together, and Shanshan even taught her some key phrases in Chinese to make her presentation more appealing. As the days passed, Emily’s confidence grew, and she became more comfortable speaking in front of an audience.
The day finally came and it was Emily’s turn to make the presentation. She was feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness as she walked to the front of the classroom. She took a deep breath, looked at her classmates, and began her presentation. She spoke passionately about the beautiful landscapes, the friendly people, and the unique cultural events. The students listened attentively and asked questions, showing their interest in her culture. Not only were they impressed by her presentation but they also were touched by the strong bond of friendship she had formed with Shanshan. Emily felt a sense of accomplishment, experiencing the warmth of friendship in a foreign land.Period Four Writing

Rachel Maclean’s toy shop on Ayr high street appears like any other in a town centre at first sight. Step inside and you will notice that familiar promotional entreaties (恳求) are backwards: “Don’t Buy Me. Nothing Must Go.” Everything is upside down and nothing is for sale.
Matilda Coleman, six, picked up one of the toys—a blonde-haired, blue-eyed Disney princess(公主), and turned her upside down. Underneath the skirt was a pale-faced witchy (女巫的) version. “What art can do best is to make you look at things that you’re very used to in a different way,” said Maclean (b.1987), a Glasgow-based multimedia artist who has rapidly established herself as one of the most distinctive voices in the UK. “Sadly the decline of our city centres is something that is common these days, so I want to bring people into a space where they can reflect on it in a fun way.”
“When the shop first opened, everyone was interested in finding out what it was,” said Parker, a local teenager. “It has lots of different themes about identity, consumerism, capitalism, but they are silent messages and everyone has different thoughts about it.”

Amid global efforts to replace fossil fuels with clean energy, Chinese scientists and engineers are working on a bright idea—soaking up abundant energy from the sun and then beaming it back to Earth.
“Multiple teams in China are currently focused on technologies needed for building and running a space-based solar power facility, which will allow the sun’s energy to be captured nonstop, something that isn’t possible from Earth,” said Hou Xinbin, a senior researcher.
After collecting solar energy, the space facility will transform it into electromagnetic radiation, such as microwaves, and laser beams and send it wirelessly back to Earth’s surface. Receiving stations will then turn these electromagnetic waves and laser beams into electricity for distribution to power grids (电网).
“As a key step to testing the workability of space-based solar power generation, we want to make and place into orbit a pair of satellites—a large one that will collect solar power and transform it to microwaves and laser beams, and a smaller one responsible for receiving laser beams. Meanwhile, a ground station will be in charge of receiving the microwaves. The two satellites will form an in-orbit testing system for wireless power transfer,”Hou said.
“However, a host of technical issues must be solved before any commercially viable solar power project can take shape in space,” Hou said. “The challenges include developing high-performance components with acceptable sizes and weights which cannot be too big or too heavy—and integrating them into a satellite, and also ensuring that the power beams reach ground receiving stations with great accuracy,” he said.
Hou noted that there is an urgent need in China to develop new sources of clean energy, which are sustainable, affordable and secure, and can be widely used, as China has announced that it aims to hit peak carbon emissions before 2030 and realize carbon neutrality before 2060. The power generated in this manner will be free of pollution and limitless, and this source of energy could also be used to power any spacecraft within its beaming range.
( )5.What is the advantage of a space-based solar power facility over an earth-based one
A.It will acquire the sun’s energy continuously.
B.It will gain the sun’s energy cheaply.
C.It will capture the sun’s energy directly.
D.It will catch the sun’s energy conveniently.
( )6.What’s the third paragraph mainly about
A.Why the space facility will be built.
B.How the space facility will work.
C.What parts the space facility will consist of.
D.What benefits the space facility will bring.
( )7.Which will Hou probably agree with
A.The construction of this space facility means a lot in China’s efforts to go green.
B.The construction of this space facility will soon become commercially available.
C.The construction of this space facility faces both support and protest.
D.The construction of this space facility is more of a dream than of a reality.
( )8.What is the best title
A.China aiming to realize carbon neutrality by promoting clean energy
B.China aiming to shine in space-based solar power tech to boost clean energy
C.China aiming to take the lead in exploring solar power for clean energy
D.China aiming to become a space power by building a space-based facility

Emily is a sixth-grade student in a small American town. She is a curious and adventurous girl who always dreams of exploring new places. Last summer, her dream came true when she got selected for a student exchange programme to visit China.
Emily was super excited, but she knew that going to a different country with a brand new culture might not be easy. When she arrived in China, she had an open heart and lots of hope, but the cultural differences, the language barrier, and the unfamiliar surroundings made her feel a bit overwhelmed.
On her first day at a Chinese school, she felt like she was in a completely different world. The students spoke a language she couldn’t understand, and the way things worked in the classroom was very different from back home. During lunchtime, poor Emily sat all by herself in a corner of the cafeteria, feeling lost and lonely. Just then, a friendly Chinese girl came up to her with a warm smile and said, “Hello, my name is Li Shanshan. I noticed you’re new here. Would you like to be our friend ”
Emily was so relieved and thankful for the friendly offer. “Thank you,” she replied with a big smile. “I’m Emily, and I’m really happy to meet you.”
Shanshan introduced Emily to her group of friends, and they all welcomed her with open arms. They helped Emily with her Chinese language, taught her about Chinese customs, and shared their favourite Chinese foods. Slowly but surely, Emily started to feel more comfortable and understand the Chinese culture better.
One day, as the English teacher was planning her class schedule, she came up with an idea. She decided to assign each student in the class to do a presentation about their hometowns the next week. She believed this could be a great way for the students to learn about different cultures and improve their public speaking skills.
Paragraph 1:
Emily was glad to do this but she didn’t know how to prepare.

Paragraph 2:
The day finally came and it was Emily’s turn to make the presentation.

Amid global efforts to replace fossil fuels with clean energy,
Chinese scientists and engineers are working on a bright idea—
soaking up abundant energy from the sun and then beaming it
back to Earth.
“Multiple teams in China are currently focused on
technologies needed for building and running a space-based solar
power facility, which will allow the sun's energy to be captured
nonstop, something that isn't possible from Earth,” said Hou
Xinbin, a senior researcher.

After collecting solar energy, the space facility will transform it
into electromagnetic radiation, such as microwaves, and laser
beams and send it wirelessly back to Earth's surface. Receiving
stations will then turn these electromagnetic waves and laser
beams into electricity for distribution to power grids (电网).

“As a key step to testing the workability of space-based solar
power generation, we want to make and place into orbit a pair of
satellites—a large one that will collect solar power and transform it
to microwaves and laser beams, and a smaller one responsible for
receiving laser beams. Meanwhile, a ground station will be in
charge of receiving the microwaves. The two satellites will form an
in-orbit testing system for wireless power transfer,”Hou said.

“However, a host of technical issues must be solved before
any commercially viable solar power project can take shape in
space,” Hou said. “The challenges include developing high-
performance components with acceptable sizes and weights which
cannot be too big or too heavy—and integrating them into a
satellite, and also ensuring that the power beams reach ground
receiving stations with great accuracy,” he said.

Hou noted that there is an urgent need in China to develop
new sources of clean energy, which are sustainable, affordable and
secure, and can be widely used, as China has announced that it
aims to hit peak carbon emissions before 2030 and realize carbon
neutrality before 2060. The power generated in this manner will be
free of pollution and limitless, and this source of energy could also
be used to power any spacecraft within its beaming range.

Emily is a sixth-grade student in a small American town. She is
a curious and adventurous girl who always dreams of exploring
new places. Last summer, her dream came true when she got
selected for a student exchange programme to visit China.
Emily was super excited, but she knew that going to a
different country with a brand new culture might not be easy.
When she arrived in China, she had an open heart and lots of
hope, but the cultural differences, the language barrier, and the
unfamiliar surroundings made her feel a bit overwhelmed.
On her first day at a Chinese school, she felt like she was in a
completely different world. The students spoke a language she
couldn't understand, and the way things worked in the classroom
was very different from back home. During lunchtime, poor Emily
sat all by herself in a corner of the cafeteria, feeling lost and lonely. Just then, a friendly Chinese girl came up to her with a warm smile and said, “Hello, my name is Li Shanshan. I noticed you're new here. Would you like to be our friend ”
Emily was so relieved and thankful for the friendly offer.
“Thank you,” she replied with a big smile. “I'm Emily, and I'm
really happy to meet you.”
Shanshan introduced Emily to her group of friends, and they
all welcomed her with open arms. They helped Emily with her
Chinese language, taught her about Chinese customs, and shared
their favourite Chinese foods. Slowly but surely, Emily started to
feel more comfortable and understand the Chinese culture better.
One day, as the English teacher was planning her class
schedule, she came up with an idea. She decided to assign each
student in the class to do a presentation about their hometowns
the next week. She believed this could be a great way for the
students to learn about different cultures and improve their public
speaking skills.
Paragraph 1:
Emily was glad to do this but she didn't know how to prepare.
____________________________________________________________________________
Paragraph 2:
The day finally came and it was Emily's turn to make the
presentation.______________________________________________________________
One possible version:
Emily was glad to do this but she didn't know how to prepare.
Knowing that, Shanshan stepped in to help Emily with her
presentation. With Shanshan's guidance, Emily decided to start by
making a list of key points about her hometown, such as its
location, population, and famous landmarks. She also included
interesting facts and traditions that she thought would attract the
audience's attention. They practised together, and Shanshan even
taught her some key phrases in Chinese to make her presentation
more appealing. As the days passed, Emily's confidence grew, and
she became more comfortable speaking in front of an audience.
The day finally came and it was Emily's turn to make the
presentation. She was feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness
as she walked to the front of the classroom. She took a deep
breath, looked at her classmates, and began her presentation. She
spoke passionately about the beautiful landscapes, the friendly
people, and the unique cultural events. The students listened
attentively and asked questions, showing their interest in her
culture. Not only were they impressed by her presentation but they
also were touched by the strong bond of friendship she had
formed with Shanshan. Emily felt a sense of accomplishment,
experiencing the warmth of friendship in a foreign land.
