My wife and I recently completed a one-day tour of the Great Wall with Jessie. In addition to being very knowledgeable about the history of the area that we toured, Jessie spoke excellent English and was able to answer all of our questions. We really enjoyed being able to have a customized (按需要定制的) tour that avoided tourist traps and forced shopping that seem to be a part of the larger group tours.

I suggest wearing strong shoes — the Great Wall is really a hike. And on snowy or rainy days, the surfaces are pretty slippery (滑的)! Seeing this area in winter was really unique and the snow made for great pictures. Jessie kept us entertained (使高兴) with stories and facts about the construction of the Great Wall, and always pointed out great spots for taking pictures. Even though she’s in fantastic shape, she cared about our level of fitness and often stopped to let us catch our breath.
When we got back to our hotel, Jessie gave us a list of recommendations for dinner and some tips for our planned stops the next day. If I am in Beijing in the future, I will certainly contact Jessie for more tour opportunities, and I’ve already recommended her to some friends who are visiting the area later in the year. I can’t say enough about how kind and knowledgeable she was, and she really gave us a great tour experience.

A bicycle may be seen by most people as just another vehicle (交通工具), but for many Londoners, cycling is a way of life. According to a UK government survey in 2017, about 570,000 bike journeys were made every day in London. In fact, almost half of the vehicles that pass over London Bridge each day are bikes.
London introduced a public bike-sharing system. “There can be no doubt (怀疑,疑惑) that our trusty bicycles have changed the way people get around our great city,” Johnson told The Guardian.
In London, bikes are used for more than just taking short trips to and from the subway (地铁站). No matter where you want to go in the city, riding a bike is usually the quickest and easiest choice.
And it’s not just shared bikes that the government is encouraging people to ride. In many companies across the UK, the UK government’s Cycle to Work program allows workers to buy a brand new bike without having to pay any tax (税). This means that it’s common to see many people cycling to and from work, and some companies even provide showers and lockers in the workplaces for their workers. More importantly, a cycle-friendly boss may let you off for being late if you ride a bike to work.
Not only is it great for the environment and our body, but cycling is also good for the mind. According to National Geographic Magazine, “Bike riding can improve people’s happiness.”
8. How does the author show the popularity of cycling in London?
A. By using numbers. (列数据) B. By giving examples. (举例子)
C. By making comparisons. (作比较) D. By using famous sayings. (用名言)
9. What’s Johnson’s attitude towards the bike-sharing system in London?
A. Disappointed. B. Worried. C. Supportive. D. Doubtful.
10. What can workers get from the Cycle to Work program?
A. Tax-free bikes. B. Shorter working hours.
C. Free bike-sharing services. D. Showers and lockers in workplaces.
11. Which of the following can be the best title of the passage?
A. Cycling, a healthy way of life
B. London’s public bike-sharing system
C. How cycling has become popular in London
D. Why Londoners are encouraged to ride bikes

Lily loved school. However, there was one class Lily worried about more than any other—art. She didn’t know why she just wasn’t any good at drawing, painting, or cutting.
Ms. Clay, the art teacher, stood at the front of the room. “Class, next Friday our school is going to have an art competition,” she announced. Ms. Clay was a great teacher, and Lily liked her a lot. But this announcement made Lily nervous. “Everyone in the school will create a piece of artwork to show in the library. You can use the different types of artwork we have been studying.” Ms. Clay was quite excited when she spoke while Lily found herself sinking lower in her chair.
Lily had the whole weekend to work on her project, but she could not think of anything to do. On Monday, Lily felt frightened, so after school Lily asked Ms. Clay if she could write an art paper instead of doing an art project.
“I understand this project scared you, Lily,” Ms. Clay said. “Just remember, you can create any kind of art you want.” Ms. Clay smiled at her. “Art is a person’s way of expressing his or her feelings—it isn’t always painting, drawing, or cutting. I know you will think of something very creative, and I can’t wait to see it.”
When Lily arrived home, she took out a piece of paper and a pencil. She remembered Ms. Clay’s words. “Art is a person’s way of expressing his or her feelings.” Lily wrote the word “terrified” on her paper. She crumpled (揉皱) the paper and threw it to the side of her desk.
Then Lily stared at the crumpled ball. Suddenly an idea struck her.
Paragraph 1:
Why not create something out of crumpled paper?

On Friday, Lily carefully carried her project into the library.

【答案】Dear Tom,
How is everything going? I am very glad to learn that you are coming to China this summer. I understand your feeling because I know well how it feels to communicate with foreigners. Anyway, take it easy since you have learned Chinese for two years.
Now let me tell you something about how to learn Chinese well. To begin with, learning Chinese is just like learning any other foreign languages. It could be a good idea if you are brave enough to speak Chinese whenever you can, which is very important. The more you use Chinese, the better you will learn it. Moreover, why not speak slowly and listen to the tape and repeat after it. Lastly, when you don’t know how to express yourself and others can’t understand you, you can use pictures or body language to help you.
I do hope these advice can be of help you. Wish you a happy stay in China.
Best wishes!
Yours,
Li Hua
第二节(满25分)
47. 阅读下面材料,根据根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文,续写的词数应为150左右。

Paragraph 2:
On Friday, Lily carefully carried her project into the library.

【答案】Why not create something out of crumpled paper? The crumpled paper reminded her of a snowball. Lily didn’t have to draw or paint or even cut. Lily made many paper balls, glued them all together, and placed them on a big piece of hard paper to form a snowman. The snowman wore a hat made of black paper and a scarf made of red paper. Her finished project was really wonderful.
On Friday, Lily carefully carried her project into the library. She noticed the smile and the nods from teachers and other students as she put her work on a table. Ms. Clay walked over to Lily. “You have created a creative piece of artwork. I am so proud of you!” Ms. Clay said. Lily was proud of herself too. Her pride grew when Ms. Clay placed a first-place star on her artwork. “Maybe I am a good artist after all,” Lily thought.
