When I was young, “Don’t get fat” was a repeated warning
during my childhood.I was often told what not to eat.It messed up my
relationship with food.Because of this, I was always worried about my
daughter's weight and what she ate.I used to encourage her to make
healthy snack choices and stop her from a second dessert. However,
hearing her say “I think I’m too fat” was a wake-up call.It made me
wonder if giving her advice on snacks was having a bad influence
somehow.
So I turn to Charlotte Markey for help.Markey, a psychology (心
理学) professor, recommends a well-known idea called the “Division
of Responsibility”.The idea suggests that parents provide a lot of
healthy foods to their kids at fixed times, and the kids themselves
decide what and how much they want to have—even if that means
eating more cookies than carrots from time to time, even if that means
they can share what they eat with their classmates.
Markey believes that food is one of the unusual subjects where,
as parents, saying less is more.“When your child complains of a
stomachache, you can say, ‘Well, you had a lot of sugary foods and
you might feel better if you made some other choices,’” says Markey.
“Let them feel like they have the power to decide it themselves.”
Trying out these ways has shown me that less restraint develops
better decision-making in children.“Parenting is a long game , ”
Markey notes.“The food you have makes a huge difference.”

It’s no doubt that life in senior high school will be harder than
that in junior high school. You may find life more difficult, more
boring, or more stressful, but you can learn to make it a lot more fun.
Firstly, you can achieve it by making friends. If you have got a
group of friends who like what you like, and who you like to be
around, going to school can be a lot of fun.So try to become a member
of an after-school club like the music club, the chess club, the dancing
club and so on.You are sure to make some friends there.
Secondly, you can keep school fun by making it easier.Where’s
your English homework? Where’s that math homework ? Is your
pencil sharp? The less you have to worry about these little things, the
more you’ll be able to enjoy school.Besides, though you're feeling
bored in class, if you choose to be nice to your teachers, chances are
that they'll be nice back to you.And that makes everyone’s days much
easier.
Thirdly, try to manage after-school time better.Wouldn’t the
morning before school be a lot less stressful if you weren’t struggling
to (努力) finish your homework? So try to start your homework early
and get it done quickly instead of waiting until the last minute.
Lastly, if you’re struggling in school, don’t try to take it all on by
yourself.Join an after-school study group or try to spend 10 to 15
minutes asking your teacher a few questions about your homework
after school, if you’re embarrassed to ask during classes.
1.How may you find life in senior high school
You may find life more difficult, more boring, or more stressful.
2.How many suggestions are given in the passage
Four/4.
3.How can you make friends

4.How can you manage after-school time better
