There are many times I have been pessimistic② about or even disappointed by a film of a book I love. All can work well, but why do many adaptation and indeed remakes fail both cinema audiences and critic And why do some adaptations get lower rating than others A key question is obviously [3]how close to the original the film is. [4]Since a typical film is only around two hours long, it becomes a question for screenwriters to decide what is appropriat for the screen and what to leave ou. Screenwriters take creative libert and sometimes there may be changes to the plot, additions, and even different endings to please producers, directors and test audiences. I, like many people, have often left the cinema feeling “the film is not like the book”. Finding actors acceptable to film audiences can mean the difference between success and failure. Readers of the book use their imaginations to visualis characters and have very definit ideas about [5]how characters should look and sound. [6]This is where I think many film adaptations fall down.

technical adj. Some books are just too difficult to be adapted for technica reasons, [7]although films like Life of Pi are changing this idea. CGI (Computer Generate Image) technology has had a huge impact on the film industry. It allowed the previously unfilmabl to become a reality. One may think [8]that it is the book writer who is in the best position to do film adaptations. In fact, sometimes authors are very involved in the process and may even be the screenwriter. This can actually be a disadvantage [9]because they may be too close to the material and find it difficult to adapt to a new form. At other times they are not, and there are instances [10]where writers have been very unsatisfied with the film version of their work; Stephen King is an example of this. Even more extreme was novelist J.D. Salinger, [11]who made sure no film versions of his popular novel A Catcher in the Rye could ever be made. In this situation, [12]it is clear that viewers will not be disappointed! For me, anyway, [13]it is always a bad idea to watch a film of a book you love. [8]画线部分为that引导的宾语从句,作think的宾语;it is…who… Salinger。 Despite the challenges, there have been some highly successful films made from popular books. For me, Jaws, Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings all fit this categor. And possibly the best proo of a successful adaptation is the James Bond series, [14]the majority of which has been adapted from the 007 novels of Ian Fleming. Perhaps unusually, audiences seem to accept [15]that the actors who have played James Bond have changed so often, although everyone seems to have their favourite. I know I do. 小说家J.D.

How to protect against undue
influence online
The potential for undue influence has become increasingly significant in this era of digital interconnectivity. Undue influence can affect our perceptions and influence our decisions. It may even end our autonomy (自主) and mental health. 1.
Understand what undue influence is.
The first step to protecting yourself is understanding what undue influence is. Undue influence refers to a situation in which an individual or group employs unreasonable control over another person’s behaviour information, thoughts, and emotions. 2. Disinformation campaigns, persuasive advertising, and even content designed to cause fear, uncertainty, or dependency may often appear online.
Develop media literacy skills.
In an age of fake news, it is crucial to develop media literacy skills. 3. Become a consumer who can tell the quality of information, identify the source, check for credibility, and look for your unconscious assumptions and preferences.
4.
Delete as much data as you can about yourself. Be mindful of what information you share online, and always ensure that your online activities are secured through reliable sources. Review all policies on platforms, especially “free” ones. If you aren’t paying, then you are the product, as in many cases, they are selling your data.
By including these steps into your digital life, you can protect yourself from undue influence in the online world, ensuring that you can think and act independently, free from ill control.
5. It is your mind. Only you should control it!
A. Prioritize privacy.
B. Be mindful of free ones.
C. It’s vital to have a healthy Internet and real-life balance.
D. In the digital world, undue influence can take many forms.
E. Everyone deserves the right to live free from undue influence.
F. They involve analysing, evaluating, and creating media in various forms.
G. Here are some essential strategies for you to protect yourself online from undue influence.
