October 9, along with his partner Pasang Nurbu Sherpa—the final of 14 “8000ers” (超过 8000 米的山峰) peaks all recognized by the The International Climbing and Mountaineering Federation (also known as UIAA) as standing more than 8, 000m above sea level.
Previously, Mingma Gyabu “David” Sherpa summited all 14 mountains by the age of 30 in 2019, according to Guinness World Records, which states on its website that new records can take weeks to confirm.
Nima started his splendid journey in September 2022 when he climbed Nepal’s 8,163m Manaslu. Over the next two years, he summited all of the “8000ers” including Everest, the world’s highest mountain at 8, 848.86m, and the famously dangerous K2 at 8, 611m.
Nima took to Instagram to mark the completion of the grueling challenge, writing: “I devote this world record to my project, SherpaPower. Although they carry heavy equipment and supplies up mountains and guide people to high altitude summits in dangerous conditions, they often don’t receive the recognition or rewards they deserve.
“Through SherpaPower, I want to show the younger generation of Sherpas that they can rise above the label of being only support climbers and bring out their potential as top athletes, adventurers, and creators,” Nima added. “We are not just guides; we are pathfinders. At a conference on private business on Monday, a young businessman born in the 1990s caught the attention of many netizens. He is Wang Xingxing, CEO and founder of Unitree Robotics. Wang’s team developed the handkerchief-spinning robot that gained widespread popularity during this year’s Spring Festival Gala.
After the conference, Wang told reporters in an interview that “AI-driven robot evolution is advancing at an unprecedented (史无前例的) pace, beyond expectations.”
He believes that by the end of this year, humanoid robots will reach a new level, and by next year or the year after, they will be widely adopted in both the service and industrial sectors.
Wang Xingxing explained that in the future, such robots are expected to see wider applications in industrial production and specialized environments, including firefighting and rescue operations.
In 2013, while still an undergraduate, Wang Xingxing built his first quadruped robot, XDog. Two years later, he won second prize and an 80, 000-yuan award in a competition. This marked the beginning of his innovative journey.
The turning point came in 2016 when Wang Xingxing’s XDog test video went popular, securing him funding to start his own company. He independently developed all systems and launched his first quadruped robot the following year.
Since then, the quadruped robotic dog products of Wang Xingxing have been continuously undated and gradually gained popularity beyond its original circle. After the handkerchief-spinning
robot made an amazing appearance at the Spring Festival Gala of the Year of the Snake, on February 14th, Unitree Robotics released a dancing video of the G1 robot. The movements were more smoothly and naturally connected, which made some netizens question whether it was an AI-generated video.

In a recent survey by NPR, 26 percent of rural Americans said there has been a time in the past few years when they needed health care, but did not get it. Some of them said it was because financial barriers kept them from seeing a doctor. But almost a majority of them said it was because health care was too far or difficult to get to.
To address this problem, the Wyoming Center on Aging at the University of Wyoming created a program called Healthy U. Based on a program originally developed at Stanford University, it supports people with a chronic disease and their caregivers by teaching self-management skills and offering a support group.
“In a rural area, if someone can manage their own health better and go to the doctor less often, then that’s a win for everybody,” says Janet Korpela, who works for Healthy U as program development specialist and runs workshops with volunteers for the program. “The volunteers, called ‘leaders’, don’t need a medical background and they just need to be willing to do the 40 hours of free training. Then
they will go back into their communities to teach patients living with chronic conditions how to better manage their health, ” she says.
“Over the course of six weeks, volunteers lead Healthy U participants in weekly meetings. Each meeting focuses on a single topic, like how to make the most of a visit to the doctor. There’s also time set aside in each week for participants to talk about their small weekly goals. That way participants can celebrate their successes sometimes. It’s also an opportunity for them to brainstorm solutions with their peers when they struggle. ”
Marcia Ory, a professor and public health researcher, published a paper on how chronic disease self-management programs work. “It’s effective because most health happens at home,” she says.“Basically you teach people how to set small goals for healthy living. You teach them how to problem-solve. The program is an especially good fit for rural patients since it can be delivered where people live. And the population is less, but the need is just as great.”
What does “this problem” in Paragraph 2 refer to
Doctors tend to be beyond reach.
Caregivers lack a medical background.
Villagers have no money to see a doctor.
Many people suffer from chronic diseases.
What can volunteers in Healthy U do
Reduce the number of doctor visits. B. Get the chance to share their ideas.
C. Explain how to better manage their health. D. Have conversations with friends and family
What does the last paragraph mainly tell us
The way of solving problems. B. The effectiveness of the program.
C. The process of helping patients. D. The cause of the program’s success.
How does the author support the theme of the text
By giving examples. B. By stating arguments.
C. By explaining statistical data. D. By providing research results.

On a warm afternoon, we first saw “Big Red” when my father, mother, and I (Frank) stopped as usual to have a look and do a bit of dreaming at Eaton’s department store window on our way home.
Amongst beautiful toys lay a stunning red satin( 缎子) dress. Mother’s eyes fixed on it. “My goodness,” she whispered, “Look at that!” She then glanced down at her own heavy grey wool coat, worn every winter for as long as I could remember. Mother, constantly doing chores like laundry, tending pigs, and gardening, always wore practical housedresses and an apron(围裙). She owned just one or two “special” dresses for significant events and made most of our comfortable, simple clothes.
“What a silly dress!” she said to herself, shaking her head. “Who on earth would want such a big thing ” Yet, as we walked away, she turned back for one last look. “My goodness! You’d think they’d display something useful!”
As Mother’s Day approached, the red dress was soon forgotten. Mother, intensely practical, never spent money on non-essentials( 必需品). “There are things we need more than this,” she’d insist. Choosing her gift was difficult. When asked, she requested only useful items like tea towels or a new basin.
During our last trip to town before Mother’s Day, with us driving up Main Street, Mother suddenly shouted: “Look!” She pointed excitedly as father drove past Eaton’s. “That big red dress is gone!” she exclaimed in disbelief. Shaking her head, she questioned, “Who’d be fool enough to buy such a dress ” But I was certain I was aware of a distinct trace of longing(一丝渴望) beneath her words. The absence of the dress seemed to highlight its beauty rather than erase it from memory.
Paragraph 1:
On the morning of Mother’s Day, Mother got a large box that read “Eaton’s Finest Basin” on its wrapping paper.
Paragraph 2:
“Oh Frank…” She choked up and couldn’t say a word, tears welling up in her eyes.

第二节 读后续写
Paragraph 1:
On the morning of Mother’s Day, Mother got a large box that read “ Eaton’s Finest Basin” on its wrapping paper. The instant she saw the box, she froze as if rooted to the ground. Mother thought it was a basin, but it turned out to be the“ Big Red” dress when she opened the box. Her prior confusion had given way to excitement for gaining the dress. At that moment, I tiptoed to her and said loudly,“ Happy Mother's Day”, sneaking a smile at my father. Mother was nearly jumping in the air because of my surprising wish.“ We noticed your longing for that dress, so we bought it as a gift for you.” I added in a sincere
tone.
Paragraph 2:
“ Oh Frank...” She choked up and couldn’t say a word, tears welling up in her eyes. I looked at her, with tears sparkling in my eyes to see my mother so emotional.“ Mom, why not try it on ” Hearing my words, she grasped the dress and tried it on, looking at me expectantly. Within minutes, I saw my mom wearing the red dress and walking in front of me, patting her shoulder and stretching the sleeves. “ Wow, you are so beautiful” My father stood there, as if glued on the ground. Mother's dress was waving in the breeze and brightening under the sunshine.“ Tough as life is, I have had the most precious thing— your love.” Mom's words went like a warm stream.
