Zhang Shunyong, a deputy of the two sessions (两会代表) in 2024, suggests that life education should be included in school courses.
“Life education is so important for teenagers because they are one of the weakest groups in society and thousands of students in China are facing mental (心理的) problems,” said Wang Xinhong, a teacher at Shenzhen Middle School.
“As the Internet connects every part of their life, it’s harmful to teenagers’ mental health in some ways because they are receiving different values and facing more unsure situations. This makes them feel tired out,” she added.
Wang has been active in leading the team to practice life education for over ten years. Since 2004, Shenzhen Middle School has made life education a course and has opened“Life Education Week” every year. The week has different themes and activities. In 2015, the school started a Failure Museum, which encouraged students to face, share and learn from their failures.
Wang has great views from her rich experience in solving the mental problems of teenagers. “I believe the key to life education lies in guiding teenagers to manage relationsh ps properly,” said Wang. “Whether they can manage the relationships with humans, nature and even the Internet plays an important role in their mental health.”
Although more schools are providing life education, they are still facing a challenge: how to let students experience it personally instead of only telling them. Wang suggests that more activities should be planned.

How did nearsighted people manage in the pre-glasses past Aristotle may have written the first research results of myopia (近视) around 350B.C. Because their eyeballs are too long, people with this condition can see objects that are close by, but distant objects look blurry.
Neil Handley, a museum curator, said not much is known about how people dealt with myopia before the first lenses for nearsighted people were invented in the 15th century in Europe. And he noted that “even in the history of the invention of glasses, that is a late development.”
There are 13th-century European examples of handheld convex lenses (凸透镜) that were used to treat age-related vision loss known as presbyopia (We’d call them reading glasses today). But the technology wasn’t used to treat nearsightedness for another 200 years.
“Because of the way that lens is held, you can see through it, and the artist has caught the effect that the glass has,” Handley said. Myopia could be something of a modern condition. The number of nearsighted people has risen quickly in recent years, and researchers have predicted that half the world will be myopic by 2050. One study by the College of Optometrists found that myopia is more than twice as common among kids in the U.K. now than it was the 1960s.
Doctors are still trying to find out the cause behind this trend. Some have blamed (归咎于) genetic causes or an increase in studying and screen time.
It’s likely that myopia didn’t influence as many people in the past as it does now. Handley said the late creation of nearsighted glasses suggests that treating the small number of people with myopia wasn’t considered as a most important thing and that people could deal with myopia by making some changes in their lifestyle. Or, maybe there was more of an emphasis (强调) on putting people in jobs that were suited to their ability to see, he said.
For example, people with myopia were historically valued in artisan contexts, such as medieval European monasteries, where illuminating manuscripts (手稿) and painting required making tiny, exact brushstrokes. “The myopic person, far from being given some correction, was actually encouraged to remain in their myopic condition, because it was actually ideal for them doing this job. They don’t necessarily consider it as disability,” Handley said.

A.providing facts B.presenting causes C.comparing opinions D.making up stories

A.People in the past didn’t develop myopia.
B.People with myopia could also lead a normal life.
C.Myopia could be cured by changing people’s lifestyle.
D.Most jobs about art preferred nearsighted people than others.
39.What does the passage mainly tell us

Nowadays people are making themselves beautiful in Korean ways.
“Thank goodness you have double eyelids(双眼皮). Your parents will save a lot of money.” said a family friend when I was five years old. Double eyelids, which almost all the white people have, are rare among Northeast Asians. Only 25% of South Koreans are born with double eyelids.
I never quite understood how having double eyelids saved my parents money until this summer. When I came back to Seoul, everywhere I noticed cosmetic surgery clinics(整形诊所) and advertisements with South Korean women—tall, thin, with milky skin, long legs, nice big eyes and perfect noses. I found that South Korean beauty meant looking as “white” as possible.
Cosmetic surgery has a kind of magical attraction to women — the promise of beauty. Women are often sure that suffering is necessary and worthy in order to be beautiful. This suffering is not for nothing. It is believed that beauty leads to attracting a better-looking partner, which then leads to a better-looking child and a better life.
Appearance is starting to be more important in work places. People with good appearance can have more chances. For example, my 29-year-old brother, who is slim and very tall, gets more job chances than his best friend, who is short and heavy, though both of them came from the same college, had the same good marks in their studies. In fact, many South Koreans believe that physical beauty equals happiness.

53.例文:
Dear Friend,
I’d like to tell you about the problem I had during the growth. When I was in junior high, I had great difficulty in math. The difficult problems and lots of exercises made me feel like I was in a puzzle. I often felt discouraged and lost confidence. Every test score was like a heavy blow. But I didn’t give up. I asked my teacher for advice. The teacher patiently explained my problems and taught me different problem-solving methods. I also did extra exercises during my free time. Additionally, I joined a study group where we discussed and learned from each other. Gradually, my math improved. This taught me that we should be brave to face problems. When we actively search for solutions, we can overcome difficulties and grow.
This is my experience. Hope to be of some value to you.
