During the lively Paris Olympics, while the spotlight shone on the athletes, a group of unsung heroes worked tirelessly behind the scenes, the Olympic volunteers. This year, out of 300,000 applicants, around 45,000 were chosen as volunteers, with 20 percent coming from nearly 150 countries. These volunteers wore bright green vests (马甲) to be easily noticed in the purple venues (场馆).
On my first day as a reporter, I met a technical problem with my media system account. Thankfully, Chinese volunteer Guo came to help me out. “I hope to improve my language, communication skills, and problem-solving methods through this event,” said 24-year-old Guo from Central China’s Hubei Province, who was studying wireless communication at the Paris Institute of Digital Technology. As a former professional swimmer, Guo saw this as her chance to take part in the Olympics, though in a different role.
One of my most memorable experiences was meeting with a French volunteer. When I needed help to find the visitor center, a young man on a scooter (小型摩托车) appeared and offered to take me there.
Volunteers like them were seen everywhere, from bus stops to competition venues, offering directions and helping with a smile. When large crowds left the venues after the events, causing overcrowding, some volunteers sat on high chairs with loudspeakers, providing directions to go outside in both English and French with a smile. These amazing volunteers, truly show the Olympic spirit, making the event and Paris shine even brighter.
24.What can we infer from paragraph 1
A.The spotlight shone on the volunteers.
B.It was easy to find the volunteers in the venues.
C.The volunteers contributed more than the athletes.
D.20 percent of applicants were selected as volunteers.
25.What do we know about Guo according to the text
A.She improved herself through volunteer work.
B.She couldn’t balance her job and volunteer work.
C.She both swam and volunteered in the Paris Olympics.
D.She volunteered as a wireless communication engineer.
26.What is the author’s purpose in writing the text
A.To introduce the Olympic voluntary organization.
B.To praise the service of Paris Olympic volunteers.
C.To show details about the Olympic moving stories.
D.To provide requirements about Olympic volunteers.
27.How is the text mainly developed
A.By listing the benefits of volunteer work. B.By presenting viewpoints from volunteers.
C.By sharing personal stories and experiences. D.By comparing different views on volunteering.
Imagine this: You pick up your phone for a video call with a friend. You can also smell the cookies they just baked. It sounds like a joke, but could it actually happen
Smells are created by tiny molecules (分子) that float through the air and reach your nose. Your nose then sends signals to your brain, which identifies the smell. So, could your phone send these smell molecules to you Scientists are developing digital smell technology that uses a small number of different cartridges (暗盒), each containing a specific smell. Just like how pixels (像素) mix three colors to create images, these cartridges could mix to create different smells.
Smells produced by a future phone could be created using digital codes. Each smell could have a specific recipe made up of different amounts of the ingredients in the cartridges. When you receive a digital smell code, your phone could mix tiny amounts of the different smells from the cartridges to create the desired smell. This mix would then be released through a small vent (出口) on the phone, allowing you to smell it.
Creating a phone that can produce smells involves several challenges. One is designing a system producing thousands of different smells using only a few cartridges. Another is how to control how strong a smell should be and how long a phone should emit it. And phones will also need to sense smells near them and convert (转变) those to digital codes. The cartridges should also be easy to refill and safe to breathe. These problems make it a tricky but exciting area of research.
Scientists are working hard to make smell phones a reality. Maybe one day you’ll be able to not only see and hear your friend’s birthday party over the phone but also smell the candles they blew out!
28.Why does the writer mention “pixels” in the passage
A.To explain how cartridges work clearly.
B.To distinguish the cartridges from pixels.
C.To make a contrast between images and smells.
D.To promote the new digital smell technology.
29.What does paragraph 3 mainly talk about
A.The application of the smell-phone technology.
B.The functions of smell codes produced by a phone.
C.The difference between cartridges and digital codes.
D.The principles of producing smells by future phones.
30.How many challenges are mentioned in para. 4
A.2. B.3. C.4. D.5.
31.What’s the author’s attitude to the possibility of smell phones
A.Indifferent. B.Dismissive. C.Unclear. D.Optimistic.
Bruce Springsteen is still going hard at 75. He played more than 100 shows in 2023 and 2024. How does he fuel himself through such a demanding routine His diet resembles the OMAD diet (one meal a day), an extreme form of intermittent fasting While intermittent fasting typically restricts eating to specific time periods, the OMAD diet limits daily caloric intake into one hour.
Dr. Apovian, an obesity (肥胖) specialist, states, “One meal a day is not a good idea.” While she supports intermittent fasting for her patients with obesity, she warns that the OMAD diet can lead to hunger and overeating. Mattson, a neuroscience professor, adds that those claiming to follow the OMAD diet are likely to eat more.
Dr. Apovian advises eating only between sunrise and sunset, suggesting a protein-rich breakfast and meals with fruits, vegetables and whole grains, and recommends stopping eating by 6 or 7 p.m. Mattson follows a routine of eating from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. and believes the typical American diet — three meals one day, is at odds with human evolution, stating, “Our genes and cellular systems are adapted to function very well without enough food.”
Intermittent fasting studies often have limitations, typically involving small groups and short durations, leading to mixed results. Dr. Mattson’s own research on intermittent fasting suggests that switching between eating and fasting might turn on cellular processes that could improve blood sugar regulation and make cells better able to deal with various forms of stress. Still, the science isn’t clear, and there isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach to how people eat.
32.What do the OMAD dieters probably do
A.Have dinners from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. B.Have meals in the morning and at noon.
C.Have one meal within one hour one day. D.Have meals when they feel hungry.
33.What does the underlined phrase “at odds” probably mean
A.Different. B.The same. C.Strange. D.Irregular.
34.What is Dr. Apovian’s opinion in the passage
A.OMAD diet is beneficial for patients’ health. B.Intermittent fasting can help, but not OMAD.
C.Skipping meals is a good strategy for everyone. D.One meal a day improves blood sugar regulation.
35.Which of the following can be the best title for the text
A.Is it OK to Skip One Meal Once a Day B.No More Than Three Meals Are Better
C.Is the OMAD Diet Effective for Weight Loss D.Is Intermittent Fasting the Good Way to Stay Fit

Neeya, a dog in my family, liked to follow my mom and dad everywhere they went. Our house was only a mile away from the park. So we would walk down a wooded path to the park every day. The path was right in front of our house. Neeya would follow us down that path every day. But last week, mom and dad had work to do, so this job was given to me.
I got ready for our walk in the park near our home with Neeya, just like before. Neeya’s paws delicately stepped over every stick and stone, seemingly just content to be with me and to be included in the journey. When I got to the river, Neeya suddenly barked repeatedly, as if he felt like leading me somewhere. This made me turn around to see what caught Neeya’s attention. Guided by Neeya, I came across a kid next to the banks of the river. Due to the absence of a fence, I reminded the kid the importance of staying away from the river for his own safety.
“There’s a cat struggling in the middle of the river!” the kid said anxiously. I found the poor wet cat. The cat’s weak meow was muffled (掩盖) by the sound of the rushing river. If Neeya hadn’t been there, we would have never come across this helpless little cat. The kid tried to use a stick, but the cat was too scared and tired to climb up the stick. She was also too young to rescue the cat from the rushing water.
The kid said “Could you help me rescue it together ”

Hearing the kid’s words “A good boy!”, I looked up and noticed Neeya all in wet.

Malls are popular places for Americans to go. Some people spend so much time at malls that they are called “mall rats”. Mall rats shop until they drop in the hundreds of stores under one roof.
People like malls for many reasons. They feel safe because malls have police stations or private security guards. Parking is usually free, and the atmosphere inside is always fine. The newest malls have beautiful rest area with waterfalls and large green trees.
The largest mall in the United States is the Mall of America in Minnesota. It has 350 stores, eight night clubs, and a seven-acre park! There are parking spaces for 12,750 cars. About 750,000 people shop every week.
The first indoor mall in the United States was built in 1965 in Edina, Minnesota. Now people shop in malls, of course. They also eat in food houses that have food from all over the world. They see movies here. Some people even get their daily exercise by doing the new sport of mall walking. Others go to malls to meet friends. In a word, now residents can actually live in their favorite shopping center.

根据文章第二段“Just like how pixels (像素) mix three colors to create images, these cartridges could mix to create different smells.(就像像素混合三种颜色来创建图像一样,这些暗盒可以混合产生不同的气味。)”
根据第三段“Smells produced by a future phone could be created using digital codes.(未来手机产生的气味可以用数字代码来创建)”是该段的主题句,再根据“Each smell could have a specific recipe made up of different amounts of the ingredients in the cartridges. When you receive a digital smell code, your phone could mix tiny amounts of the different smells from the cartridges to create the desired smell. This mix would then be released through a small vent (出口) on the phone, allowing you to smell it.(每种气味都可以有一个特定的配方,由墨盒中不同成分的不同量组成。
根据第四段“One is designing a system producing thousands of different smells using only a few cartridges. Another is how to control how strong a smell should be and how long a phone should emit it. And phones will also need to sense smells near them and convert (转变) those to digital codes. The cartridges should also be easy to refill and safe to breathe.(一是设计一个仅使用几个暗盒就能产生数千种不同气味的系统。另一个是如何控制气味的强度以及手机应该散发气味的时长。而且手机还需要感知附近的气味并将其转换为数字代码。这些暗盒还应该易于补充且呼吸安全。)”可知,本段一共提到了四个挑战,分别是设计能产生多种气味的系统、控制气味强度和散发时长、将感知到的气味转换为数字代码以及保证暗盒易于补充和呼吸安全。故选C项。
31.推理判断题。根据文章最后一段“Scientists are working hard to make smell phones a reality. Maybe one day you’ll be able to not only see and hear your friend’s birthday party over the phone but also smell the candles they blew out!(科学家们正在努力使气味手机成为现实。也许有一天,你不仅可以通过手机看到和听到朋友的生日派对,还可以闻到他们吹灭的蜡烛的味道)”可知,作者认为科学家们的努力会让气味手机成为现实,并且对未来使用气味手机的场景进行了积极的设想,由此可以推断出作者对气味手机的可能性持乐观态度,故选D项。

【导语】这是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了间歇性禁食这种饮食方式的特点以及专家对此饮食方式的不同看法。
32.细节理解题。根据第一段“His diet resembles the OMAD diet (one meal a day), an extreme form of intermittent fasting (间歇性进食). While intermittent fasting typically restricts eating to specific time periods, the OMAD diet limits daily caloric intake into one hour. (他的饮食类似于OMAD饮食(一天一餐),这是一种极端形式的间歇性禁食。间歇性禁食通常将饮食限制在特定的时间段,而OMAD饮食将每天的热量摄入限制在一小时内)”可知,OMAD节食者可能每天一小时内吃一顿饭。故选C。
33.词句猜测题。根据划线词上文“believes the typical American diet — three meals one day(典型的美国饮食——一天三餐)”以及后文“with human evolution”和“Our genes and cellular systems are adapted to function very well without enough food.(我们的基因和细胞系统适应了在没有足够食物的情况下也能很好地工作)”可知,后文提到我们的基因和细胞系统适应了在没有足够食物的情况下也能很好地工作,即典型的美国饮食——一天三餐——与人类的进化有差异。 故选A。
根据第二段“While she supports intermittent fasting for her patients with obesity, she warns that the OMAD diet can lead to hunger and overeating.(虽然她支持对肥胖患者进行间歇性禁食,但她警告说,OMAD饮食会导致饥饿和暴饮暴食)”可知,Apovian博士认为间歇性禁食有帮助,但OMAD则没有。故选B。
通读全文,并根据最后一段“Intermittent fasting studies often have limitations, typically involving small groups and short durations, leading to mixed results.

39.根据上文“Quit living with a “victim mentality”. Yes, we all experience moments when our trust is tested or violated at some stages in our lives. But there’s no point in allowing yourself trapped in the thoughts of being a victim. (不要抱着“受害者的心态”生活。是的,在人生的某个阶段,我们都经历过信任受到考验或侵犯的时刻。但让自己陷入成为受害者的想法是没有意义的。)”可知,上文提到“让自己陷入成为受害者的想法是没有意义的”,本句为本段最后一句,故说明正确的做法。故G选项“相反,从这些时刻中学习,并利用它们来增强你的品格。”符合语境,故选G。
40.根据上文“Think about the question: Have you lost everything Obviously, you’ve lost your trust, but not everything. (想想这个问题:你失去了一切吗?很明显,你失去了信任,但不是全部。)”以及后文“It’s a healthy approach to make space for positive growth and forgiveness.

“passion for...”

66.Dear Editor,
We made a survey about the learning ways in our school last week. As is demonstrated in the bar chart, those using papers to study occupy 47%, followed by 38% students in my school, who get used to using all the three means of study. 11% of the students surveyed prefer to use computers. Students who think smartphones can help their study account for the rest of 4%.
Apparently, the traditional way of study students read books and take notes in pen is still the choice by most puters or phones usage is supposed to do harm to eyesight, which is the reason why a small number of students choose.
As far as I am concerned, if used properly, all these means of study can benefit us.
67.范文:
The kid said “Could you help me rescue it together ”. Witnessing the cat that was half dead with fear, I gave a nod without hesitation. I looked around and picked up a long branch and extended it towards the cat cautiously. When I stood just a meter or two from the roaring river, I conquered my fear. At that time I saw Neeya swim towards the cat and pushed it to the branch. Luckily, the cat caught the branch and I managed to bring the cat ashore through our relentless efforts. I cradled the little cat in my arms.
Hearing the kid’s words “A good boy!”, I looked up and noticed Neeya all in wet. After checking the cat was OK, I rushed to Neeya and patted him gently. He seemed like a hero, whose bravery inspired me to help others in trouble. Meanwhile, the playful cat wagged its tail with excitement. I breathed a sigh of relief. “Without your help, the cat would die.” the kid murmured. “You and Neeya are the true heroes.” I smiled to her.
