Last summer I went to one of the world's most famous historical places, the Forbidden City in Beijing, China．It was the home of the emperors of the last two dynasties(朝代) in China, the Ming and Qing Dynasties．
The Forbidden City was built in 1420．The palace has over 10，000 rooms．It was where the emperors dealt with the official business with their ministers(大臣)．
In Mandarin(普通话), the Forbidden City is called the Purple Forbidden City．However, the colour of the palace itself is not purple．The colour purple stands for the power of the great emperors of China．It was so sacred(神圣的) that the commoners(平民) could not even dream of ever going in．
The emperors also had some of the largest festival celebrations at the Forbidden City．During Chinese New Year, the emperor would invite all the members of his family and his officials to a banquet．The banquet had a hundred and eight Chinese dishes．It was such an expensive banquet that it could feed a commoner's family for three generations(代)．
Right now the Forbidden City is known as a historical site for tourists from all over the world．Everyone can go there．It is a museum with priceless Chinese antiques(古董) and treasures in it．
I really learned a lot about the Chinese culture and its history from this trip to the Forbidden City．It was like a dream come true to go on the trip and see the things that I had always wanted to see．

Millions of people visit Machu Picchu each year．It is an ancient Inca city in the mountains of Peru．Steep(陡峭的) steps and rough paths make the trip a challenge．It used to be nearly impossible for people with a physical disability．
Wheel the World has changed that．The company offers wheelchair accessible tours of Machu Picchu and other places around the world．Camilo Navarro set up Wheel the World with his best friend, Alvaro Silberstein．Silberstein uses a wheelchair．
Navarro and Silberstein started Wheel the World after hiking Torres del Paine in 2016．It is a national park in Chile．Silberstein was the first person to travel the park in a wheelchair．“Our story went popular，” he says．“We started receiving hundreds of requests from people wanting to repeat this trip．”
Today, Wheel the World runs 40 wheelchair accessible trips in five countries．The company offers cars and hotels with ramps(斜坡)．It directs people to accessible(可进入的) bathrooms．It even teaches local guides to help wheelchair users get around．
Wheel the World uses a special wheelchair for the Machu Picchu trip．It can be pushed like a wheelbarrow(独轮车)．It also folds up(折叠) and can be put into a car easily．“It's a super strong wheelchair．It allows you to get to every corner in all kinds of places，”Navarro says．
Wheel the World hopes to give people with disabilities the same opportunities as everyone else．
