new study shows that kids do pick up new knowledge and skills faster than grown-ups.
This happens because of a special chemical(化学物质)in the brain called GABA.It helps

children,this study looked at GABA levels before,during,and after learning in kids aged 8 to 11,

Scientists from the US and Germany studied how kids and adults learn by checking their

children's brains quickly made more GABA while learning,and this extra GABA stayed
for a while after the learing.But in adults,the levels of GABA did not change at all
"We found that children leamed much more rapidly than adults.It agrees with the common
belief that children are better at learning new things,"said Dr.Sebastian Frank,one of the
scientists from Germany."Qur results also point to GABA as a key player in helping kids lear
faster."
Scientists hope to use these findings to help adults leam better,too.In the future,they may
develop a new technology to increase GABA levels in adults'brains to help them leam faster!
