The culture of celebrating Chinese New Year can be traced back to the early dynasties. Chinese all over the world have developed various customs for the New Year.
But the only thing that hasn't changed is the New Year's grocery shop, ("New Year Gift").
The New Year's Gift is to buy a large number of necessities,
such as Spring Festival couplets, blessings, new clothes or
food during the New Year.
Every New Year, people hang up New Year pictures. Despite being a Chinese folk art, the pictures often reflect people’s traditions and beliefs, as they pin up their hopes for the future. New Year pictures, like Spring Festival couplets, actually originated from “door gods”.
There are more types of Spring Festival couplets than New Year pictures, and there are many ways of passing them around the house, and according to different content on the couplets, they will be posted in the corresponding places.

Generally, there are chickens (sounds like: with ideas), fish (with spare prosperity), oysters (Better economy), lettuce (create wealth), and bean curd sticks (to feel satisfied). The ingredients are homophonic to different blessings.

It is said that the New Year’s money can suppress evil spirits, and the younger generations can spend the first year peacefully with the money.
New Year's Eve money traditionally means warding off evil spirits and blessing peace.
