Every day, it seems, a new gadget (设备) promises to help me run farther and faster, sleep better, or monitor (监控) my heart rate more effectively (有效地). These gadgets claim they’ll make me a “better me,” or so the story goes.
Some of them might actually help, but a few months ago, I decided to sell all my sports gadgets. I now record my running times with just a pen and a notepad. Soon after, I started training for a marathon the old-fashioned way—without a device on my wrist tracking my pace or heart rate. To my surprise, running without all that information turned out to be a real joy.
In the past, whenever my smartwatch told me I was running slower than I “should,” I’d force myself to speed up, even if it was clear that my body didn’t want to. But this time, I ran the way I wanted to.
On several occasions (场合), I was surprised to see real breakthroughs (突破) in my running times when I checked my notepad after workouts. If I had seen those numbers during the run, I might have slowed down. But since I didn’t know, I just kept running.
Another positive thing about getting rid of all my running gadgets is that it’s helping me concentrate (集中注意力) more on the running itself. Since I no longer feel like I need technology to run well, I can go out and run without worrying about battery life.
So, what’s the lesson here Well, we could very easily replace the example of running with writing, studying, or anything else. No matter what it is, the more we worry about improving, the more it hurts our performance.
Should you stop using technology to “improve” your performance Of course, that’s up to you. However, if I were asked that question, I’d certainly say that I’m better off without it.
1.When did the writer decide to sell all of the sports gadgets
2.How does the writer record running times now
3.What is another positive thing about not using running gadgets anymore
4.What do you think of sports gadgets Why do you think so (at least 30 words)

Bitwalking is an invention made by a small company in London. To make people walk more, this new app on the mobile phone is paying people for walking, which is based on (在……的基础上) their daily walking steps.
With this app, walkers can earn one “Bitwalking dollar” for about 1, 000 steps (about 8 kilometers). Three bitwalking dollars can be earned by one person per day at most. The money people earned can be spent in special online stores or exchanged for cash.
One goal behind the app is to make people healthier. But the designers also have another goal: to improve people’s lives. In poor countries, people have to walk far to work, or to school, or simply to collect water. Workers in the countryside earn less than one dollar a day. By walking around with the Bitwalking app, they could earn three times more.
The company has also set up Bitwalking centers in some poor areas. At the centers, local people will learn how to use the Bitwalking dollars or trade (交易) them for cash. Bitwalking is really helpful in changing lives!

According to the National Health Commission (NHC, 国家卫生健康委员会), by 2030, more than 70% of adults in China and over 30% of children could be overweight or obese (肥胖的) if no action is taken.
Being overweight can make everyday activities hard and make people feel terrible about themselves. More importantly, being overweight can lead to serious health problems like heart problems, diabetes (糖尿病), and even some kinds of cancer (癌症). The NHC has started the Weight Management Year (体重管理年) program to encourage healthy lifestyles.
So, do you know how to manage weight First, try to have good eating habits. Eat meals at proper times. Have breakfast every day and finish dinner by 7 pm. Eat until 70% full and eat slowly. Begin with vegetables, then meat, and finally rice or noodles. This helps control how much you eat. Second, getting enough sleep is also important, at least 7 hours a night. What’s more, you should do exercise often. Try to exercise for 150 to 300 minutes each week, like walking or bike-riding. Add strength (力量) training 2 to 3 times a week. Don’t sit for too long. Stand up and move every hour.

Recently, I started to use an app to keep a record of my running. Each run, I wanted to go a little farther, run a little faster and burn more calories (卡路里). Last night I finished an 8.3-km run in 46 minutes and burnt 468 calories. In comparison, my run two days ago was 8.6 km in 46 minutes with 483 calories burnt. This inner self-comparison left me feeling disappointed. I became so focused on the numbers that I forgot to consider what I achieved.
These tiny differences in numbers kept me away from the bigger picture: how did I actually feel after completing my most recent run Well, honestly, I was completely tired out. What good is running to beat your top score if you don’t feel on top
We should exercise for the purpose of building our confidence. And working out harder and faster may serve that purpose. But confidence building comes with being able to do more in our day-to-day life, experiencing less pain and more freedom in movement, and feeling good after a workout. Fitness should help us with our quality of life, the ability to sleep, and good memory, among other things. Fitness should not just come with the eagerness for the success in numbers.
In our busy lives, we only have limited time for fitness. When we do physical exercise, we should value what feels good over what looks or sounds good. Sometimes what serves us and our health is coming home and doing a light workout, like going on a short bike ride. Sometimes what serves us is simply going to sleep at 9:30 p.m. instead of forcing ourselves into a workout. Apps of this kind are a great way for us to keep an eye on our health. But don’t read into the numbers to the point where you lose out on feeling proud that you are taking care of yourself. So my advice is: when you do physical exercise, make sure you feel good about yourself over feeling good about the numbers.
58.Why did the writer start to use the app
59.What did the writer forget to consider when he became too focused on the numbers
60.According to the writer, what should be our purpose of doing exercise
61.Why are apps of this kind a great way for us
62.When you do physical exercise, which do you think is more important: feeling good about yourself or feeling good about the numbers Why

In many Chinese cities, primary and middle schools have made class breaks longer from 10 to 15 minutes since the fall semester (学期) started. The governments (政府) want students and teachers to do more outdoor activities.
