In Katmai National Park and Preserve, a mother bear and her cub walk toward us, then sit down and nap, completely at ease with us being around. And the feeling is shared. My husband, nervous about being near such large predators(食肉动物)an hour ago, now relaxes so much that he falls asleep in the grass too.
The Katmai coast can only be reached by air or sea. Its faraway location helps keep bear viewing safe. Our guide, Bachrach, tells us that the common view of bears as violent predators killing for meat actually only shows part of the picture. The Katmai spring sees bears feast on plants and dig for shellfish during low tide. From late June to September, they move to salmon-filled rivers for the salmon, but they also keep eating grass and berries.
Each time we spot a bear, Bachrach reminds us to read its behavior. If the bear appears relaxed, we can watch for a while from a safe distance. As responsible visitors, we must never let it get too close, and never let even a bit of our food fall to the ground. Bachrach learned this the hard way after a bear entered a cabin and stayed near the door for days, expecting more after finding fruit. Besides, we must also avoid disturbing the bears while they feed. As they drink along the river, we carefully move around them.
“What do you think people get out of seeing bears ” I ask Bachrach.
“I've watched visitors go from hesitant to amazed, then comfortable, and then observant and thoughtful. Hopefully they learn to share space with wild animals. Those who don't learn to share don't grow alongside each other. And those who share, do,” he says.

A.He is uninterested in bears.
B.He enjoys the author's company.
C.He feels safe in the environment.
D.He doesn't want to disturb the bears.

26.What should a responsible bear visitor do
A.Talk to bears.
B.Watch bears only.
C.Follow bears closely.
D.Share food with bears.
27.What does Bachrach hope people learn from bear viewing
A.To survive in the wild.
B.To increase space for wildlife.
C.To look after bears thoughtfully.
D.To live in peace with wildlife.

In 1985, lionfish were seen in Florida for the first time. It was really a surprise because Florida is half a world away from their native place in the Pacific Ocean. By 2000, the lionfish had spread uncontrollably and become a danger to coral reefs (珊瑚礁) and their neighbors. Scientists aren't 100% sure, but most probably lionfish found their way to the waters because of their beauty and some thoughtless aquarium (水族馆) owners who most probably released the fish into the ocean in Florida.
They are deadly to their surroundings because of their hunger. Lionfish can eat an impressive 90% of their body weight every day. And the lionfish isn't picky. More than 100 species are on its menu. With such a large need, lionfish take food away from commercially profitable fishes, affecting local communities that depend on this kind of fishing. Besides, there are more females than males, and they lay more than 2 million eggs every year. This has knock-on effects on the local underwater wildlife. For example, lionfish eat too many cleaner fish. Cleaner fish eat parasites (寄生虫) off of a lot of species, and parasites can cause diseases that lead to less diversity (多样性) in the ocean, so the cleaner fish's work is especially important for the health of a reef's population.
Scientists are trying to control the damage by calling on people to put them on their dinner table. Lionfish may be the perfect invaders, but they have one weakness—the way they taste. In addition, several ocean protection groups are running removal projects in which divers and fishermen are encouraged to hunt lionfish. But still, there's a chance that all these activities are just tackling the tip of the iceberg. We can only see the effects of them in shallow water. But lionfish have been found as deep as 300 meters. Nobody knows how big the population is down there.
28.What likely brought lionfish to Florida
A.Climate change. B.Human activity.
C.Ocean movement. D.Wildlife protection.
29.What is an effect that lionfish have on the ocean
A.Causing the reefs to disappear.
B.Eating all the fish in the ocean.
C.Taking food away from people.
D.Breaking the ocean living system.
30.Which best explains the underlined phrase “tackling the tip of the iceberg” in the last paragraph
A.Getting straight to the point.
B.Solving the problem completely.
C.Touching the surface of the problem.
D.Being totally useless to solve the problem.
31.Which of the following is a suitable title for the text
A.Hungry fish are increasing fast
B.Act now to protect ocean wildlife
C.Ocean wildlife are in great danger
D.Lionfish take over the ocean in Florida
D
Nature works like a big clock. Everything is arranged in order and interconnected. Every part has its place and its role. Take the wolf for example. As meat-eaters, wolves regulate the number of plant-eaters so that they do not reproduce too much. All animals and plants are closely related in a system.
The wolves remind me of a story from my childhood when my grandfather gave me an old clock. The first thing I did was take the clock apart to find out how it worked. Even though I was sure that I knew how to put it back together in working order, I couldn't do it. After I rebuilt it, there were a few parts left over and a grandfather who was not in the best of moods. In the wild, wolves play the role of such parts. If we remove them, not only do the enemies of sheep and cattle disappear, but the system of nature also begins to run differently, so differently that rivers change course and many local bird species die out.
And things can also go wrong when a species is added. For example, the introduction of a nonnative fish leads to a great decrease in the local deer population. Because of a fish The earth's ecosystems, it seems, are a bit too complex (复杂的) for us to draw up simple rules of cause and effect. Even protection work can have unexpected results. Who knew, for example, that recovering crane(鹤) populations in Europe would affect the production of Iberian ham
So it's high time we took a good look at the interconnections between species both large and small. It's important for us to realize that even small interventions(干预) can have huge influences, and we'd better keep our hands off anything in nature that we do not have to touch.
32.What does the underlined word “regulate” mean in paragraph 1
A.Control. B.Count. C.Record. D.Increase.
33.What does the author want to show with the story in paragraph 2
A.Curiosity kills the cat.
B.Every part matters.
C.Clocks are hard to rebuild.
D.Grandfather's love lasts.
34.Why can things also go wrong when a species is added
A.Local species will disappear soon.
B.Rules of cause and effect are simple in nature.
C.The interconnections in nature are complex.
D.Protection projects are too hard to complete.
35.What does the author suggest people do
A.Pay more attention to small animals.
B.Stay away from protection work.
C.Take a new look at meat-eaters.
D.Think twice before stepping in.

When my daughters reached the third and fourth grades, I sometimes allowed them to walk to and from school alone if the weather permitted. One warm spring day, a little dog followed them home after school. It had short legs and long ears. It was the cutest dog I had ever seen and the girls begged me to keep it.
The dog was about twelve weeks old. It had no collar(项圈) or identifying marks of any sort. I didn't know what to do. I thought about posting an advertisement but I really didn't want to. It would break the kids' hearts if someone should show up. Besides, its owners should have watched it more closely.
By the end of the week the dog was part of our family. It was very intelligent and good with the girls. The following week, something told me to check the lost and found section in the local paper. One particular advertisement jumped out at me and my heart beat with fear for what I read. Someone was begging for the return of a lost dog in the neighborhood of our grade school. The person sounded extremely eager. My hand shook, and I couldn't bring myself to pick up the paper.
Instead, I pretended I hadn't seen the advertisement. I quickly put the paper away in the drawer and continued with my dusting. I never said a word about it to the kids or my husband.
We named the dog Molly. It followed the girls everywhere they went. When they went outside, it was one step behind them. When they did the housework, it was there to lend a hand.
There was only one problem with this seemingly perfect picture: my conscience(良心) was bothering me. I knew in my heart I had to call that number in the paper and see if our Molly was the dog the person was desperately seeking. It was the most difficult thing I had ever done.
With mixed feelings, I finally picked up the phone.
I asked the woman to come in and she quickly bent over and hugged Molly tightly.

根据Day 2: Journey to Tadoba中“Take the early morning flight to Nagpur.” 故选A。
根据第一段中的“My husband, nervous about being near such large predators an hour ago, now relaxes so much that he falls asleep in the grass too.”
根据第二段中的“The Katmai spring sees bears feast on plants and dig for shellfish during low tide. From late June to September, they move to salmon-filled rivers for the salmon, but they also keep eating grass and berries.” 故选A。
根据第三段中的“As responsible visitors, we must never let it get too close, and never let even a bit of our food fall to the ground.”和“Besides, we must also avoid disturbing the bears while they feed.”
根据最后一段中的“Hopefully they learn to share space with wild animals. Those who don't learn to share don't grow alongside each other. And those who share, do”可知,Bachrach希望人们通过观看熊,学会与野生动物共享空间,也就是与野生动物和平共处。故选D。
C
根据第一段中的“Scientists aren't 100% sure, but most probably lionfish found their way to the waters because of their beauty and some thoughtless aquarium owners who most probably released the fish into the ocean in Florida.”
根据最后一段中的“We can only see the effects of them in shallow water. But lionfish have been found as deep as 300 meters. Nobody knows how big the population is down there.”
Para.
Para.
Para.
根据第一段中的“As meat-eaters, wolves regulate the number of plant-eaters so that they do not reproduce too much.” 故选A。
根据第三段中的“The earth's ecosystems, it seems, are a bit too complex for us to draw up simple rules of cause and effect.”
根据最后一段中的“It's important for us to realize that even small interventions can have huge influences, and we'd better keep our hands off anything in nature that we do not have to touch.”

One possible version:
With mixed feelings, I finally picked up the phone. With butterflies in my stomach, I dialed the telephone number. Secretly I prayed no one would answer, but someone did. The voice on the other end was that of a young woman. After I described the dog to her in detail, she immediately wanted to come over. I said that my daughters loved it very much and meanwhile apologized for not having contacted her a few days before. 30 minutes later, the bell rang and Molly was barking. I opened the door, forcing myself to face it.
I asked the woman to come in and she quickly bent over and hugged Molly tightly. Molly started wagging its tail and barking excitedly as if it had recognized someone familiar. Surprised and excited, the woman told me that she couldn't sleep well without it and thanked us for keeping her dog for these days. She offered to give me some cash as a reward, but I refused. After she took Molly away, I cracked a smile. I knew I had done the right thing—that puppy was exactly where it belonged.
