The sound of my mother preparing breakfast fills the house—my morning alarm.
As I walk toward the kitchen, I'm greeted by my mother standing by the cooker. She effortlessly cooks a dish that mixes Western and Eastern styles, a beloved breakfast classic in our family. This is my grandmother's recipe (食谱).
Since my grandmother's passing, I've become more aware of my mother's aging and her devotion to cooking for us. She has cooked for her family for more than 30 years, dividing her time among three countries—Korea, Canada and Germany. When my parents visit us from Korea, they stay with us for several months. My mother helps around the house, showing her cooking skills to provide delicious meals for me, my partner and our kids. Every other year, she and my dad will travel to Berlin to spend a couple of weeks with my sister and her partner.
According to Statista, most Canadians report spending between 31 and 60 minutes preparing an average weekday dinner for themselves and others in their houses. Ten percent state that they spend more than an hour preparing their evening meal. My mother belongs to that 10 percent.
Her cooking goes beyond the kitchen, starting with careful grocery shopping trips where she examines produce and finds the best deals. She takes everyone's preferences and needs into account. The meal she creates becomes a ritual (仪式) , bringing the family together to connect and share. Helping her out in the kitchen requires a great deal of patience. At lunchtime recently, Sha Jinyuan, 22, sent a WeChat message to her meal partner, or fandazi, asking, “What to eat ” After her partner replied with “I don't know.”, Sha said, “Let's just go!”
Are these two people friends No, they are dazi, or activity partners for specific pursuits, such as playing games, taking classes, traveling, or hiking and camping. Dazi now refers to a new kind of social connection with the aim of pursuing shared interests, rather than developing lasting friendships.
Early last month, a study of 1,335 people conducted by China Youth Daily's social survey center found that 72.6% said they have one or more dazi. More than half of them said they go for meals with dazi, while over 30% seek dazi for sports, travel, learning and playing games. More than 20% have dazi for shopping or walking their children.
The survey carried out last month found that young people seek dazi to share similar interests, to accompany them or share costs, to expand their social circle, and to motivate, monitor and help one another. Some young people search for dazi because their lives are too fast-paced and their social circles are too small.
Xu Kun, an expert at the 12355 hotline for youth psychological counseling (咨询) and legal aid in Dalian, said, “Young people enjoy doing things together. With less responsibility and pressure, the two people concerned get along more easily. This is why young people these days are enthusiastic about forming dazi circles.”
“A dazi relationship not only meets young people's social needs, but also reduces the basic costs in terms of time, energy and emotion required to keep a close relationship,” Xu added. In the new kind of relationship, less responsibility gives people more freedom, but may also cause some problems. After all, dazi circles are quite different from real friendship, as some experts pointed out.
28.What is the purpose of paragraph 1
A.To state a fact.
B.To show a conversation.
C.To raise a question.
D.To introduce the topic.
29.How does the author show us that dazi circles are very popular in paragraph 3
A.By telling stories. B.By showing data.
C.By giving examples. D.By making comparison.
30.Why do young people seek dazi instead of lasting friendship nowadays
A.Because they have no time to find real friends.
B.Because their social circles are too small for them.
C.Because dazi requires less responsibility and offers more freedom.
D.Because dazi can give them a hand whenever they need help.
31.What will the author talk about next
A.How to turn dazi into real friends.
B.What problems dazi circles may bring about.
C.Whether the new relationship will last or not.
D.Why so many people prefer forming dazi circles.

I've spent much of my life dealing with written and spoken words. Now I'm a technologist making use of natural language processing for the good of humans. Given that I work in artificial intelligence(AI), I'm realizing something dangerous is happening. Machines are ruining the way we communicate.
AI voices are normalized and yet cold, no matter which accent(口音) you set your Siri or Amazon Alexa into. It's difficult to normalize language to be inoffensive because sometimes we do make people feel uncomfortable or even make them annoyed. Yet this is exactly what we're asking artificial intelligence to do for us on a billion-person scale. Once these rules are carried out by machines, they're unavoidable and create much bigger issues.
We notice that there is an active desire to only include standardized language in AI-powered tools in an attempt to avoid including potentially hateful or offensive language. And these AI-powered tools are exactly what we use to complete our thoughts almost at any given time. They are everywhere—in our emails, word processors, and web pages. The machines are pushing us into a common tongue, and we accept it as a matter of convenience. But what's the cost We're trading uniqueness and accuracy for convenience. We're also handing the power of acceptable speech to machines not people.
In the real world, people don't communicate like a Wikipedia(维基百科) article. We use tones(语气), humor and facial expressions. We can tell where people were born based on their accents and wording. Humans are truly unique, and our communication is constantly changing. So we should demand that AI systems promote individuality and uniqueness. We should demand to know how AI is developed and the data used to build it. Because we all deserve this.
32.What does the underlined word “inoffensive” in paragraph 2 mean
A.Hateful. B.Valuable. C.Harmless. D.Beneficial.
33.How can we promote AI voice
A.AI voice should be legalized.
B.AI voice should be modernized.
C.AI voice should be standardized.
D.AI voice should be personalized.
34.What's the main idea of the last paragraph
A.AI systems should be improved.
B.AI systems deserve more support.
C.AI systems are becoming more human-like.
D.AI systems are destroying our communication.
35.What's the author's tone in the passage
A.Concerned. B.Supportive. C.Humorous. D.Matter-of-fact.

As English learners, you may feel anxious when you have to speak English in front of others. 36 Here are some ways to help you build confidence in speaking English.
Adopt a practice and repetition routine (惯例).When something becomes natural for you, you begin to feel confident of doing it. And the only way you can arrive at this “natural” way of doing that thing is through practice and repetition. 37 So write down what you may talk about and then practise saying it aloud and repeatedly before an English meeting.
38 You may lose confidence when your spoken English is misunderstood by listeners. In most cases, it's because the listeners are not used to your accent or you speak too fast. There is no doubt that speaking slowly is easy to achieve.
Don't run away from uncomfortable situations. It is natural for any human being to avoid uncomfortable situations when possible, but you will build your confidence in the uncomfortable zones. 39
All in all, learning to speak English confidently doesn't happen overnight. 40 As the saying goes, “No pains, no gains.” As long as you make enough efforts, you will surely improve your spoken English, and then you will naturally become confident of speaking English in front of others.
A.Purposely speak more slowly.
B.Try to understand your listeners.
C.It takes time and you need to make continuous efforts.
D.It's the same principle as speaking English confidently.
E.It is common to make some mistakes when you speak English.

When I was in middle school, my family moved to Seattle, where my parents started their new business—a small grocery store downstairs from my house. As a girl of shy and reserved nature, I had to take a fresh start to fit into the sophisticated city life.
One sunny day, my school announced an exciting event, a talent show for the local food bank. Students were encouraged to showcase their unique talents in front of the public in the city hall on National Day. A buzz of excitement filled the school as everyone began preparing for the big day. Deep down, I felt a spark of curiosity and a desire to participate. However, my self-doubt held me back, “I don't have any special skills to share.”
Days turned into weeks, and the talent show drew closer. I couldn't shake the upsetting feeling until one day, Emma, one of the most popular girls in my class, came to me while I was helping in the grocery store after class. “How about singing together in the talent show ” she grinned, “I heard you singing a tune, along the way back home. I can't help following you here.” Gosh, I couldn't believe my ears. Emma, with personality and popularity, acknowledged my little talent. Since Emma had the world's prettiest voice, I felt like being favoured by fortune.
“You two The talent show for the food bank ”my mum bent towards us and her face lit up. “A big occasion.” Then a thought seemed to cross her mind. “Why not practise right now upstairs I bet you'll be a perfect match.” Winking at us, she seemed to know we were thinking alike.
Emma and I embarked on rehearsing almost every single day after school. We brainstormed, exchanged ideas and rehearsed the scene. As the days rolled by, I was feeling pretty good about our act. But the day before the performance, Emma called and said she had an acute stomachache and couldn't perform in any shape or form.
注意:续写词数应为150个左右。
I was completely knocked out by the news.

第二节
One possible version:
I was completely knocked out by the news. What should I do Having prepared for such a long time, I didn't think of that coming up. Feeling at a loss, I was brainstorming as hard as I could to think of a solution, when a gentle touch on my back brought me back to reality. It was my mum, who looked at me with care and concern. “You have prepared for it enough. You can do it by yourself,” she said after my explanation. I looked back at her eyes, and a sense of confidence and warmth swelled up in my heart. Yes, I could do it myself.
Finally came the big moment. Looking around the audience, I stepped onto the stage, with butterflies in my stomach. My voice trembled at first, but with the melodies flew around, the nervousness was gone with the wind. Emotions filled in my song, I performed as naturally as I sang every day. I saw my mum, who was looking at me with reassurance and care. It turned out to be a good performance, which helped me conquer my fears and turned me into a new person.
