Mutianyu Great Wall is one of the most popular parts of the Great Wall. It lies to the north of Beijing City. Tourists can visit it all year round, but the best time is April, May, September, and October.
Last week, I visited Mutianyu Great Wall with my parents. At first, I just thought it was not as busy as Badaling Great Wall. I didn’t think it would be much fun. But in fact, I really enjoyed myself there!
The first interesting part was taking a chairlift (吊椅) up to the wall. Of course, you can also take the cable car (缆车). It makes it easier for children and old people to climb the wall. The next interesting part was walking along the wall. When you’re on the wall, you’ll be surprised at the beautiful sights. But the most interesting part of the trip was the ride. You can take a slide (滑梯) down from the wall. It takes about two or three minutes to slide all the way down. That’s why more and more people like to visit Mutianyu Great Wall.
The secret of an enjoyable visit is to visit the wall early. Most people visit the wall on a day trip by coach (长途汽车) from the city of Beijing. If you arrive before the first coaches you may be able to enjoy the sights of the wall by yourself. It’s really wonderful. Anyway, you can’t miss Mutianyu Great Wall when you stay in Beijing.

The Dead Sea’s magical water will keep you floating (漂浮) like a beach ball. Bring a book—you can even read while staying on the water!
The Dead Sea is in the Jordan Rift Valley in southwest Asia. It is about 50 kilometers long and 15 kilometers wide at its widest point. It is about 430 meters below sea level (海平面), making it the lowest point on earth’s land.
Yuncheng Salt Lake, also called “China’s Dead Sea”, is in Yuncheng City of Shanxi Province. As China’s oldest saltwater lake, it has a history of over 50 million years. Today, the lake is an important salt production and trade center. It is also a popular tourist place. Visitors come to enjoy its unique beauty and even float in its salty water.
What’s interesting is that the Dead Sea isn’t actually a sea. It’s a lake with the salt concentration (含盐量) of more than 30 percent, which is much higher than typical seawater. The Dead Sea stays so salty because it gets very little rainfall every year. And the hot weather around the Dead Sea makes the fresh water evaporate (蒸发) quickly. As a result, almost no plants or animals can live there. That’s why it’s called the Dead Sea.
However, don’t let the name or not having any sea life scare you. Even if you fall into the Dead Sea and can’t swim, you won’t die. The high concentration of salt in the Dead Sea allows anyone to float well. In fact, many people visit the Dead Sea during the sunny months from April to October. However, July and August are less popular because they are the hottest months. If you walk along the shore, you will likely see many people floating in the water, reading books or magazines.

Ron Clark is the writer of The Essential 55, a book about teaching students the rules for life and study. Why did he decide to write the book How did he teach his students the rules Here are the answers.
Clark’s story started at his school in the US. When he first walked into his seventh grade class, he met lots of problems. For example, some students often arrived late. Some often played in class. Sometimes, they even slept in class. He wanted to help them, so Clark wrote down 55 rules for them. Soon the students learnt to be friendly to others and became better in both study and life.
Some rules from The Essential 55Rule 1: Don’t be late for school. Rule 2: Do your homework every night. Rule 3: Don’t bring your phone to school. Rule 4: Learn the names of teachers in the school and say hello to them.
Clark doesn’t think it’s hard to teach his students these rules. “I explain the rules one by one, and then we role-play to show how they work. The first week, we just practise. I will tell them when they break a rule. After that, they should remember and follow the rules strictly,” he said. Clark hopes when his students leave his classroom, these rules will still help them.
