I have been a staff writer for the school newspaper since my first day
here at the University of Alberta. I probably won't work as a journalist(记者)
after my graduation, but this doesn't mean my experience in student
journalism (报社) has been useless. In fact, I have picked up many important
skills through this job.
I still remember my first news story. It was about the victory of the
school baseball team. I attended the celebration and was told to do some
interviews. I was frightened. Talking to strangers was one of my fears. But I
gathered my courage and did it. I talked to the students, the players and the
team leader. It was something I had never dreamed of doing before. This
opportunity gave me confidence and helped me to improve my social skills.
In journalism, everything has to be based on facts. As a student
journalist, I have learned to do research and to think critically about what I
read. Discovering the facts is important when you are writing for the school
newspaper, but in the Information Age, this is also an increasingly useful skill
in everyday life.
As a student journalist, I always know that I have a lot to learn.I'm never
afraid of asking people for feedback(反馈).I have learned how not to take
negative feedback personally and how to use it to make improvements to
myself.
Journalism is a stressful field to work in, but I'm thankful that I have
had the opportunity to try my hand at it. It has taught me to be a better
storyteller, student and citizen. If you are ever given a chance to write for a
newspaper or magazine, take it and learn everything you can!

A. The opening of a new school building.
B.The victory of the school baseball team.

A. It has no influence on the author's future career.
B. It makes the author more confident and sociable.
C. It is too stressful for the author to continue.
( )31. What is the main idea of the paragraph 3
A.The importance of facts in journalism and daily life.
B. How to write an interesting news story.
C.The difficulties of being a student journalist.
( )32. What does the author think of the opportunity to write for a
newspaper or magazine
A. It is a waste of time and energy.
B. It is a valuable chance that should be seized.
C. It is only suitable for those who want to be journalists.

Have you ever asked somebody a question but they didn't reply because
they were looking at their phone or table(t 平板电脑) Or perhaps you've gone
online to play a game just for 10 minutes but when you check the time, hours
have passed. People are using technology more than ever, which is why the
charity Fairplay wants people to really think about how much time they spend
using digital devices(电子设备),such as a smartphone, tablet or computer. It
wants people to devote week to living screen-free. It says that this will help
people "to take the time we need to prioritize(优先考虑) our families and our
well-being”.
Many people spend too much time online. That can be bad for your health.
Studies have shown that it can affect sleep and reduce how long young people
are able to concentrate(集中精力).Even though technology is an important
part of people's lives, less time spent online means more time to live in the
real world. Whether it's playing sports or baking, painting or reading a book, a
day offline would help people focus on their hobbies. Hobbies can make people
feel more rested and relaxed.Having one screen-free day a week would bring
families together. Screens can distract(使分心)from quality time with loved
ones and can also cause arguments.A day without screens is a simple idea the
whole family can follow.
Moreover, people should be more aware of how often they're online and
how this makes them feel.Looking through on social media can make people
feel as if they're missing out, however, receiving a funny dog video from a
friend can make you feel instantly happy. Surely, it's better to take daily
breaks and turn screens off during mealtimes and an hour or two before bed.
( )33.What does the charity Fairplay want people to do
A.Use more technology.
B.Spend less time with families.
C.Have one screen-free day a week.
( )34. Why is spending too much time online bad for young people
A.It can make them feel more rested.
B.It can reduce their concentration time.
C. It can help them get better grades.
( )35. What does the author think about spending time online
A.People should spend as much time online as possible.
B.People should never go online.
C. People should be aware of the time they spend online.
( )36. Which of the following is the best title for the passage
