Balancing on those 1.5 mm wide blades and stepping onto the ice for the first time in years, feelings of excitement and fear filled me at the same time. I didn’t remember any of the 38 or spins that I had learned as a child. To make things worse, kids much younger than me were doing double or triple rotation jumps I felt so 39 of place.
Did I really belong here “You have as much right to be here as anyone else,” my Olympian coach encouraged me. I was very 40 that I had found a coach that treated me the same as her other students who competed internationally. Every day at practice, she 41 me beyond (超出) my limits.
During the course of learning new jumps and spins, falls are unavoidable. Whenever I learn a move, I commit to practising and falling for hours on end, and there would still be a large chance that I couldn’t finish it. Many times I’ve asked myself, “Was it really worth it So many hours of practice, and so much 42 spent on coaching and skates, for what ” 43 the course of learning is hard, every time I feel the wind rushing past my face on the ice, I am reminded of the reason that I started skating: this is the 44 thing I will get to flying.

“They’ll understand when they’re older,” Hearing this, as a parent, you may feel better. But the fact is that even when kids become adults, it doesn’t mean they’ll agree with your decisions.
Recently, I have had lots of conversations with my 19-year-old daughter about decisions I made in her childhood. She says she disagrees with some of them and some have even caused harm to her. That hurts. I think I must have failed as a parent.
It turns out that my daughter’s questioning is very normal. It happens to almost every teenager when they are in their late teens.
“In their late teens, teenagers start to find out who they are and what they stand for (代表),” says Mary Fleming, a college professor. “The search for identity (身份) is not always smooth.” The first task for teenagers is to dismantle the old life structure and to build a new one in its place. In other words, parents created that old life structure of childhood, so they are often at the heart of that dismantling process.
Hearing critical (批评的) words is hard. But if your teenager comes to you wanting to talk about it, pay attention to him or her. For both of you, it’s the beginning of understanding each other. And as they grow up, teenagers will realize they can’t live their lives over again, and neither can their parents. They will understand that their parents did the best they could with what they knew at the time.
49.Which of the following is TRUE according to the first paragraph
A.Kids may disagree with their parents when they grow up.
B.Adults should let kids make their own decisions.
C.Kids need to talk with their parents more often.
D.Parents often make right decisions for their kids.
50.How does the writer feel when hearing her daughter’s words at first
A.Confident. B.Surprised. C.Comfortable. D.Sad.
51.What does the underlined word “dismantle” probably mean in Paragraph 4
A.To learn something. B.To break something.
C.To organize something. D.To forget something.
52.What does the last paragraph mainly talk about
A.Why it’s difficult to hear critical words.
B.How to deal with teenagers’ critical words.
C.Why teenagers should talk with their parents.
D.How to let teenagers understand their parents.

Dear Victor,
I have received your loving letter from school and I am glad to know that you are becoming responsible (有责任的) enough to decide on your career.
You are now in the final year of high school and are going to start further education in college. You know that we belong to different times, and my social life is different from yours. However, all I can say as advice is that you must choose a career wisely. The first consideration is your interest. You can only succeed and feel happy when you do something you enjoy. You must get a job which not only provides you with something useful, but also you are pleased with. Then, you must read a lot in the field you are aiming at. Also, you should get to know the men and women who work in that field. When mind and heart work together, success is inevitable.
No career is more or less important. I think your interest may be in the field of making TV programmes. Your good communication skills, your taking an active part in school plays and the prizes you have won in speech competitions all lead you to that direction. So a career in Mass Communication and TV Film Production will bring luck to you. If you succeed in that field, you will become famous and rich.
Think a thousand times before making any final decision about your career. After all, we want you to be a man of success.
We all know that you are old enough to think for yourself. With all the best wishes!
Your loving father

What can you do to help yourself get out of stress or worry If you’re an artist, you keep making art. And if you have never considered yourself an artist, now is the time to take up an artistic hobby such as drawing or painting. It is never too late to start. Everyone can do it. If you can hold a brush or crayon, you can create art.
Creating art heals (治愈) not only the mind and spirit but also the body since all of these are connected. As you draw or paint, your breathing slows, your blood pressure lowers, and your mind lets go of daily problems. This slowing down allows you to fully experience the moment. The process not only relaxes you but also brings a feeling of joy, increasing your energy and enthusiasm for life.
Making art also allows you to play, freeing you to find out and try out new materials and methods. It also lets you express pleasure by seeing beauty where others may not. Creating art provides you a special chance to express your anger or upset as well as your personal ideas.
Although the process of making art is the most important part, your finished product is important too. Your painting or drawing will remind you of the lessons you learned while making it, and you may feel energetic just by looking at it.
If you don’t know how to begin, here are some ways to start creating art. If possible, set aside a small table with your brushes and watercolours so you can get creative whenever you get inspiration (灵感). Without thinking much about it, just choose colours that you like and start painting with them, or cut pictures with those colours out of magazines and glue them down, combining (结合) them with paints. The act of enjoying the colours and working on the colour combinations will give you something to focus on instead of the stresses of your daily life.
57.What can you learn about making art from Paragraphs 2 and 3
A.It is good for our health. B.It causes high blood pressure.
C.It’s like playing games. D.It helps us solve daily problems.
58.What does the underlined word “enthusiasm” mean in Paragraph 2
59.Which of the following is NOT true about how to start making art
A.You must be very careful while choosing colours.
B.You can begin painting whenever you get inspiration.
C.You can get brushes and watercolours for preparation.
D.You may use magazines to make colour combinations.
60.What’s the writer’s purpose of writing the passage
A.To tell us how to be an artist. B.To introduce the history of art.
C.To encourage us to make art. D.To teach us how to choose colours.

PEER PRESSURE
Peers are people who are about the same age as you. Peer pressure (压力) is when one or more friends or people your own age make you feel stressed to do something. You feel as if you have to do that thing because your peers are doing it,or are trying to make you do it.
Good peer pressure is when you feel pressured to do something good. You might do something good for you, for others, or for the environment. Bad peer pressure is when you feel pressured to do something you shouldn’t do. For example, it might be something that goes against rules, something dangerous, or something bad for your health. It might also be something that goes against your values, or what you believe is good or right.
If a friend tries to pressure you to do something, you might feel you should do it to please your friend. You might even feel that the person will not be your friend if you do not do it. People often want to be accepted by their peers and not feel as if they stand out because they are different in some way. Sometimes people are afraid others will make fun of them if they do not do what everyone else is doing.
Here are some questions to ask yourself when you feel peer pressure to do something:
· Could I get into trouble for doing this
· Might doing this hurt myself or another person, or hurt someone’s feelings
· Does this go against my values
· Will I feel sorry or embarrassed if my family, teachers, or others find out about it
If you answer “yes” to any of these questions, you are feeling bad peer pressure. If people keep pressuring you, say, “I do not want to talk about it anymore.” Then walk away and feel proud that you made a good decision.
Dealing with peer pressure
What Peer pressure comes when your friends or people of your age make you feel 71 to complete something you wouldn’t otherwise do. It can be both positive and negative.
Why You want to make your friends pleased so that you can be 72 by your friends. You are forced to do it though it is 73 your values or beliefs. You worry about being 74 at if you don’t stay in step with others.
How Ask yourself several questions when you 75 pressure from your peers to take action. You can be 76 that you are experiencing negative peer pressure if your answer is“yes”. If the pressure continues, 77 to talk about it and walk away proudly.
Your experience Share an example of how you solved your peer pressure. Situation:I once felt pressured when 78 Action: 79 . Result: 80 .

Once I lived in Taizhou, but I just moved to Nanjing with my parents. Now I am studying at a new middle school. I do not know the school very well, and I have no friends here. I do not know how to talk to new classmates. Sometimes, I am very nervous and cannot answer their questions. I feel really uncomfortable when they talk to me. During lunchtime, I always sit alone in the playground and read books. I hope they will not come and talk to me.
I miss my classmates from my old school very much. I do not know what I can do now. I hope you can give me some advice.

21.C
in在……方面;with带着;on在……上面。be strict with sb. in sth.
until直到;after在……之后;before在……之前;when当……
try it out尝试参与;try out for it参加选拔;try it out for为它尝试参与(语法错误);be tried out被选拔。

根据“After the big fire was put out...” 故选A。
27.D
