As teenagers, you have many dreams. These can be very big. Such as winning the Nobel Prize, or they can be small. You may just want to become one of the best students in your class.
Once you find a dream, what do you do with it Do you ever try to make your dream come true
Follow Your Heart by Australian writer Andrew Matthews tells us that making our dreams real is life’s biggest challenge.
You may think you are not very good at some school subjects, or it is impossible for you to become a writer. These kinds of thoughts stop you from realizing (实现) your dream, the book says.
In fact, everyone can make his dream come true. The first thing you must do is to remember what your dream is. Don’t let it leave your heart. Keep telling yourself what you want. Do this step by step, and your dream will come true faster because a big dream, in fact, comes from many small dreams.
You must also never give up your dream.
There will be difficulties on the way to your dreams. But the biggest difficulty comes from yourself. You need to decide what is the most important. Studying instead of watching TV will lead to better exam results, while saving five yuan instead of buying an ice cream means you can buy a new book. As you get closer to your dream, it may change a little. This is good as you have the chance to learn more skills and find new interests.

We all know that keeping healthy is very important. Here are some simple ways to help you stay in good health.
◆Eat healthily
Eating different kinds of food every day is necessary. It can help you get all the nutrients (营养物质) your body needs. 9 A good eating way is good for your health.
◆Exercise often
Exercise can help you keep a healthy weight and reduce (降低) the risk of having a disease. 10 If you don’t feel well, stop exercising at once.
◆Get enough sleep
11 Most grown-ups need 7-9 hours of sleep each night. For teenagers, they need 8-10 hours of sleep. If you don’t have enough sleep, you will feel sleepy all day. It is harmful to your health.
◆Manage stress (处理压力) well
Too much stress can be bad for your health. Find good ways to manage your stress. 12 Then you will feel better.
By following these simple suggestions, you can stay in good health and enjoy a happier life.
A.You can listen to music or talk with your friends.
B.Try to have more fruit and vegetables instead of junk food.
C.You had better spend at least 30 minutes in exercising every day.
D.Getting enough sleep is important for your whole health and well-being.
E.Let me tell you some of my favorites.
Are you a book-lover but feeling having not enough time to read Don’t worry. You can find out the solutions (解决方法) right here.
Firstly, don’t read before bed. Most people keep their reading on their nightstand. If you read at night, you will probably only get through a few pages before you get sleepy, Instead, I suggest reading before work. Even if you’re not an early bird, use the time you spend checking Wechat every morning to read some lines on the phone.
Secondly, make good use of the time when you’re on the way to work. For example, if you take the bus or underground to work, you can use this time to read. A half-hour commute (通勤) can easily turn into five hours of reading time every week—enough for most people to read a whole book.
Thirdly, ▲ . Before you tell me how much you “enjoy the smell of the printed books”, let me try to tell you the convenience (便利) of reading in the e-books app on your smart phone: you’ll always have your “books” with you, and most importantly, you can always get through a little reading in those lost minutes of the day—waiting in line for coffee, during business breaks and so on. Those pages add up fast.
What’s more, if a book makes you feel terrible, stop reading it. You don’t need to waste time reading a book that is not good. In fact, it’s more likely to make you quit your reading habit. Surely, you might think it’s necessary to finish a book which you spent five painful hours on. However, you can put it down.
13.In the passage, the writer suggests people read ________.
A.in the morning B.at noon C.in the afternoon D.in the evening

A.carry your books all the time B.paper books always come first

B.reading on the way to work is a good way to spend time
C.you had better get up as early as you can to spend time reading
D.reading in the e-books app on your smart phone is inconvenient
17.The writer wrote this passage to ________.
A.ask people to make a reading plan B.help people save time for reading
C.advise people to read more e-books D.show people the importance of reading
Some people think only school children do not agree with their parents, however, it is not true.
Communication is a problem for parents and children of all ages. If it’s hard for you to communicate with your parents, don’t worry about it. Here is some advice for you to bridge the generation gap (消除代沟).
Don’t argue (争辩) with your parents. Don’t go to your parents when you are angry. Your parents probably won’t consider your ideas if you are shouting at them. And you can’t express yourself well if you are angry. Go some place to cool off. Make sure you understand why you are unhappy. Then think about what you want to say to your parents. If you don’t think you can speak to them at the moment, try writing a letter.
Try to reach a compromise (和解). Perhaps you and your parents disagree on something. You can keep your disagreement and try your best to accept each other. Michael’s mother didn’t agree with him about buying a motorcycle. They argued over it. But they finally came to a compromise. Michael bought the motorcycle, but only drove it on certain days. Of course, your parents might refuse to compromise on something. In these situations, it is especially important to show love and respect (尊敬) to them. Showing respect will keep your relationship strong.
Talk about your values. The values of your parents are different from those of your own. Tell your parents what you care about, and why. Understanding your values might help them see your purposes in life.
A good relationship with your parents can make you a better and happier person. It is worth having a try!
18.According to the passage, who has a communication problem

A.argue with them B.keep away from them
C.agree with them all the time D.tell your parents what you care about
21.The best title for the passage is ________.
A.How to bridge the generation gap
B.How to deal with family problems

Teens will finally grow up some day, leaving their parents and facing life’s difficulties alone, so they should learn basic (基本的) life skills and develop good working habits.
The government (政府) has been trying to pay attention to (关注) the importance of hard-working spirit education (劳动教育). But it seems that people haven’t cared much about it in recent years. Many teens do not value (重视) the importance of working hard. There is a teenage girl named Nancy. She never helps out around the house. Once her mother was on vacation for a week, leaving her alone at home. When her mother came home from vacation, she could not find a clean dish or a clean shirt.
Schools play an important role in teaching students about the value of working hard. Primary and middle schools should provide students with courses on hard-working spirit every week. To our joy, some schools have provided each class with a small place outside to plant their favorite vegetables. For example, No. 38 Middle School in Hefei, set up a 500-square-meter farm on an open platform (露天平台) of their teaching building. Each class is asked to grow and pick vegetables there.
Parents should also encourage (鼓励) children to learn how to do chores at home. Teens should learn one or two life skills every year. These skills can include cooking, washing their own clothes and tidying their rooms. The basic skills may help teens to solve the problems they will meet in the future.

Whether you’re telling someone how to get to your house or guiding a stranger to a local museum, you should know how to give good directions. Giving directions, though, is harder than just telling someone how to get to a certain location. Let’s learn how to guide others better.
First, instead of directing a person from beginning to end, think of it as directing him from landmark (地标) to landmark. And mention important and hard-to-miss landmarks. These will give the person an idea of the progress he’s making and also let the person know if he’s still on the path you advised him to take.
If you can’t describe the route (路线) clearly in words, draw a map. A map allows the person to imagine where he’s going. You can also include details, such as the location of landmarks, on your map. Also, the map can give the person something to hold on to so he won’t forget your directions.
Although it might be convenient to give someone directions to your favorite shortcut (近路), it could do more harm than good. Instead, give the simplest directions. This will reduce the chance of the person getting lost. When considering the simplest route, choose ones with fewer turns, even if the person takes a bit longer, or pick routes where the person can stay on one road for a long time. Avoid suggesting routes you haven’t personally taken.
Finally, don’t rush when giving directions. Take time to explain important details, such as possible dangers. If you don’t speak slowly or clearly, the person may miss an important piece of information. At the same time, avoid using words, phrases, or names that only locals know. Any example you use should be recognizable to someone from outside your community.
87.John must mention ________ when using landmarks to guide others.
A.the color of each landmark B.the time of arrival at the place
C.the main landmarks along the way D.the distance between each landmark
88.What kind of route should you suggest according to paragraph 4
A.The simplest one. B.The shortest one.
C.The one you like best. D.The one with more turns.
89.Why shouldn’t you rush while providing directions
A.It’s not polite to do that. B.You should do the honors.
C.You need to explain every detail. D.That can lead to unclear directions.
90.Which of the following should not be used when you guide a stranger
A.Drive north on Renmin Road. B.Turn right after Joe’s old house.
C.Turn left at the first traffic light. D.Go straight until you see a McDonald’s.
