第四部分写作
第一节(满分15分)
Dear schoolmates,
As chairman of the Students'Union,I am calling on everyone to help protect our oceans. As we all know,
the ocean provides us with essential resources, but in recent years, marine life has been severely threatened by
pollution,and many species are disappearing.
There is no denying that ocean preservation is of utmost importance. Were we to neglect our responsibility,
not only would we lose invaluable biodiversity, but the health of our entire planet could be at risk. The oceans
provide us with abundant resources and play a critical role in regulating the global climate.Should we fail to
protect them, the consequences would be irreversible.
Therefore,I urge every one of you to contribute to this cause. If we all took small steps-such as reducing
plastic use and participating in beach clean-ups-we could make a significant difference. Moreover,I encourage
you to inspire those around you to join this effort.Let us work hand in hand to restore and protect our oceans.
Yours,
Li Hua

Eventually,Mr.Brown agreed. They started practicing the song together. As they sang,Mr.Brown's eyes

Martha Siede, who has lived with dystonic cerebral palsy (肌张力障碍型脑瘫) just since she was born, shares her powerful story in the book In Pursuit of“Normal”. As a disabled reader,I was delighted, relieved, and lit up with encouragement and connection while reading this book.
I especially apprec ated the way Martha lays out our struggles frankly because of how frequently we encounter them. “The hospital is where you would think disabilities would be comfortable and accepted,”she writes, “but it does not work. It is like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole.” Martha’ s experiences reflected my own frustration there: narrow doorways and crowded spaces that were difficult for me to navigate.
Throughout each stage of her life, Martha excels in fair, inclusive environments and struggles greatly otherwise. My preferred adaptation explored in this book is that of clothing companies who advertise by using photos in which models are seated so that wheelchair users can picture how it will look on their bodies.
Martha makes a clear, easy-to-follow distinction between when she gets the kind of support that makes her life more equal, and when she does not. Recounting these hardships never feels like a lecture or a reframing of history. Instead, Martha has written something that feels honest and strikes a balance between serious health concerns and conversations where she's direct about some tough topics. This tone is very true to my experience of living with depression and disability.
This book will guide not only disabled people but also their caregivers. A lot of valuable advice and life lessons can be learned from this book. Her candid account of struggles and achievements makes her story a source of inspiration for others, showing that anything is possible with a sense of humor and determination. It's not just a tale of survival; it's a testament(证明) to her strength and resolve.
24. Why does the author quote Martha's words in paragraph 2
A. To arouse readers' care for the disabled.
B. To reveal the poor service of the hospital.
C. To explain the cause of Martha's frustration.
D. To demonstrate one issue faced by the disabled.
25. What's the author's attitude towards using photos of seated models
A. Ambiguous. B. Dismissive. C. Favorable. D. Indifferent.
26. What does the author think of In Pursuit of“Normal”
A. It is boring but practical. B. It is classic and moving.
C. It is abstract but engaging. D. It is inspiring and influential.
27. What is the writing purpose of the text
A. To teach life lessons. B. To provide inspiration for writers.
C. To recommend a book. D. To emphasize the power of humor.
C
Scientists have uncovered communities of animals living in volcanic caves beneath the seafloor, revealing a previously unknown but thriving ecosystem. Previous research had found microbes(微生物)living underground near hydrothermal vents (热液喷口), but this is the first reported discovery of larger animals such as tubeworms and snails in the underground habitat.
Hydrothermal vents are cracks in the seafloor where hot water from the Earth's core mixes with seawater. Much of the ocean floor is considered nearly uninhabitable. But around hydrothermal vents there's an explosion of munities of shrimp, crabs, tubeworms and hundreds of unique animal species have been previously found, but not underneath, these vents. They' re known as“extremophiles,”or life that can survive under extremely high temperatures and pressure. These species survive not on the sun's energy, which fuels the food web elsewhere on Earth, but on nutrients produced when seawater mixes with magma.
Recent scientific research has revealed that tubeworms and sea snails can be found not only on top of the seafloor but also underneath rocky sections. This discovery has the potential to significantly advance our understanding of these species’ life cycle and behavior. The researchers think tubeworms might disperse throughout the caves, with some settling and growing in cracks on the seafloor and others staying in the caves and growing to adulthood there— which would mean the seafloor and small caves underneath are an interconnected ecosystem, where cold and warm water flows mix and promote tubeworm growth.
The hydrothermal vent ecosystem in this area is not restricted to what we see above but includes life in the subsurface. Deep-sea mining, which involves extracting(获取) minerals from the deep seabed, is a major threat to deep-sea ecosystems and is opposed by scientists and conservation organizations. “We don't know how extensive those connected little caves are, and we' re unable to assess the biodiversity within the subsurface. Since seafloor ecosystems are likely interconnected. Large stretches of the seafloor need to be protected.” says Rachel Lauer,a geologist at the University of Caigary.
28. What does the new study reveal
A. Volcanic activity is frequent in the deep sea.
B. Larger animals thrive beneath the ocean floor.
C. There is a community of microbes underground.
D. Hydrothermal vents shape the marine ecosystem.
29. What can we infer from the article about species living around hydrothermal vents
A. They feed on underwater plants.
B. They rely on sunlight for energy.
C. They can survive in extreme conditions.
D. They favor a relatively hot environment.
30. What does the underlined word“disperse” in paragraph 3 probably mean
A. Float. B. Evolve. C. Frustrate. D. Spread.
31. What is the purpose of the last paragraph
A. To call on people to protect seafloor ecosystems.
B. To stress the importance of conserving biodiversity.
C. To explain the link between volcanic caves and the seafloor.
D. To show the effect of deep-sea mining on life in the subsurface.
D
“Individuals of all ages who have empathy (共情) understand that sometimes telling little white lies can protect other people from getting hurt,” says Barbara Greenberg, a clinical psychologist inConnecticut. “Most people that I have come across tell these little white lies because they understand that100 percent honesty all the time is not beneficial.” A white lie, she explains, spares people from unnecessary hurt.
At the same time, Dr. Julia Breur, a marriage and family therapist in Florida, emphasizes the importance of paying attention to the way we respond to someone. The fact is that not telling the truth can result in something unpleasant on you; it's not just about the person the white lie is being told to. For example, she says someone who always tells others that“all is good” when it comes to a sick parent in an effort to avoid discussions about how serious their health issue really is, can eventually face stressful experiences. When that parent eventually passes away, the person who always gave an“all is good”response ends up emotionally broken.
Sometimes, telling white lies often depends on the situation, Dr. Breur says. For example, consider a woman who has not seen her mother for several months. The daughter has gained noticeable weight, yet the mother responds by excitedly declaring that she looks great. “I emphasize during psychotherapy sessions with my patients that context helps define meaning,” Dr. Breur says. “So when we look at the context of a mother saying you look great when she clearly sees that her daughter has gained weight, it can be acceptable. It reflects the intention of the white lie which is kindness, protection and unconditional love. Otherwise, white lies — especially when told to avoid personal accountability —— can start a cycle of mistrust between people, ultimately compromising integrity,” she adds.
Therefore, it's important to ask ourselves when it is and isn't appropriate to deliver the honest truth, and when it's best to step back and offer a more delicate response. More often than not, it's about finding a balance between the two.
32. What can be learned about white lies according to Barbara Greenberg
A. They are short-lived. B. They are unidentifiable.
C. They are trouble-making. D. They are common.
33. What message does Dr. Breur deliver in paragraph 2
A. White lies can harm both the liars and the listeners.
B. We must respond to our family members truthfully.
C It's wrong to tell white lies to a seriously ill parent.
D. The“all is good” response is effective in dealing with patients.
34. Which of the following white lies may Dr Breur support
A. A student claims his homework was left at home.
B. An employee blames traffic jam for being late.
C. A Dad tells his son their lost pet is living happily on a farm
D. A nurse says she has to work overtime so as to decline an invitation.
35. Which of the following is the best title for the text
A. East or West, White Lies Are the Best B. Think Twice Before Telling White Lies
C. White Lies Signify Unconditional Love D. Tell White Lies to Show Your Symphathy

阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
I am a child of traditional book reading. I used to go through one book continuously from beginning to end, taking notes or highlighting lines before going on to the next book. It was a slow but deeper way to absorb a book. 36 My struggle with Dostoevsky’ s The Brothers Karamazov early on is a good example.
After college, my job involved reading a lot of background materials for projects. Many nights Istayed awake till past midnight leafing through pages. 37 It helped me breeze through my reading requirements. However, for books I was genuinely passionate about, I switched to a slower pace, and still read one book at a time.
38 I no longer stick to one book, but jump between them, spending about half an hour on each. Currently, I'm reading six books in various stages, with more lined up to start soon. My speed reading skills help me scan quickly without losing comprehension. I can easily switch to slow reading mode whenever needed.
Recently, I learnt from a journal that my previous reading method is known as“Blocked Practice”,which involves studying one topic thoroughly before moving on to another. 39 However, it tends to restrict how you apply knowledge in new and varied situations.
On the other hand, the“mixing it up” approach, also referred to as“Interleaved Practice”, could produce dramatic, long-lasting learning benefits. By switching between topics, readers can make connections between ideas and skills. 40 Over time, readers could be more capable of solving problems critically. If this is true, then my evolution as a reader of books has been in the right direction all along.
A. It helps widen perspectives.
B. This method has its limitations.
C. That was when I took up speed reading.
D. I'm not great at trying out different reading styles.
E. That's why it took me months to finish heavy books.
F. Nowadays I' ve acquired the habit of multiple book reading.
G. This approach can be effective for mastering individual concepts.

The school had organized a volunteer activity to lend a hand at a local nursing home, aiming to bring some warmth and joy to the elderly residents. A group of Grade One students signed up for this meaningful event. Among them were Lucy and her classmate, David. Both of them were excited about the chance to contribute to the community and make a difference in the lives of others.
On the day of the activity, they arrived at the nursing home bright and early in the morning. The elderly residents greeted them with warm smiles and kind eyes. Lucy and David were assigned to take care of an elderly couple, Mr. and Mrs. Brown. The couple welcomed them into their cozy room, and they spent the whole morning engaged in lively conversations. Mr. Brown, in particular, was extremely talkative. He shared numerous interesting anecdotes(轶事) from his youth, like the time he participated in a thrilling sports event in his hometown and the unforgettable adventures he had while traveling. Lucy and David listened attentively, captivated by his stories.
After a delicious lunch prepared by the nursing home staff, the volunteers decided to organize a small but heartwarming performance for the residents. Lucy planned to sing some classic old-fashioned songs. David, who was good at playing the guitar, would accompany her. The other volunteers also got creative and prepared various performances, such as astonishing magic tricks and humorous short plays.
As they were busy setting up the small stage in the common area of the nursing home, they noticed that Mr. Brown seemed a bit down. His usually bright eyes were dimmed (暗淡), and he was sitting quietly in a corner. Concerned, Lucy and David walked over to him. Mr. Brown then revealed that he used to be a famous singer in his prime. He had performed on many stages, attracting audiences with his powerful voice. But now, due to his age and health issues, his voice had weakened, and he could no longer sing as well as he used to. Lucy and David felt a pang of sadness for him. They were determined to do something to lift his spirits.

第一节 倡议信
Dear schoolmates,
Marine pollution is getting worse: plastic waste chokes seas, and overfishing destroys habitats. Oceans are vital—they produce oxygen and shelter countless creatures.
To protect them, we can use fewer plastics and join beach clean-ups. Let’s also spread awareness of ocean protection.
Oceans need our care! Let’s take action now to guard our blue home.
Yours,

第二节 续写
Lucy decided to take the initiative and proposed a special plan for Mr. Brown. She said they planned to sing a classic song he once performed and invited him to lead the singing. David quickly agreed, adding he’d tweak the guitar accompaniment to fit his current voice. “Your emotion is what makes the song special, not just strength,” Lucy comforted. Hesitant at first, Mr. Brown softened when he saw their earnest faces. They practiced briefly, and his voice, though soft, carried warmth.
When the moment of the performance arrived, Mr. Brown stepped onto the stage with a combination of nerves and excitement. As the guitar started, he closed his eyes and began. His voice trembled at first, but soon steadied, filled with memories. The residents listened quietly, some nodding along. When he finished, the room burst into applause. Mr. Brown wiped his eyes, smiling. “Thank you for letting me sing again,” he said. Lucy and David knew they’d given him more than joy—they’d returned a piece of his past.
