No one knows what the weather is going to be like in the future, but many people think there are going to be some differences.
According to the scientists, one difference is that in many places it’s going to be much hotter and it’s going to rain less. Some countries in Africa are going to become very dry all year round, and people can hardly find food and water. In Southern Europe and the United States, it’s going to be less easy for plants to grow. People there are also going to have problems finding food in the future.
No one knows how much warmer it is going to be, but scientists say that the change is going to be at least 2℃. They say that the ice in the Arctic (北极) is going to melt in the next years and a lot of the animals there are going to die. There is also going to be more water in the sea, so cities near the sea are going to disappear.
Another difference is that there are going to be more hurricanes and typhoons (飓风和台风). Scientists say they are going to happen all over the world, and many people are going to lose their homes.

Terrible weather events are harming the planet, and experts say there might be even greater danger to come. The sea ice loss and the Arctic ice melting caused by climate change have increased much in the last ten years. Because of that, the number of polar bears (北极熊) and seals (海豹) has dropped greatly while polar bears depend on sea ice for hunting seals.
According to the data from the WMO (世界气象组织), temperatures on the Antarctica (南极洲) just reach 18.3℃, which is higher than the record of 17.59℃ in March, 2015. Moreover, temperatures in this area have warmed about 3℃ over the last 50 years. Although such temperatures might be considered pleasant for a picnic, this is the Antarctica we are talking about. It is home to the most inhospitable environment on the planet because it is supposed to be an extremely cold place. In fact, the average (平均的) temperature of the continent’s central area is -57℃.
Besides, ▲ . Australia is undergoing its worst drought (干旱) since the 1930s, leaving wildfires burning so long and causing many deaths. Meanwhile in Europe, crops in the northwest are suffering the driest weather in the past 80 years. Recently West Texas in America has also gone through its worst drought in more than 70 years, while there are floods in Eastern and Southern China.
“Climate change is bad for human beings. It causes direct health problems. I’m afraid there will be more common events like the one that 30,000 to 50,000 persons died in Europe in 2003 due to the heat wave there,” Professor Schwartz said. “It will also cause more air pollution, diseases and lack of clean water and so on.”

Where does the wind come from How does the wind form And what makes the wind move all the time
Scientists tell us that the sun is the main reason. When the sunlight shines (照耀) on the land and water, they get hot. Then the hot land and water make the air warm. The warm air is light (轻的), so it goes up. The cool air moves in to take the place of (取代) the warm air. Warm and cool air move from place to place and that makes winds. In a word, the movement of air is what we call wind.
When the wind changes speed, it often brings a change in the weather. When the air moves slowly, it makes light winds. But when the air moves very fast, it makes big winds. It can also tell us a lot about what the weather will be like. Air over the land is dry and that over the water is wet. Winds from the land or the water bring different kinds of weather. Some winds bring sunny or dry weather and others bring rainy or wet weather.

Have you ever wondered what causes rain What is rain made of The water leaves the ground and becomes water vapor (水蒸气) in the air. When the water vapor touches the cold air, it again becomes water and falls to the ground as rain.
It is similar to boiling water. If you boil water in a pot, the heat changes, so the water turns into hot water vapor. When you cover the pot with a piece of glass, the vapor hits the glass and becomes drops of water.
Water is everywhere in nature, and more than 70% of the Earth’s surface is covered by water. Water from lakes and oceans slowly evaporates (蒸发) because of the hot sun. The higher the temperature of the water is, the faster it evaporates.
The warm air has more water vapor than the cold air! When the wind blows, it carries the drops of water in the air and raises them. A lot of drops of water get together to form a cloud. When the cloud meets the cold air, the condensation (凝结) happens. And then the cloud becomes tiny drops of water and falls down. These tiny drops of water falling from the sky are what we call rain.
Rain is important for keeping the environment balanced. Without rain, plants would not be able to grow and animals would not be able to live. The water from rain can also wash away dirt in the air. What’s more, rain can cut down on the effects of weather changes!
80.Put the following information into the correct order according to Paragraph 1.
①Water becomes water vapor.
②Water falls on the ground as rain.
③Water vapor touches the cold air.
④Water vapor again becomes water.
A.①-②-③-④ B.①-③-④-② C.①-④-②-③

A. B. C.
82.What happens when a lot of drops of water get together

A.Because it causes weather changes.
B.Because it shows the height of the sea level.
C.Because it helps plants grow and animals live.
Do you know how weather affects our lives Well, it affects where we go, what we do, and what we wear. And it also affects how we feel and behave (表现). It is a big part of our lives!
We often use weather expressions to describe (描述) how we feel. For example, if we are feeling ill, we say we are “under the weather”. If we are feeling stressed and busy, we can say that we are “snowed under”. We use “bad” weather (rainy, stormy etc.) to describe a bad mood (心情), and “good” weather (sunny, warm, etc.) to describe a good mood.
And that is not all. The weather can even change the way we feel! For example, sunlight helps our body to produce vitamin D (维生素D). This vitamin can improve our mood. But some parts of the world get less sunlight in winter, so people can feel unusually sad then. However, when it is hot and sunny, some people may get angry easily too! Scientists are still studying how the weather changes the way people feel and behave.
These days, many of us spend less time outside than in the past. Getting no fresh air or sunlight and spending too much time inside can make us feel down. It is very important to go outside once in a while, whatever the weather, rain or shine!
