Sun protection is more than just avoiding sunburn—it’s about keeping your skin healthy and feeling good all summer long. Here are some ways to protect yourself.
Use sunscreen (防晒霜) properly
Apply sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher 20-30 minutes before going outside. Don’t forget to reapply every two hours, especially after swimming or sweating. Studies show that most people apply too little sunscreen, so using enough (about 1 teaspoon for the face) is key.
Wear the right clothes
Wear long sleeves, hats, and UV-protective sunglasses. Dark-colored clothes with tight weaves block more UV rays than light ones. A good pair of sunglasses not only protects your eyes but also prevents
fine lines around the eyes caused by squinting (眯眼).
Seek shade during peak hours
The sun is strongest from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Use natural shade from trees or create your own shade with umbrellas or tents.
Drink enough water
Drinking plenty of water is important for skin health and overall comfort. When you sweat, your body loses water and salt, so drink lots of water even if you’re not thirsty. You can also enjoy drinks like tea or fruit juice.
By following these steps, you’ll reduce the risk of skin damage. Then you can enjoy being outside without worry. Remember: healthy skin means feeling good!

check the new small trees and that I didn’t need to wait for him for dinner. But now, the wind was blowing hard and making a loud noise, like an animal. I stood at the door and called him, but he didn’t answer.
“I can’t wait any longer,” I thought. I took a flashlight from the corner and went out. The light showed me the way, but the shadows of the trees looked scary, like claws. I held the flashlight more tightly. I was worried that Dad might be lost or in trouble, so I walked into the forest slowly.

Roman art dating back thousands of years was recently uncovered in the ancient ruins of Pompeii, Italy. The city was destroyed by a volcanic eruption in the year 79, and much of it was preserved under thick layers of stone and ash. Archaeologists have been working to dig out the remains of Pompeii for
hundreds of years. UNESCO named it a World Heritage site and said it “provides a complete picture of an ancient Roman city.”
The recent discovery is the most important in many years. Experts unearthed a grand house, where the three letters- “ARV” were carved on the walls. This suggested that the home belonged to Aulus Rustius Verus, a wealthy Pompeii politician. The team found a large dining hall that was nearly undestroyed. It is about 50 feet long and 20 feet wide and has a mosaic floor made up of more than a
million white tiles (瓷砖). Its walls were painted black and decorated with frescoes, artwork made
using an old technique of painting with watercolors on wet plaster ( 灰泥). The frescoes describe
characters from Greek mythology and tell stories of heroism and fate. The hall would have been an elegant setting for entertaining guests, the archaeologists said. As people dined in the room, flickering candlelight would have made the figures seem to move.
“Pompeii is truly a treasure chest,” Italy’s culture minister, Gennaro Sangiuliano, said of the recent discovery. “Every time we dig, we find something beautiful and significant.”
