1. 食指和中指伸张开表示“胜利”之来历。
对高举右手或双手伸出张开食指和中指这一手势，中国人习惯是指数字“2”，英美则指“胜利”。因食指和中指伸张开构成V字形，表示Victory。这一姿势首创于第二次世界大战期间，同盟国用这一手势表示相互致敬、勉励和战胜法西斯的决心和信心。
2.含有全部26个字母的最短英文句子。
打字机行的工作人员在检查新打字机的英文字母字迹是否清晰时，常在打字机上打出下列的句子：The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.（那只敏捷的棕色狐狸纵身跃过那条懒狗。）为什么他要打出这样的句子？那是因为这个短短的句子包括从a到z的全部26个英文字母。半个世纪以来，打字机行一直沿用这个句子作为检查打字机字迹是否清晰的方法。据说，多年来曾有不少人费尽脑汁想编写出也含有a到z却比它更短的句子，但始终没有成功。
3.英语中很多表达法与颜色有关，但不能望文生义。
（1）黑色不黑。black sheep（败类）；black dog（沮丧）;black tea（红茶）；black coffee（未加糖或奶的浓咖啡）。
（2）白色不白。 white nights（不眠之夜）;white room（无菌室）;white lie（没有恶意的谎言）;white elephant（无用之物）。
（3）黄色不黄。yellow dog（懦夫）；yellow boy指“金币”而不是“黄色小孩子”。yellow book指法国等政府或议会发表的报告书，并非是“黄色书刊”。
（4）蓝色不蓝。blue moon（千载难逢之机）；blue blood指的是“贵族血统”。
（5）绿色不绿。green hand指的是“新手”。

我们学过的第一种陈述句型：主语+is/am/are+表语。其中，is/am/are充当的就是谓语成分。表语一般都是由形容词充当。

主语 谓语 表语 疑问句一般疑问句特殊疑问句一般疑问句的结构：谓语+主语+其他成分。也就是将陈述句的主谓语倒装.例如，
