High school began with meeting new friends, which was the most exciting part of that period. However, I noticed the difference with middle school right away since students around me were trying their best to get good grades. As for me, I saw these years as our last opportunity to spend time together as a group.
It was surprising for me to find out that my friends, including my best friend, were no longer willing to meet very often after school. This made me realize that perhaps I failed to realize the true meaning of these final years. I should state that it became especially clear after I talked to my best friend. He told me that he was really worried because I seemed to have no plan when it came to preparing for college. To be completely honest, he was right.
Luckily, my best friend was wise and able to explain his point of view to me. Also, he offered to spend time studying with me and getting me ready for the test to make sure I did not miss out on anything meaningful from the textbook. This was surprising for me since I was confident that activities like reading textbooks could not be enjoyable. I was wrong, and this challenge taught me that having fun in high school does not just mean going to parties or spending time in cafes. Instead, you can have an enjoyable experience that will also be good for your future.
I am glad that I was able to learn from this situation. After sometime had passed, I understood and was able to change my behavior and attitude toward studying in high school just in time. Now, I am studying harder to get more knowledge and try to understand which subjects I am most interested in to find out what I want to study in the future.

1.答案:D
解析:根据下文“Before you shake ... to use the left.”
3.答案:A
故选A。

Dear Li Lei,
I learned from your last letter that because your handwriting is not beautiful and tidy enough, your composition scores in many English tests are not ideal, which is your biggest trouble at present. I am writing to tell you that your problem is very common among students who are learning English and that there are quite a few ways to solve it.
First of all, you should practice handwriting according to a copybook and be patient at the beginning, which can make sure your handwriting is standard. In addition, turn to your English teacher for help, who must be glad to give you some guidance. What's the most, you should stick to your practice at least 20 minutes each day. And gradually, you can write beautiful letters in the limited time.
Looking forward to your good news.
Yours,
Li Hua

Monday September 1st Sunny
It's my first day at senior high. What happened today has left a deep impression on my mind.
My new school is much larger than my previous one, and every classroom is equipped with one computer. I got along well with my classmates who are all friendly and helpful. What's more, I was very impressed with my teachers' different teaching methods. At the first lesson, I felt nervous at first, but I soon felt relaxed after our teacher asked us to introduce ourselves to each other.
I like my new school very much. I think I can make great progress in this school.
Mark was an 8 year old boy living in Denver with his family. When 3 years old, Mark reached for the kettle on the table and upset it, causing his face burnt. After several surgeries, Mark was home schooled by his mother, but as he approached second grade, his parents decided to enroll him in Beecher Prep, a private school.
His face was uneven and many scars were left on the cheeks. Mark was scared of being made fun of, but his parents encouraged him to face everything bravely.
When he first started school, he was rejected by almost all the students for the sake of his burnt face, which was a tough time for him. Fortunately, a girl named Angel offered to sit with him on his first day of school and helped him go through that difficult period. They became good friends, chatting merrily and sharing what they were enthusiastic about.
Gradually, Mark's excellent learning competence and kind behavior made him popular with the students. Since Mark had a good command of science, his classmates would turn to him for help whenever they had problems with their studies. Mark was always more than willing to help them.
On Halloween, a variety of holiday activities were held on campus, with each classroom decorated with flowers and toys. All the students including Mark were dressed up in Grimace masks and costumes. They all disguised to be their favorite characters, enjoying themselves. Unrecognized, Mark was walking through the classroom backdoor when he overheard his classmate Joe's comment, “Mark's face is the ugliest one I have ever seen.” Hearing this, Mark felt a burst of sadness and depression flooded over him. He ran away secretly. Angel happened to stand behind Mark and witnessed what happened, but it was too late to stop it. As Mark's best friend at school, Angel thought Mark was a good boy who should be treated kindly.

(3)should/ought to have done
(4)needn't have done

A.The author's best friend worrying about him.

根据第二段中的“It was surprising ... very often after school.”
3.What lesson did the author learn from his experience according to Paragraph 3?
A.Being confident is helpful to get great grades.
B.Having a smart friend is important in school.

Ways to make a great first impression
You've heard it a million times already, but it really does take but a few seconds to make that all important first impression. Here are some easy ways for you to impress your classmates or teachers.

Introduce yourself and ask for names
Make sure you properly introduce yourself. Ask for their names in a polite way. __4__. This will increase the chances of their remembering your name in the future. Always remember to stand up when greeting someone and be sure to introduce them to anyone you're with.

After a second thought, Angel walked up to Joe. ﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍
