11.Here are some of our favourites, to remind us that some of the English we learn in the classroom is rather different from the English in the outside world!(教材P26)
以下是我们最喜欢的几篇,它们让我们意识到,有些在课堂上学到的英语和在课堂之外使用的英语真是太不一样了!
【分析】 本句是here 置于句首引起的完全倒装句。其正常语序为Some of our favourites are here;that引导宾语从句,作动词remind的宾语;we learn in the classroom是定语从句,修饰先行词some of the English。
(1)以副词here, there, out, in, up, down, away, then, now等开头,后面的动词是be, come, exist, fall, follow, go, lie, remain, seem, stand 等表示位移的不及物动词,且主语是名词时,句子进行完全倒装。 (2)there引出完全倒装句,除了最常见的there be句型以外,there还可以接appear, exist, lie, remain, seem to be, stand等,一般都译成“有”。 (3)为了保持句子平衡或上下文衔接紧密,表示地点的介词短语作表语或状语并置于句首,且主语是名词时,句子进行完全倒装。 (4)有时为了强调,可将谓语部分的现在分词、过去分词置于句首,句子进行完全倒装。

①Then came the hour we had been looking forward to.
我们期盼的时刻到了。
②There lies a temple near our cottage.

Ways to Improve Vocabulary in Just One Day
The average American has a vocabulary in the thousands. Try these tricks to make sure yours builds up.
Watch movies
“If you see the movie version of your favourite book you're likely to have a deeper understanding and knowledge of the words in it,” says Neuman, professor of Childhood and Literacy Education at New York University. “Seeing and reading something on the same topic is really important.”
Read magazines
If you want to improve vocabulary, don't just flip through your favourite magazine, really read it.
Listen to how words sound
Many people won't remember tricky words unless they come across them frequently. But if you hear a word that you think sounds interesting, you become word conscious (有意识的) and start using it yourself, says Neuman.
Join a book club
“Book clubs are a wonderful strategy to learn new words,” says Neuman. Not only will it force you to set aside time in your day to read, but it's also a good way to discover books you might not normally be drawn to.
Listen to the radio
Those types of programs can expose you to topics you may not be familiar with. Don't miss these middle school vocabulary words adults still don't know.
Pay attention to your surroundings
Next time walk down a busy street or take a walk in the park, try to describe what you're seeing as much as possible inside your head.
Read, read, read
Even if you don't stop to look up every single foreign word, chances are you can improve vocabulary simply by figuring out their meaning based on the context.

[精彩范文]
Last summer, I went abroad to the USA for a trip with my parents. On the first day my parents went to a restaurant and looked around for a toilet. However, they didn't find it. When they asked the waitress, she indicated a sign to the “restroom”. But my parents didn't want to rest. Then I asked for the “WC” but the girl said they didn't have one. We were confused. At last, she understood what we wanted; she laughed and we also laughed. From this experience, I made up my mind to study English harder.
 读后续写
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Karie double checked the words on her spelling test. If she got 100 percent today, she'd win her class' First Quarter Spelling Challenge and a brand new dictionary. Plus, Ms McCormack had promised to do a handstand if anyone got a perfect score.
Three more words to go. N i c e l y. Q u i c k l y. H o n e s t y. Wait! She'd spelled honesty, not honestly. She hurriedly erased the t y and wrote l y before handing in her paper.
Ms McCormack graded the test papers at the break. Meanwhile, Karie sat restlessly in her seat with her fingers crossed. Then, Ms McCormack walked to the front of the classroom and cleared her throat. As if she were an Olympic gymnast, Ms McCormack's feet flipped into the air.
“Congratulations, Karie! You did it!” she announced while upside down. The whole class burst into applause! Ms McCormack righted herself and presented Karie with her prize. Karie grinned as she read the label on the box: To Karie Carter, for her perfect first quarter score in spelling.
“Is everything OK?” Mom asked as Karie burst through the front door after school. Karie didn't answer. As if by magic, she took out her spelling test paper and prize and showed them to her mother. Mom hugged her, asking her to put the test paper on the fridge so that Dad could see it when he got home.
Karie took another look at the test paper before putting it on the fridge. Her hands stopped in the midair. She just couldn't believe her own eyes. Honesly?
YES! H O N E S L Y!
Mom sensed something unusual and asked why. Karie stuffed the test paper into her backpack and explained that she was just too excited. Mom brought her some tea. Yes, a “t” was exactly what she needed.
After drinking a little, Karie got lost in thought. How could she tell the class she hadn't earned the prize after all? That Ms McCormack did the handstand for nothing?
注意:
1.续写词数应为150个左右;
2.请按如下格式在相应位置作答。
Later Dad came in with excitement. The next morning, Karie went to school earlier than usual.

【分析】 本句是here 置于句首引起的完全倒装句。其正常语序为Some of our favourites are here;that引导宾语从句,作动词remind的宾语;we learn in the classroom是定语从句,修饰先行词some of the English。
(1)以副词here, there, out, in, up, down, away, then, now等开头,后面的动词是be, come, exist, fall, follow, go, lie, remain, seem, stand 等表示位移的不及物动词,且主语是名词时,句子进行完全倒装。
(2)there引出完全倒装句,除了最常见的there be句型以外,there还可以接appear, exist, lie, remain, seem to be, stand等,一般都译成“有”。
(3)为了保持句子平衡或上下文衔接紧密,表示地点的介词短语作表语或状语并置于句首,且主语是名词时,句子进行完全倒装。
(4)有时为了强调,可将谓语部分的现在分词、过去分词置于句首,句子进行完全倒装。

Last summer, I went abroad to the USA for a trip with my parents. On the first day my parents went to a restaurant and looked around for a toilet. However, they didn't find it. When they asked the waitress, she indicated a sign to the “restroom”. But my parents didn't want to rest. Then I asked for the “WC” but the girl said they didn't have one. We were confused.
注意:
1.续写词数应为150个左右;
2.请按如下格式在相应位置作答。
