【文章大意】 本文是一篇新闻报道。文章主要报道了用细胞培养的肉的发展和人们的看法。
1.D 推理判断题。根据第一段“Meat cultivated (培植) from cells—with no need to raise and kill animals—is now a reality. The process of cultivating meat uses the basic elements needed to build muscle and fat and enables the same biological process that happens inside an animal. Cultivated meat is identical to conventional meat at the cellular level. But can it be made cheaply enough to replace animal agriculture ”可知,作者在第一段提出问题是要发出一个关于培植肉是否能以足够低的成本取代畜牧业这个话题的讨论。故选D。
2.B 细节理解题。根据第二段“They are part of a young industry aiming to use cell biology to reduce the environmental impact of the world’s ever-increasing demand for meat and change global protein production the way electric cars are shaking up the auto industry.”可知,培植肉类行业的目标是提供可持续的蛋白质。故选B。
3.A 推理判断题。根据第四段“…there are a number of scientific challenges to meet before cultivated meat is widely available at the market.”可知,大规模生产培植肉的条件还未成熟。故选A。
4.D 推理判断题。根据最后一段“‘Until this meat costs and tastes the same as traditional meat, it will remain a specialized product,’ said Bruce Friedrich, president of the Good Food Institute.”可知,布鲁斯·弗里德里希对培植肉的未来持有保守的态度。故选D。

6.C 推理判断题。由第二段“However, it’s bulky, inconvenient, and requires multiple wires to be attached to the chest, making it uncomfortable for daily wear.”以及第三段“The Cardioskin T-shirt offers a more practical alternative. Made from cotton and washable up to 35 times, it has 15 small electrodes woven into the chest area to monitor heart signals continuously.”可知,作者在文中提到Holter监护仪的目的是展示Cardioskin T恤衫相比该装置的优点。故选C。
7.D 推理判断题。由倒数第二段“Powered by a removable battery, the electrodes feed data to a microchip, which wirelessly transmits the information to an app. The app converts the data into an easy-to-read chart, highlighting any irregular heart activity. The results are then shared with the patient’s doctor, allowing for remote monitoring without requiring hospital visits. This innovative design could make diagnosing AF easier and more accessible, potentially reducing the risk of stroke for many.”可推知,Cardioskin T恤衫使诊断过程及时、方便。故选D。
8.B 主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其由第一段“A new T-shirt that continuously monitors heart activity and detects abnormalities may help prevent strokes by identifying dangerous heart conditions like atrial fibrillation (AF).”

Meat cultivated (培植) from cells—with no need to raise and kill animals—is now a reality. The process of cultivating meat uses the basic elements needed to build muscle and fat and enables the same biological process that happens inside an animal. Cultivated meat is identical to conventional meat at the cellular level. But can it be made cheaply enough to replace animal agriculture
More than 150 start-ups are pursuing an ambitious goal: meat that doesn’t require raising and killing animals and that is affordable and tastes and feels like the meat we eat now. They are part of a young industry aiming to use cell biology to reduce the environmental impact of the world’s ever-increasing demand for meat and change global protein production the way electric cars are shaking up the auto industry.
“We are addicted to meat as a species. It’s part of our culture,” said Believer Meats founder Yaakov Nahmias. “But we thought about quantity rather than the environment, rather than sustainability.”
Although there are dozens of companies making this meat, none have yet reached commercial-level production in terms of scale or cost. From cell line development to bio-processor design, there are a number of scientific challenges to meet before cultivated meat is widely available at the market. Government policy is another challenge. Only Singapore and the US allow sales of cultivated meat.
And while many people who have tried it say they like it, others find the idea distasteful. A recent survey from The Associated Press-NORC Centre for Public Affairs Research found that half of US adults would be unlikely to try it. When they were asked why, about half said they didn’t think it would be safe. Even Nahmias’ 10-year-old son Oren said he would only eat traditional meat. “I feel bad for the animals,” he said, “but they are yummy!”
“Until this meat costs and tastes the same as traditional meat, it will remain a specialized product,” said Bruce Friedrich, president of the Good Food Institute.

A new T-shirt that continuously monitors heart activity and detects abnormalities may help prevent strokes by identifying dangerous heart conditions like atrial fibrillation (AF). This irregular heart rhythm increases the risk of stroke and affects over a million people in Britain, with an estimated 500,000 more remaining undiagnosed due to a lack of noticeable symptoms. While some individuals experience signs like chest pains, dizziness, or fatigue, many only discover the condition after suffering a stroke.
Detecting AF typically involves an electrocardiogram (ECG), performed in a hospital where trained staff attach up to 24 electrodes to different parts of the body. However, since AF often occurs intermittently (间歇地), a short hospital check-up may not detect it. To counter this, doctors sometimes provide patients with a Holter monitor, a device worn under clothing that records heart activity. However, it’s bulky, inconvenient, and requires multiple wires to be attached to the chest, making it uncomfortable for daily wear.
The Cardioskin T-shirt offers a more practical alternative. Made from cotton and washable up to 35 times, it has 15 small electrodes woven into the chest area to monitor heart signals continuously. The T-shirt can be worn 24 hours a day, increasing the likelihood of detecting abnormal rhythms. Powered by a removable battery, the electrodes feed data to a microchip, which wirelessly transmits the information to an app. The app converts the data into an easy-to-read chart, highlighting any irregular heart activity. The results are then shared with the patient’s doctor, allowing for remote monitoring without requiring hospital visits. This innovative design could make diagnosing AF easier and more accessible, potentially reducing the risk of stroke for many.
Professor Martin Cowie, a cardiologist at Imperial College London, views Cardioskin as a significant development in heart health monitoring, offering a comfortable and efficient tool for early detection of cardiac problems.
( )5.What is the main idea of Paragraph 2
A.The difficulty in detecting atrial fibrillation.
B.The benefit of wearing a Holter monitor.
C.The process of recording heart activity.
D.The future of developing a new ECG.
( )6.Why did the author mention a Holter monitor in the text
A.To introduce a way to check the patient’s heart.
B.To explain why doctors like using the device.
C.To show the advantage of a Cardioskin T-shirt over it.
D.To encourage people to care about their health.
( )7.What can we learn about the Cardioskin T-shirt
A.It has electrodes placed all over the T-shirt.
B.It can be worn a month without being washed.
C.It has a battery that can be charged easily and quickly.
D.It can make the process of diagnosis timely and convenient.
( )8.What could be the best title for the passage
A.The new ECG: an important development for doctors
B.The hi-tech T-shirt: a good helper for detecting strokes
C.The Holter monitor: a device tracking patients’ heart problems
D.The Cardioskin T-shirt: a shirt keeping patients from diseases

Google is adding new AI-powered search features to Google Search and in Google Search Labs, in addition to rolling out AI Overviews to searchers this week. 1.
Coming to Search Labs is the ability to adjust the AI Overviews to simplify the language or break it down in more detail. If you click on “Simpler”, you will be given a more basic AI Overviews response. 2. This functionality refines search results without requiring multiple searches in the same search session.
Google Search can now provide multistep reasoning using Gemini step-by-step reasoning logic. You needn’t break your question into multiple searches. 3. The example provided by Google below demonstrates how multistep reasoning works. You’re searching for a new yoga studio. You can ask Google Search to “find the best yoga studios in Boston and show details on their introduction offers and walking time from Beacon Hill”.
The planning capabilities feature gives you the ability to plan what you need directly in Google Search. This will give you choices and the ability to co-create plans with others. You can export the results, and replace specific plan details with another option within the various plan set. For example, you can search for “create a 3-day meal plan for a group that’s easy to prepare”. 4. You can switch out parts of the plan as you wish, and then export them to Google Docs or Gmail.
5. This will help you brainstorm options for your question. You will be given search results categorized under unique, AI-generated headlines. This functionality will roll out for dining and recipes, followed by movies, music, books, hotels, shopping and more later this year.
A.You will obtain links to recipes across the Web.
B.Google responds based on the questions asked.
C.You can ask your most complex questions in one go.
D.The new capabilities provide users with many useful functions.
E.Google Search uses AI to group search results into specific categories.
F.Clicking on “Break it down” will provide a much more detailed response.
G.You’ll get a starting point with a wide range of recipes from across the Web.

More than 150 start-ups are pursuing an ambitious goal:
meat that doesn't require raising and killing animals and that is
affordable and tastes and feels like the meat we eat now. They
are part of a young industry aiming to use cell biology to
reduce the environmental impact of the world's ever-increasing
demand for meat and change global protein production the way
electric cars are shaking up the auto industry.

Although there are dozens of companies making this meat,

Government policy is another challenge. Only Singapore and the
US allow sales of cultivated meat.
And while many people who have tried it say they like it,
others find the idea distasteful. A recent survey from The
Associated Press-NORC Centre for Public Affairs Research found
that half of US adults would be unlikely to try it. When they
were asked why, about half said they didn't think it would be
safe. Even Nahmias' 10-year-old son Oren said he would only

A new T-shirt that continuously monitors heart activity and
detects abnormalities may help prevent strokes by identifying
dangerous heart conditions like atrial fibrillation (AF). This
irregular heart rhythm increases the risk of stroke and affects
over a million people in Britain, with an estimated 500,000 more
remaining undiagnosed due to a lack of noticeable symptoms.
While some individuals experience signs like chest pains,

dizziness, or fatigue, many only discover the condition after
suffering a stroke.
Detecting AF typically involves an electrocardiogram (ECG),
performed in a hospital where trained staff attach up to 24
electrodes to different parts of the body. However, since AF
often occurs intermittently (间歇地), a short hospital check-up
may not detect it. To counter this, doctors sometimes provide
patients with a Holter monitor, a device worn under clothing
that records heart activity. However, it's bulky, inconvenient, and

requires multiple wires to be attached to the chest, making it
uncomfortable for daily wear.
The Cardioskin T-shirt offers a more practical alternative.
Made from cotton and washable up to 35 times, it has 15 small
electrodes woven into the chest area to monitor heart signals
continuously. The T-shirt can be worn 24 hours a day,
increasing the likelihood of detecting abnormal rhythms.
Powered by a removable battery, the electrodes feed data to a
microchip, which wirelessly transmits the information to an app.

The app converts the data into an easy-to-read chart,
highlighting any irregular heart activity. The results are then
shared with the patient's doctor, allowing for remote monitoring
without requiring hospital visits. This innovative design could
make diagnosing AF easier and more accessible, potentially
reducing the risk of stroke for many.
Professor Martin Cowie, a cardiologist at Imperial College
London, views Cardioskin as a significant development in heart
health monitoring, offering a comfortable and efficient tool for
early detection of cardiac problems.
