What you would do if you could time travel
If I could time travel, I could see the results of my actions or other people’s actions, and if the results were bad, I could travel back to the present time, too, and then take another course of action that had a better outcome. But I must learn not to depend on time travel and “cheat” every time when I failed or met something bad. I will choose the most important moment to return and not to change others’ fates without consideration.

Discuss the passage
The Time Machine was written in 1895 by famous science fiction writer H.G. Wells. Read an extract from this story and find out how many times the Time Traveler started the machine.
The Time Traveller started the machine twice.

I pushed the starting lever on the main panel forwards an inch then immediately backwards again.

I discovered a time machine by chance, which was shaped like a boat. The machine worked in a magical way by reading my mind and then took me to the time and place I thought of.
One day, it occurred to me that I wanted to know about my future, and in no time I was sent to 2030, when I became a doctor. There, I successfully developed medicines to cure various cancers, helping people to live a happy life. Besides, I was awarded the Nobel Prize due to my contribution to medical research.
I was excited at this wonderful experience which inspired me to try my best to realize my dreams.
