We take selfies (自拍) when we try on a new hat, play with our pets or when we meet a friend whom we haven't seen in a while. But does this crazy actually make sense? Is there any scientific explanation for it?
Well, you should probably ask James Kilner,a neuroscientist (神经科学家) at University College London.Through our lifetime,we become experts at reading and telling other people's faces and facial expressions. However, according to Kilner,we have a very poor understanding of our own faces since we have little experience of looking at them—we just feel them most of the time.
This has been proved in some studies in which people were shown photos of themselves and asked to match their facial expressions in the pictures. In most cases, they failed to correctly produce the same facial expressions without being able to see themselves in the mirror, according to BBC.
To further test how we actually sense our own faces,Kilner carried out another study. He showed people two kinds of their own pictures—one had been edited (编辑) to look less beautiful and the one was made more beautiful—and asked them to pick the version which they thought looked most like them.Kilner found that most people chose the more beautiful picture. This suggests that we usually think of ourselves as better-looking than we actually are.
But what does it say about selfies?Well, isn't that clear?Selfies give us the power to create a photo—by taking it from different angles (角度),with different poses, using filters (滤镜) and so on—that better matches our expectations with our actual faces.
"You suddenly have control in a way that you don't have in the real world." Kilner told the Canada-based CTA News. "Selfies allow you to keep taking pictures until you manage to take one you're happy with",he explained.
19.How does the writer lead in the topic "selfie" in Paragraph 1? ______
A. By asking questions. B. By comparing facts.
C. By giving examples.
20.We can learn from Paragraph 2 and Paragraph 3 that people are ______ .
A. proud of the photos of their own

C. good at understanding others by their faces

A. helps people to improve their skills of taking photos
B. meets people's needs to know their own faces better
C. makes people possible to reach their expectation
22.Which might be the best title of the passage? ______
A. What Is the Selfies B. Why Do You Take Selfies

The survey was done among 1,000 British kids from 12 to 16.It found that 50% of them got just 4 to 7 hours' sleep every day.But doctors say they need 8 to 9 hours.
Almost 25% of the kids said they often fell asleep while they were watching TV,listening to music or using other electronic products.

The story of Chinese fashion began in 2011 when Feiyue and Huili, both Chinese sports shoe brands (品牌),suddenly got international attention.Their products were seen all over the world.Chinese sportswear brand Li Ning was at the New York Fashion Week in September,2018.They showed their new designs—sweaters and jackets with Chinese characters.
Shaun Rein, managing director of China Market Research Group, said that the latest Chinese brands no longer catch customers' eye by low price. He told CNN, "They are sure that they can go head to head with foreign brands."
Maybe it is because China's young people are now more confident about their own culture. They don't show immediate interest in Western culture any more.
"Today's young people in China are crazy about Chinese cultural elements (元素)," Jin Qu,the manager of a clothing shopping website, said at a cultural festival in 2018. " They like these elements printed on their clothes, even the brand picture of Laoganma in China, which was once seen as outside of fashion. But now young people are proud of these Chinese symbols."
In fact, many stars in the West are now interested in Chinese cultural elements in fashion.Rihanna,a US singer, for example, wore a Chinese red dress to the 2015 Met Gala in New York. The dress was designed and made by Chinese designer Guo Pei.
"We have to move from making to creating," Chinese-American designer Aric Chen once told The New York Times. "We want to replace the words 'Made in China' with 'Designed in China'."

Travel in a green way. Now,more Chinese people have cars of their own.It has brought us a lot of benefits but has created some serious problems as well.So we'd better do more walking, cycling and less driving.By doing so,we can save energy and reduce pollution.
Cut down white pollution. We should reduce the pollution of plastic bags. When you go to the supermarket, bring your own shopping bags.
Save water.Lack (缺乏) of water resources will affect the ecological (生态的) environment. So please turn off the tap after using it.
Classify (分类) the rubbish.Doing rubbish classification in a right way can turn waste into wealth.
Use both sides of the paper. The paper production process uses a lot of trees.

Laws are rules too,but they are made differently.Laws are made by elected representatives (代表).Voters (选民) allow their representatives to make laws that can protect people's rights, safety and make sure everyone can be treated fairly.Laws cannot be changed often,so representatives consider laws carefully before making new ones.
The biggest difference between rules and laws is the punishment (处罚) for breaking them.If you break a rule, your punishment might be small, like losing a turn in a game. However,if a person breaks an important law,the punishment might be a fine (罚款) or time in prison.
