一.词性转换
1.crime [kra m] n.犯罪活动;不法行为→criminal n.罪犯
Stealing is a crime. The police caught the criminal.偷窃是犯罪行为。警察抓住了罪犯。
2.predict [pr d kt] vt.预测;预言;预料→prediction n.预测;预言
I can predict the weather. My prediction is it will rain tomorrow.
我能预测天气。我的预测是明天下雨。
3.occupation [ kju pe n] n.职业;占领→occupy vt.占用;占领;占据
→occupied adj.忙于……的,从事……的
Teaching is my occupation. Work occupies most of my time. I am occupied with teaching.

二.重点短语
1.combine...with/and... 把……与……结合起来
We should combine theory with practice.我们应当将理论与实践相结合。
2.oppose doing sth. 反对做某事
Many residents oppose building a new factory here.许多居民反对在这里建新工厂。
3.be opposed to (doing) sth. 反对(做)某事
She is strongly opposed to the plan.她强烈反对这个计划。
4.in one's absence 某人不在的时候

14.as引导原因状语从句,意为“由于、因为”

19.the way+定从(way在从句中作主语或宾语) 用that或which均可,作宾语可省略;

20.the way+定从 (way在从句中作状语) 用that或in which均可,现代英语倾向于省略。
