⑤ 当强调until…结构时，必须将
not until连用,后面接肯定式。
The teacher didn’t stop his lesson until the bell rang. (改成强调句）
It was not until the bell rang that the teacher stopped his lesson.
直到他父亲来了男孩才开始做作业。
It was not until his father came that the boy began to do his homework.
把“It is/was --- that”去掉，如果剩余部分句子结构仍然完整，那么这个句子就是强调句；如果句子不完整，则不是强调句。如：
It is true that he once went to America.
It was at 8 o’clock that he came back.

1. 倒装
1.1 两种类型的倒装
（1）全部倒装：指整个谓语放在主语之前。例如：
Here comes the bus.
公共汽车来了。
The door opened and in came the teacher.
门开了，进来的是老师。
（2）部分倒装：指谓语中一部分（如助动词、情态动词或系动词）放在主语之前。例如：
Not until yesterday did I receive her letter.
直到昨天我才收到她的信。
Not only should we not be afraid of difficulties, but we should try our best to overcome them.
我们不仅不应该害怕困难，而且应该尽力去克服困难。
当Not until位于句首时,句子要倒装。其结构为:Not until+表时间的词或句子+助动词/系动词+(主句)主语+谓语+...。如:
① The students didn’t stop talking until the teacher came in.
直到老师进来学生们才停止讲话。
Not until the teacher came in did the students stop talking.
② The sports meeting won’t be held until next week.
直到下周才开运动会。
Not until next week will the sports meeting be held.
1.2 以not until开头的部分倒装
1. Not until John apologizes ______ out with him again.

3. 把下面的句子变为倒装句：
They did not meet until after the war.

1.2 以not until开头的部分倒装
当Not until位于句首时,句子要倒装。其结构为:Not until+从句/表时间的词+助动词/系动词+(主句)主语+谓语+...。如:
① He didn’t come until we finished our work
Not until we finished our work did he come.
② He hadn’t returned until midnight.
Not until midnight had he returned.

将下列句子改为Not until 开头的倒装句
not only放句首连接两个分句（同一主语）时，not only后的句子要用部分倒装，但but also后的分句不用倒装。如：
① He not only come, but he saw her.
他不仅来了，而且还见到了她。
Not only did he come, but he saw her.
1.3 以Not only开头的部分倒装
【结构】Not only + 助动词(do/did/does) +主语+谓语动词的原形(+其它成分), but+分句(正常语序)
not only放句首连接两个分句（同一主语）时，not only后的句子要用部分倒装，但but also后的分句不用倒装。如：
② He is not only a teacher, but he is also a poet .
他不仅是一位教师，而且是一位诗人。
Not only is he a teacher, but he is also a poet.
1.3 以Not only开头的部分倒装
【结构】Not only + be动词 (is/was/are/were) +主语+谓语动词的原形(+其它成分), but+分句(正常语序)
① She not only speak Spanish, (but) she also knows how to type. 她不但会说西班牙语，还会打字。
Not only does she speak Spanish, (but) she also knows how to type.
② Shakespeare was not only a poet, but he also was a writer. 莎士比亚不但是一位诗人，还是一位作家。
Not only was Shakespeare a poet, but he also was a writer.
1.3 以not only开头的部分倒装

① Not only the bathroom was flooded, but also the rest of the house.

1.3 以not only开头的部分倒装
