①Do you like blueberries If so, the next time you’re about to eat these delicious berries, take a good look at them. ____
②For the most part, blueberries aren’t blue. If you carefully take off the skin of one blueberry, you’ll see that the fruit inside is white. If you rub (摩擦) the inside of the skin on a white piece of paper, you’ll see a reddish-purple color. And if you gently rub the outside of a blueberry, the blue color disappears and the berry looks almost black. But the moment you pick one, it does look blue. What’s going on ____
③Well, there are two ways to create colors. The first is through pigments (色素). Pigments show the color of the light they don’t take in. The most common pigment in plants is chlorophyll (叶绿素), a green pigment. Plant leaves appear green because chlorophyll doesn’t take in green light. It sends it out instead while taking in blue and red light. Plants prefer to take in blue light because it has more energy than any other light. In fact, there aren’t any “true blue” pigments in the plant world. ____
④The second way to make color is through “structural color (结构光)”. This happens when the surface makes some colors of light look different. Have you ever seen the rainbow colors on a CD These colors show up because of the tiny spaces between the CD’s thin layers (层). These spaces only allow certain colors to reach our eyes. ____
⑤Blueberries also create “structural color” in their own way. The berries look black when they’re ripe (成熟的), but the plants build a thin layer of wax (蜡) on their outside. This layer is only 0.4% of a centimeter thick, but it gives the berries their blue look. The blue color helps the plants because birds are attracted to the rare color. They eat the berries and spread the seeds (种子) far and wide.
⑥Now your bowl of blueberries suddenly looks a lot more interesting. The fruit is beautiful, but its beauty is only skin deep!
1. According to the article, after you gently rub the outside of a blueberry, it almost looks ____ .

C. D.
3. Blueberries appear blue in the same way that ____ .
A. a CD appears colorful B. a tree leaf appears green

4. The sentence “Then ask yourself: Are blueberries really blue ” should be put ____ .
A. at the end of Paragraph 1 B. at the end of Paragraph 2
C. at the end of Paragraph 3 D. at the end of Paragraph 4

Do you still hug your parents How do you feel when you hug them When do you need a hug the most
It was a cold November morning several years ago. My alarm clock had just gone off, but I was having trouble getting out of bed. My dad had died a few weeks before. I felt weighed down by sadness and depression.
Tough and strong, my dad had worked so hard all of his life to support us. He would sometimes shout at my brothers and me, but I always knew that he loved me. Still, he had been raised in a traditional way and raised us that way too. I couldn’t remember, for example, ever being hugged by him.
After my mom and grandma passed away, my dad moved into grandma’s home. I was so happy to have him close by. I would often visit him and just talk with him about life. But we still seldom touched and never hugged. Finally his own health began to rapidly fail and within a few months he left us. It was a cold morning when we had his service (追悼会), but I was too cold inside myself to feel it. I couldn’t remember when we’d had our last hug.
I sighed (叹气) and got out of my bed. I turned on the lights and walked into the hallway. I saw my son Jim walking down the hall to meet me. Suddenly, he opened his arms and gave me a heart-felt hug. And just as he did, I heard my dad’s voice deep inside of me say, “Joey, this hug is from me!” I cried and smiled at the same time. In that moment, in the place where heart, mind, and spirit all meet, I felt loved. I felt loved by my dad. I felt loved by life.

B. parents should set good examples for children
C. love needs to be expressed
D. family members need to understand each other
5. What’s the best title for the passage

How do you go to school every day Recently a survey showed that only about 20% of the middle school students in Suzhou ride to school. In fact, a bicycle is not only a tool but also a weapon (武器) to fight against climate change.
The United Nations General Assembly made a decision in 2022 to support bicycles as a tool for dealing with climate change. It calls on member states to use more bicycles. Many bicycle and environmental protection groups have supported the decision. “It is an important step toward the concept of cycling as an important mode of transport,” said the European Cyclists’ Federation.
After the decision was made, many countries have done a lot to increase the use of bicycles. In May 2023, bike sales in Spain increased 22-fold (22倍) compared with 2022. That means more and more people in Spain choose bikes as their travelling tools. In London, large parts of the city are being closed off to cars so that people can walk and cycle safely. And China has some of the largest bike-sharing systems in the world, with more than 360 cities and nearly 20 million bicycles for about 47 million trips each day. It could surely be seen as a mark of China’s bike-sharing success.
All in all, cycling is an environmentally friendly way to get around. Cycling instead of driving a car just once a day can reduce a person’s carbon emissions (排放) from transport. If more people choose cycling, the world will be a greener one.

He knew all about Robin Hood’s feasts. “I am Sir Richard Lea,” he said, “but I have no money to give you for your feast.” Robin asked, “You are a knight, and knights are rich men.”
Sir Richard sighed, “My son killed another knight by accident and I had to pay a huge fine. To get the money, I had to borrow from the Priory of Emmet. Now I must return that money to the Priory or lose my land and my castle.” Robin felt sorry for the knight. “Come with me and perhaps I can help you.” he said. Sir Richard agreed and followed Robin back to Sherwood Forest.
When they arrived at the camp, Robin told him to enjoy himself. Then Robin asked Little John. “Did you find a rich guest ” Little John laughed. “Yes, I did.” John brought forward his guest and Robin recognized (认出) him at once. “It was The Bishop of Hereford!” Robin said. “We meet again. Robin said, “Many people say you are the richest bishop in England.” Robin started to count the coins and said, “I think you have plenty of money and you want to help Sir Richard.”
When there were five hundred gold coins in Robin’s hands, he gave them to Sir Richard. “Take this,” he said “and pay your fine.”
Soon, Sir Richard left with the five hundred gold coins. He thanked Robin Hood and said, “One day, I hope I can repay your great favour.”
After that, Robin freed the bishop. The bishop left the camp quietly without all his money but when he was far away and no one could hear him, he said, “One day, I am going to make Robin Hood very, very sorry for stealing all my money. Wait and see.”

In 1876, Alexander Graham Bell made a great invention — the telephone. For the first time in history, people could talk to someone far away just like they were in the same room. But today, phones can do much more than just making calls!
The story of mobile phones began with two-way radios. These early devices (设备) had a big problem — they only worked when people were close to each other. In the 1940s, smart scientists found a way. They built tall radio towers across the country to pass signals (信号) easily.
Everything changed in 1973 when Dr. Martin Cooper made the first real mobile phone call. During the 1980s, mobile phones became smaller but were still very expensive. Only rich business people could afford them, and the phones looked like big plastic bricks.
The 1990s brought another big change. Phones became cheaper and smaller, fitting easily in pockets. Soon, almost every one had one. Text messaging became popular. People started writing short messages instead of making phone calls. Meeting time became more flexible (灵活的) because you could just text “I’ll be 15 minutes late.”
Now we have smartphones — like powerful mini-computers in our pockets. We use them to take photos, watch videos, play games, and even help with housework! Messaging apps let us send videos and long messages easily. While phones help us stay connected, some people worry we spend too much time on them.
Looking back, it’s amazing how phones have changed. From Bell’s simple telephone to today’s smartphones, this has truly changed our lives. What will phones be able to do next Only time will tell!

1. What did the United Nations General Assembly call on member states to do in 2022

“Wake up, everybody,” Robin shouted. “It is time for us to find another rich guest to pay for our feast (盛宴). ” Little John woke up slowly.
“You go west, and I go east. We try to find the richest man and bring him here!”
Robin walked for miles and saw many people but none of them were rich. But when he was eating, he saw a knight (骑士).
Robin said hello to him. The knight stopped but said nothing. His face was full of sadness.
“You need a good feast to cheer you up!” said Robin. “I have no reason to be happy,” said the knight. “My name is Robin Hood. Who are you ” For a moment the knight’s eyes grew wide.
Welcome to our feast.” The bishop was furious (愤怒的), but he didn’t say anything. He was too afraid of Robin.
Just then Robin saw there was a box tightly held in his hands.
Robin shot the box with his sword. The box hit the ground and thousands of gold coins fell out of it, Sir Richard came forward and Robin pointed to him. “Do you know this man ” Robin asked the bishop. “Yes,” replied the bishop. “Does he owe you money ” “He owes money to the Priory of Emmet and I am the bishop for the Priory.”
