Stephanie had just finished her second day of classes, filled with excitement. Eager to enjoy the warm afternoon, she decided to take her bicycle out for a ride. As she sped down a familiar path, she hit a deep pothole she hadn’t noticed. Suddenly, she lost control and crashed. In a horrifying moment, she realized that one of the bike’s handle grips (车把) was missing, which left a sharp, exposed metal pipe that pierced her right leg, severed her artery (动脉), and flooded her body with intense pain.
Panic set in as she lay on the ground, her mind racing. A severed artery can cause rapid blood loss, leading to passing out and death within minutes. Stephanie felt herself getting weaker, believing she wouldn’t survive.
But in the midst of her anxiety, help was on the way. Kupris, who had been working on a woodworking project nearby, heard the chaos, dropped his tools, and rushed outside. His heart raced as he dashed along a block, driven by a desperate desire to assist. Following a trail of blood that painted a distinct contrast against the pavement, he felt a surge of fear and concern. When he finally reached the scene, the sight that came into view was terribly horrible. There lay Stephanie on the ground, her face pale and her body twisted in pain, severely injured.
“The whole thing looked impossible, couldn’t be real,” Kupris recalled later, still shaking with fright. He saw a severe wound on her upper leg. Blood was pouring out of the cut. He pressed firmly on the wound, but there was still no response. Panic surged through him as he realized he needed to act quickly — every second counted.
Kupris applied pressure to the wound, using his shirt to slow the bleeding. He shouted for help and stayed by her side, keeping her conscious. Soon, paramedics arrived and took over. Stephanie was rushed to the hospital, where doctors managed to stabilize her. Thanks to Kupris quick thinking and actions, she survived the emergency.

C. A sharp object from the bicycle frame. D. The handle grip of the bicycle broke off.
25. What was Stephanie’s immediate reaction after the injury
A. She applied pressure to her wound. B. She panicked and felt herself fading.
C. She was able to stand up and walk away. D. She tried to call for help but was too weak.
26. How did Kupris respond to the situation
A. He ran to get a first aid kit quickly.
B. He called an ambulance and waited for help.
C. He went for medical assistance immediately.
D. He rushed to help and applied pressure to the wound.
27. What can we learn from the passage
A. Cycling on familiar paths is always safe.
B. Having a first aid kit is crucial for cycling.
C. Checking for potholes while cycling is always important.
D. Staying calm and acting quickly in emergencies make a difference.
C
“There are a large number of accidents that are happening every day due to carelessness most of them, unfortunately, from human errors,” says lead author Mehdi Hosseinzadeh, assistant professor in Washington State University, “Robots act as planned and follow the rules, but humans often don’t follow the rules. That’s the most difficult and challenging problem.”
Robots working with people are increasingly common in many industries, where they often work together. Many industries require that humans and robots share a workspace, but repetitive and boring work can make people lose their focus and make mistakes. Most computer programs help robots react when a mistake happens. Those algorithms (算法) might focus either on improving efficiency or safety, but they haven’t considered the changing behavior of the people they’ re working with, says Hosseinzadeh.
As part of their effort to develop a plan for the robots the researchers first worked to quantify (量化) human carelessness, looking at factors such as how often a human ignores or misses a safety alert. “We defined the carelessness, and the robot observed the behavior of the human and tried to understand it,” he says, “The concept of carelessness level is something about that.”
Once the robot identifies humans careless behavior, it is programmed to change how it interacts with the human acting that way, working to diminish the chance that the person might cause a workplace error or hurt themselves. So, for instance, the robot might change the way it manages its tasks to avoid getting in the human’s way. The robot continuously updates the carelessness level and any changes that it observes.
The researchers tested their plan with a computer simulation of a packaging line made up of four people and a robot. They also tested a simulated cooperative assembly line where two humans would work together with a robot. “The core idea is to make the algorithm less sensitive to the behavior of careless humans,” says Hosseinzadeh. “Our results revealed that the proposed scheme (计划) has the capability of improving efficiency and safety.”
After conducting a computerized simulation, the researchers are planning to test their work in a laboratory with real robots and people-and eventually in field studies. They also want to quantify and account for other human characteristics that affect workplace productivity, such as human rationality (理性) or danger awareness.
28. What is the function of the first two paragraphs
A. To clarify the importance of a new algorithm.
B. To explain the reason for human carelessness.
C. To highlight the advantage of robots over humans.
D. To show the trend of cooperation between robots and humans.
29. What does the underlined word “diminish” in Paragraph 4 mean
A. Reduce. B. Change. C. Indicate. D. Predict.
30. How will the robot react once it notices human’s carelessness
A Take over humans’ work.
B. Send a security warning to humans.
C. Remove all barriers of the task for humans.
D. Update its program timely to adapt to human’s changes.
31. What would be a suitable title for this text
A. Will Robots Replace Humans in Workplace in the Future
B. Dangers Hidden in Cooperation Between Humans and Robots
C. A Significant Discovery: Robots Are More Focused than Humans
D. A New Algorithm Guards Robots by Making Them Notice Human Carelessness
D
From more boiling summers to more frequent floods, warming weather is impacting our lives in every aspect. For animals, however, it’s not just a comfortable living environment in danger, but their very existence (生存). Many animals that we love, including penguins and elephants, are in danger of disappearing due to climate change.
A study published on March 7 used fossils from sea creatures to find out which animals are facing the highest risk of extinction as our planet’s climate continues to shift.
Carried out by the University of Oxford, the study found that the size of an animal plays a big part in its ability to survive and reproduce. Smaller animals are more likely to become extinct because they tend to use up their energy quickly due to their size. They need lots of food to keep going, so any change that makes food scarce (短缺的) affects them more. Furthermore, small animals usually don’t live as long as larger ones, making them more vulnerable (易受伤害的) to factors that might reduce their numbers.
Another problem is that small animals generally can’t travel far. So, if their current home is disturbed, or if they face danger, it’s tough for them to find new homes or escape threats. If their living area is broken apart, or if they end up isolated from each other, they are more at risk of going extinct, according to the study.
Apart from small animals, those living in extreme heat or cold, such as at the poles, are facing more threats from climate change. These places go through big weather changes, making life even more difficult for species that have already been dealing with tough conditions. As climate change worsens, these extreme environments change rapidly, posing a greater risk for the animals living there.
This study presented us with important information on how to protect wildlife as the world gets warmer. “Knowing which creatures are most at risk is crucial for planning conservation efforts as climate change worsens,” commented the website Earth. By focusing on the most vulnerable species, conservationists can direct their work more effectively, making the most of limited resources and improving the chances of keeping biodiversity alive despite the environmental challenges.
32. What is the biggest consequence of climate crisis on animals
A. Their fossils are at risk. B. Their sizes are getting smaller.
C. Their survival is under threat. D. Their habitats get uncomfortable.
33. What factors make smaller animals easily affected by global warming
A. Energy source and living style. B. Food shortage and life duration.
C. Eating and reproduction patterns. D. Travel capacity and isolation preference.
34. According to the author, how can we effectively protect animals from the environmental challenges
A. Plan our conservation efforts in advance.
B. Focus on the animals facing the highest risk.
C. Make the most of our current energy resources.
D. Get updated information about wildlife protection.

Watching a film critically is a skill worth developing because it helps you learn what makes a film good according to your own tastes. What makes the early films of a director great fun while the later ones a total mess ____35____ Here, we take a look at how you can watch films more critically.
Give the film your undivided attention at least once. Filmmakers accept that they won’t always have their audience’s undivided attention. Significant plot points will be highlighted with incidental music so that you focus. ____36____ Try, just once, to watch the film as they intended.
Consider the themes the film explored. Picking out the themes and assessing how the film treats them is a central point of film criticism. It might be an uncomfortable allegory (讽喻). ____37____ For instance, The Lion King drew on the plot of Hamlet. Does it breathe new life into the story and take it in an interesting direction
Analyze sound, lighting and production. You may only notice sound if the levels are all wrong and the incidental music drowns out the dialog. Lighting, similarly, you may only notice if everything is so bright that it looks like the action is taking place in a dentist’s office. ___38___ You might consider how the choice of costume brightens a character.
____39____ It’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking that there is something that is objectively good or bad. But if you find yourself loving a film that other people seem to dislike, that isn’t necessarily a sign that there’s something wrong with your taste. It could be that a film’s sense of humor agrees with your own, or that a film reflects your life experiences.
A. Don’t forget that it’s all subjective.
B. Think about why you did or didn’t enjoy it.
C. Try to train yourself to see these aspects of a film every time.
D. Why do some films excite people while others send people to sleep
E. How was the film constructed to provide a new insight into the theme
F. Characters’ names might be repeated to make sure that you’ve heard them.
G You can also consider if the film has drawn any inspiration from other source material.
第三部分:书面表达 (共两节,32分)
第一节(共4小题;第40、41题各2分,第42题3分,第43题5分,共 12分)
阅读下面短文,根据题目要求用英语回答问题。请在答题卡指定区域作答。
Selfie tourism is a growing trend where travelers visit iconic landmarks to take photos for social media. It’s less about personal experience and more about curating an image for social media. This new phenomenon focuses on “visiting destinations primarily to take and share photos of themselves, often with iconic landmarks in the background,” according to UNESCO. Even though it promotes the tourist economy to some extent, it’s a plague (瘟疫).
UNESCO warns that selfie tourism is having terrible consequences on many of the world’s most famous landmarks. A UNESCO spokesperson said: “In many cases, it has led to overcrowding at specific landmarks, creating pressure on local facilities and contributing to the degradation of visitor experience.”
For example, in Venice, local officials have had to contend with disrespectful behavior from visitors who see the city as little more than a background for their photos. The constant foot traffic, sometimes accompanied by reckless behavior, is damaging the city’s delicate facilities. Similarly, in other tourist-heavy areas like the Eiffel Tower, there have been reports of tourists disregarding safety precautions just for the perfect shot.
In response cities and destinations around the world are fighting back with fines and duties. Portofino, Italy, introduced fines for tourists lingering too long in popular selfie spots. Other cities steer tourists away from overrun n landmarks. In Florence, efforts are underway to direct visitors to lesser known neighborhoods.
However, many of these places have a tourism dependent economy. Efforts to manage tourism must consider not only economic growth but also the long term preservation of cultural landmarks and local communities. But it is a difficult act to balance. To address this challenge effectively, governments, local officials, and tourists alike must work together to ensure that tourism is both sustainable and respectful of the cultural treasures it seeks to showcase.

【44题答案】
【答案】Dear Jim,
I’m glad to hear about your school’s “Amazing Chinese Paintings” promotion activity. I’d like to recommend “Along the River During the Qingming Festival” to you.
This is a famous scroll painting by Zhang Zeduan in the Song Dynasty. It vividly depicts the bustling city life and rich landscapes of Bianjing at that time, covering various aspects like markets, boats, and people’s daily routines.
I recommend it because it is a precious cultural heritage that shows the high-level painting skills of ancient Chinese artists. It also offers a window into the economic, social and cultural situations of the Song Dynasty.
I hope this recommendation will be helpful for your activity.
Yours,
Li Hua
