(1) the main idea of this text may be…….
(2) this passage is mainly about…….
(3) the author's purpose in writing this text…….
(4) which of the following is the best title for the passage
(5) what’s the topic of the text
(6) the passage gives us is…...
1、吃透文章的表层意思,是推理的前提和基础;
2、推理的根据来自于上下文;
3、不能以自己的观点代替作者的观点;
4、在提问中常用的词有suggest,mean,infer(推断),from the fact,indicate(暗示) conclusion,probably,likely,reason,because,according to"等。
(1) it can be known from the text that ….?
(2) from the text we know that ….?
(3) the story implies that ….?
(4) the paragraph following the passage will most probably be ….?
(5) the writer suggests that….?
1、注意一些过渡词语,如that is, this is, in other words等,它们直接引出了同义解释;

"It is especially beautiful. No matter who you are or what your age is, seeing something so fantastic is truly attractive," said Jin Huilin, who was attracted by the rich patterns (花纹) when he saw Yuhua stones for the first time.
Nanjing Yuhua stone is a type of water-worn stone mainly found in areas like Nanjing and Yizheng in Jiangsu Province. It is known for its smooth texture (质地), bright colours and rich patterns.
Because Yuhua stones are often got from mines(矿山), dry Yuhua stones look plain and grey, hiding their true quality(质量). Jin and his friends visited Luhe mining sites in Nanjing, wearing rubber shoes to collect these stones on rainy days. Rain made the stones’ detailed patterns clearer. "It’s better to carry a bottle of water on dry days to pour on the surface of the stones. Sometimes you can find something surprising," Jin said.
According to Jin, appreciating(欣赏) stones starts with their outer qualities like texture, colour, and patterns. ① However, "real appreciation of the stones requires cultural knowledge; otherwise, they might seem like just pieces of colour," said Jin. With cultural knowledge and imagination, people could see different patterns, such as trees, mountains, or flowers. " ② The stones a person chooses as their favourites can show their cultural awareness(意识)," Jin added.
Watching patterns of stones in the water is not the only way to appreciate stones. Jin also mentioned other ways. ③ He gave some examples. "Some people enjoy holding stones in their hands, appreciating their special textures, or using strong light to discover hidden patterns that are even more beautiful. Others choose to put the stones on the desk, inviting guests to appreciate the stones from different positions," said Jin. ④
For Jin, stone watching brings joy and something fresh to his life. "Some people like to have lively pets while I prefer stones for their lasting nature," Jin added.
34.Jin suggests carrying a bottle of water when collecting stones on dry days because ________.
A. water can bring people good luck B. stones can avoid being polluted with water
C. water can help find the stones’ true quality D. the weather makes people feel thirsty easily
35.The sentence "So, watching stones is, in some ways, watching oneself." most probably comes from ________.
A. ① B. ② C. ③ D. ④
36.What can we know about Yuhua stones from the passage
A. Their true quality can be found easily on the surface.
B. They can be found in most cities in Jiangsu Province.
C. There are different patterns like mountains and flowers in them.
D. The textures are seen more clearly in the water than with strong light.
37.What is the best title for the passage
A. Pieces of Colour B. Magic from water
C. Stone Appreciation in Water D. A World of Beauty in Stones

It might be fun to use your smartphone, but be careful. Too much screen time may be harmful to your health.
First, it is bad for your eyes. A researcher called Sarah Hinkley says the problem comes from the blue light that the screen gives out. Looking at a smartphone for a long time can cause eye strain (劳损), headaches and dry eyes. So it is a good idea to take a break every 15 minutes when you are working at a computer or using a smartphone.
Second, screen use can do harm to children’s brains. A new study shows that using screens too much can affect (影响) how children’s brains grow. If children use screens for more than one hour a day, they might have lower levels of white matter in their brains. White matter is a key to the development of language and reading skills. So it is wise to cut down the time of children using all kinds of screens.
Third, using screens too much will affect your sleep. According to a study, about 95% of people between the ages of 13 and 64 use electronics before bed, especially the young people under 20. Doctors say that the light from those electronics at night may make you excited before you go to bed. Then it’s hard for you to get enough sleep. So you’d better turn off smartphones, TVs, and all other screens an hour before your bedtime.
To keep healthy, doctors and researchers strongly advise that you shouldn’t use screens for long hours.
19. The blue light from your screens can cause ________.
①eye strain ②headaches ③dry eyes
A. ① B. ②③ C. ①③ D. ①②③
20. According to the passage, you can’t sleep well because you ________.

22. What is the main idea of the passage
A. The ways to keep healthy.
B. The harm of using screens too much.
C. The ways to use screens.
D. The advantages of using screens.

The sun was setting on the Pacific, and I stood enjoying the warm light through my hotel window. Suddenly, loud cries broke the silence—five white-faced monkeys jumped in, took away my bananas and rushed into the forest! This was just one of many surprising moments in Costa Rica.
A few days earlier, I first got to a lively town in this small country. It sits at the foot of Arenal Volcano (火山). When I looked up, thick clouds completely covered the volcano—there was nothing to see! But the next morning, I woke up early—and there it was! I couldn’t look away!
Then I hiked to see La Fortuna Waterfall. Going down 500 steps was tiring, but blue butterflies danced around me. The waterfall was so loud! I touched the water—it was freezing cold! Still, I jumped in like a brave penguin. That evening, I relaxed in the natural hot spring under the waterfall.
The next day, I visited Monteverde Cloud Forest with a guide. While crossing a bridge high above the trees, I couldn’t believe my eyes: plants covered everywhere in Costa Rica—mountains, beaches and even towns! Nature is truly the boss here! “Our rainforest cover has doubled from 26% to over 52% in the past 30 years,” my guide told me. “We’ve set up many nature parks to protect the rainforest.” Just as I was wowed by the sea of green, a whisper came, “Be quiet—big cats live here.”
As we left the cloud forest, my guide smiled and said, “Everyone here lives with nature.” That’s when I realized: Costa Rica’s magic isn’t just its beauty—it’s how local people work together to keep it wild.

When I was a teenager, my parents were never interested in the music I liked. They said it sounded like “a lot of noise”. At the same time, my father regularly described the music that he liked as “beautiful”.
As it turns out, my father is not alone. As I’ve grown older, I’ve often heard people of my age say, “Today’s music is terrible.” Why do many old people just dislike new music
The mere exposure effect may explain this. It means the more familiar (熟悉的) we are with something, the more likely we are to prefer it. When we are in our early teens, we usually spend a lot of time listening to music and discussing it with our friends. The songs and artists that are popular during this time become familiar to us. After we turn 30 years old, working and raising a family take up most of our time. Instead of discovering new music, we listen to old favorites that connect us to a simpler time. Studies show that by the time they turn 33 years old, most people have completely stopped exploring new music.
But I think there is another explanation for why older people don’t like new music. Most popular music, after all, is not written for them. It is made for young people. Punk, rap, hip-hop, heavy metal, and many other types of music began as youthful rebellions (叛逆) against out-of-date ways of doing things. They naturally attract younger audiences.
Do your parents hate the music you like, too Now, after reading this article, you know that there is nothing wrong with that.
19.When the writer was a teenager, his parents described the music he liked as ________.
A.beautiful B.noisy C.common D.out-of-date

②old people want to be different from young people
③new music is not specially written for old people
④old people have formed their own musical tastes
A.①② B.②③ C.③④ D.①④

①In today's busy world, research shows that more and more people are feeling “time poor”. Time poverty (贫穷) can happen when study, work, or social duties take up too much of a person 's time, leaving little or no time for fun or personal interests. It can also happen when people feel like they are running out of time to reach their goals or finish tasks before the deadline Besides, we often say “yes” to any extra work. It could be to help your team or your friends. But by saying “yes” to everything, you are adding another task to an already full plate.
②People who don's t have enough time fail to perform well at work and remain stressed. Too much stress can harm mental (心理的) health. Moreover, less quality (优质的) time with friends and families can make a person feel lonelier. So how can you stop being time poor
③Manage your time properly. It may seem harmless to stay in bed till noon on weekends, but the time wasted every week can add up quickly if you don’t realize it. In order to make better use of your time, you can make careful plans before you actually spend it. Try to find out what things in your life are not that important for now and put them off. In this way, you can stick to your plan and focus better on your work.
④Make quality time a true value in your life. It’s important to focus on how you spend your time with someone or doing something. Train yourself to be more present in your life. That is to say, pay attention to one thing at a time. For example, when you are spending time with your family, be present and enjoy yourself rather than still worry about work.
⑤ We are all given the same 24 hours each day. By managing your time properly and valuing quality time, you can make the most of your life and become the real owner of it.
38.Which person below will most probably experience time poverty

Last week, some German parents who took their kids out of school early were stopped by the police at the airport. The police were making reports on students who didn't have permission (许可) to miss school.
Like many places, it is against the law to skip (不参加) school in Germany. Children over the age of 9 can't miss classes without permission from the school. But during busy travel time, some parents take their children out of school early to save money on vacations. People can often save a lot of money on flights and hotels by going at a different time than others.
Last weekend was the beginning of an important holiday period in Germany. People in charge of the schools asked the police to check and make sure that students weren't leaving for vacations before they were allowed to.
Police officers at three German airports looked for families with school-aged children. When they found them, the police pulled the families out of lines to talk with them. They wanted to find out if the parents had permission for the children to be out of school. If the children did not have permission, the police reported the families to their schools and to the government. In all, the police reported about 20 families.
These families will have two weeks to show that it was okay for their children to miss school. If they can't, they may have to pay as much as $1,200 as a fine (罚款), or receive some other punishment.
Germany is not the only place where parents have to pay fines if their children miss school. Many other countries and many of the states in the U.S. have similar laws.
The good news is that the families were allowed to go on vacation after they talked to the police. But they might have a big bill waiting for them when they get back.

A. They can spend more time with their children. B. Their children will study by themselves.
C. They want to save money. D. Their children can take online courses.

Forest bathing began in Japan in the 1980s. It is a practice called shinrin-yoku, which can be translated as “taking in the medicine or air of the forest”. It has recently grown more popular worldwide. When people take time in the natural green world to “be” in a fully present way, research shows many mind-body benefits.
One of the benefits of taking a walk in nature is getting away from screens. When we enjoy nature, we keep ourselves away from computers or mobile phones. We take a break and allow ourselves time to get strength and energy back. During forest bathing, we are heightening (增强) our senses, stopping making quick judgment, and focusing on the “now.”
In fact, forest bathing is also becoming an increasingly popular method of dealing with stress. Forest bathing has been proven to help those experiencing stressful situations. In one recent study, people who formed the habits of walking through forests had lowered blood pressure (血压) and got out of worries.
Meanwhile breathing in forest air increases the level of natural killer (NK) cells (细胞) in our blood. Our body uses these NK cells to fight illness. One Japanese study showed a rise in the number and activity of these NK cells by people who forest bathe. Plants and trees in forests can also send out something called phytoncides. This tree oil can not only protects plants and trees themselves, but also help people sleep well, lift mood and attention, and boost creativity.
Forest bathing requires a promise to a repeated practice; it’s not a one-and-done quick fix. Research in England on green spaces showed spending at least 120 minutes a week in nature is connected with good health and well-being. It doesn’t matter whether you break up the two hours into shorter walks in a local park filled with lots of trees or an afternoon in a forest.
Taking a speedy walk through nature and rushing through the activity to get back to work, let’s say, may not be as effective. Nor is it advised to play loud music as you walk.
Forest bathing shows a different way of life. You are walking through nature in a forest and taking your time. You are noticing your feelings and starting more of a relaxing and meaningful life.
23. According to the passage, during forest bathing people may ________.
A. pay full attention to the past B. make judgment more quickly
C. spend less energy to lose weight D. keep themselves away from worries
24. What does the word “boost” in Paragraph 5 probably mean
A. Improve. B. Examine. C. Control. D. Require.
25. About forest bathing, the writer might agree that people should ________.
A. play loud music while walking B. form a habit of walking in nature
C. walk for two hours in the park every time D. have a quick walk through nature before work
26. What could be the best title of the passage
A. Forest bathing: can you believe it B. Forest bathing: is it helpful or not
C. Forest bathing: benefits from nature D. Forest bathing: a way to change nature

①AI is used in many ways to make our lives better. For example, AI-powered robots can help doctors perform surgeries with more precision. AI can also help teachers by giving special lessons to students based on their learning speed and style. In our homes, smart speakers and home assistants can control lights, play music, and even tell us the weather.
②However, when it comes to disinformation(虚假信息), “Social media took the cost of spreading to zero, and AI takes the cost to zero,” says Renée DiResta of the Stanford Internet Observatory. Large language models such as GPT-4 make it easy to produce misleading news articles or social-media posts in a huge number.
③And AI can produce more than text. Cloning(克隆) a voice using AI used to require minutes, or even hours, of sample audio. Last year, however, researchers at Microsoft created VALL-E, an AI model that is able to clone a person’s voice from just a three-second clip(片段) of them speaking, and make it say any given text.
④OpenAI, the American company behind GPT-4, has developed a similar tool, Voice Engine, which can clone any voice from a 15-second clip and no one can find the difference. It has not yet released(发布) to public, because of its possible risks to the society.
⑤Similarly, Sora, from OpenAI, can produce surprisingly realistic videos of up to a minute according to the given text. OpenAI has not released Sora to the public, partly because it could be used to create disinformation. Another worry is that many people will lose their jobs in the video industry because of Sora.
⑥Though all of this is worrying, it is worth remembering that not all parts of the technology are bad. AI, it turns out, can be used for fighting disinformation as well as producing it. Anyway, it's time to think about how we use AI. We need to make sure it's used responsibly and for the good of everyone. Plus, who knows Maybe one day, you could be the one creating the next big thing in AI!
23. How does the writer lead in the topic in the beginning
A. By telling a story. B. By asking questions.
C. By giving examples. D. By comparing facts.
24.Which sentence is closest to the writer’s attitude(态度) towards AI?
AI is very useful in our daily life.
Voice Engine and Sora are the most useful AI.
Although there may be problems, the future of the AI is still bright.
People should take good use of AI no matter it is good or bad.
25. What can we know about Voice Engine according to the passage
A. It’s a tool that can clone any voice. B. It can also produce videos of one minute.
C. It is produced before GPT-4. D. It won’t cause any risk to the society.
