Winter doesn’t only mean ice and cold and staying indoors. It never means that if you're a
winter sports enthusiast and can't wait to head up“Ski Mountain”to dominate its white-crested peaks. If you want to go skiing, you will need to find a pair of skis. Here are some tips to help you choose the right skis.
Soft Bend: Beginners should choose skis with a softer bend, which makes them more
responsive and easier to handle. This is ideal for those new to skiing, as less force to control the
skis is needed.
Ski Turn Radius (半径): The turn radius affects how the skis behave. Beginners should choose skis with a short turn radius (10-15m for adults, 6-10m for children). Medium to long turn radius(17-22m and above)are better suited for advanced skiers tackling more challenging terrains
(地形).
Ski Width: For beginners, a ski width of 72-88mm is recommended for better control and
stability, Intermediate to expert skiers might prefer narrower skis (below 72mm), while those
who enjoy challenging terrains should consider wider skis (11lmm+) for stability on deep powder
and rough surfaces.
Rocker Type: Most skiers, regardless of skill level, prefer skis with a slight early rise rocker.
This design stabilizes swift moves and ensures smooth turns, making it an adaptable choice for all.
By considering these factors, you can find skis that match your skill level and enhance your
skiing experience.
21. Why is a softer bend recommended for beginner skiers
A. It is cheaper to produce.
B. It makes skis more durable.
C. It is better for advanced terrains.D. It requires less force to control the skis.
22. What ski width provides better stability on deep powder and uneven surfaces
A.Above 1llmm.
C.72-88mm.
B.88-111mm.
D. Below 72mm.
23. What is the main advantage of a slight early rise rocker

An Israeli study has revealed plants make noise a bit when they are stressed from a lack of
water or having their stems () cut. The sounds are about the same volume as normal human
conversation. However, the pitch (音高) is too high for people to hear. The researchers believe insects, other mammals and maybe even other plants can probably hear the sound of the
stressed plants,“Even in a quiet field, there are actually sounds we don't hear, and those sounds
carry information," said Lilach Hadany, a professor from TelAviv University. “Some animals can hear these sounds, so there is a possibility that a lot of interaction is occurring.
The researchers used microphones to record healthy and stressed tomato plants, and
trained a machine learning algorithm (算法) to distinguish between unstressed plants, thirsty plants and cut plants. They found that stressed plants give out more sounds than unstressed ones. The sounds from stressed plants resembled pops or clicks.
The study, published in the journal Cell, found thirsty plants began making noise before they
visibly dehydrated, and the frequency of sounds peaked after five days with no water.before
decreasing again as the plants dried up completely. Hadany said happy plants were found to
make far fewer sounds. When tomato plants were not stressed at all, they were very quiet.
The study also found sound recordings of plants could be useful in agriculture to ensure
crops get enough water and distribute water where it was needed most.
However, it's unclear why plants produce these sounds and who might be listening
Professor Hadany said, “We are currently investigating the responses of other organisms, both animals and plants,to these sounds, and we're also exploring our ability to identify and interpret the sounds incompletely natural environments.
28. Why do stressed plants make noise according to the text
A. To ease the pain.
B. To stress their hobby.
C.To communicate with other organisms.
D. To inform other creatures of their emotions.
29. What is the closest meaning of the underlined word “dehydrated" in paragraph 4
A. Lacked light.
C. Filled with too much light.
B.Lacked water.
D.Filled with too much water.
30. What could the study be applied to if scientists succeed in it
A. Planting unstressed trees.
B. Analyzing different sounds.
C.Ensuring the growing conditions of plants.
D, Taking appropriate measures to water plants.
31.What does Professor Hadany think of the research
A. lt'll be of great value.
C. It'll need further study.
B. It'll appeal to more farmers.
D. It'll be environmentally-friendly.

For centuries, we've pursued happiness and meaning. But what does that leave out As
asocial psychologist, I have dedicated my research career to a simple, but universal
question:what makes for a good life, and how can we achieve it
For much of human history, we have been presented with two possibilities: pursuing a life
of happiness, or a life of meaning. Each of these paths has its benefits, but decades of
psychological research have also revealed their limits.Ask the Danes and Finns, who
consistently rank among the happiest people in the world.what their secret is and they'll tell you
this: lower your expectations and be content with what you have. It sounds good, doesn't it But
it leaves something out. It's a bit like being a college student who only takes easy courses to be
sure of getting good grades. Might there be more to life than simple pleasures and cozy comfort
Then there's the meaningful life. We often imagine that meaning flows from trying to
change the world like Steve Jobs. Once again, the research shows that lowering your sights and
focusing on the little things can offer a more achievable sense of meaning. Often people find it in
routines like taking care of family, or volunteering in the community. But there is also a dark side
to the pursuit of meaning: researchers have found that it can encourage people to draw sharp
lines between those who belong in their group and those who don't.
My research lab mapped out a third route to fulfillment: psychological richness. A
psychologically rich life is one filled with diverse, unusual and interesting experiences that
change your perspective, a life with twists and turns, a life that feels like a long, winding hike
rather than many laps of the same racing circuit. Such experiences can make us tougher. No only
that, embracing the pursuit of psychological richness can make us less likely to regret: it matters
less if the thing you did went wrong.
Perhaps no one said it better than Eleanor Roosevelt:“The purpose of life, after all, is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear'
32.What is revealed about pursuing happiness or meaning
A. Their benefits outweigh the limits.
B. They are equally difficult to achieve.
C. Both paths have limits despite their benefits.
D. Most people prioritize happiness over meaning.
33. What does the example of“'a college student" show in paragraph 3
A. Gratitude is essential for a happy life.
B. We should live up to others’ expectations.
C.Happiness requires academic achievement
D. Life means more than leisure and comfort.
34.What can be inferred from paragraph 4 about the pursuit of meaning
A. Its negative effect might weaken social unity in the long run.
B. It is more achievable through grand ambitions than small actions.
C.Volunteering is the most effective way to gain a sense of meaning.
D. People who pursue meaning often neglect their family responsibilities.
35. What is the author's main purpose in writing this article
A. To promote Roosevelt's life philosophy.
B. To introduce a new concept of life fulfillment.
C. To criticize traditional psychological research
D, To compare different cultural views on happiness

When Jaron Casillas was very young, his parents discovered that he saw the world a bit
differently: a Texas sunrise for example.
One morning, Jaron’s mom was driving him to school beneath an especially spectacular
Texas sunrise. She heard his little voice from the car seat behind her say, “ Look, Mommy!Look at the beautiful green sunshine!" She turned to look at it, The rising sun was so beautiful, flooding
the earth with warmth and red light. However, Jaron's mom was about to cry.“Oh dear, my poor boy," she thought.
Without delay, the parents rushed Jaron to the hospital for a check-up, which turned out to
be color blindness.
On that fateful day, Jaron's parents were shocked to learn that their son was color blind a
condition that affects a person's ability to see colors in the same way as others. There is no cure,
but special glasses can help individuals like Jaron distinguish between different colors.
Unfortunately, these glasses are often too expensive for most families to afford.
The parents were sad, but Jaron remained calm and even comforted his parents. He saw his
condition as something special and decided to keep it a secret, However, his silence caused him
to feel left out when others talked about colors.
One day, during a class discussion, the teacher, Christina Hayes, asked the students to share
a secret about themselves. Working up his courage, Jaron revealed his condition to his
classmates, explaining that he saw gray instead of colors like purple, green, and blue. When the
teacher asked if there was anything that could help him, Jaron mentioned the special glasses, but
noted that they were too expensive for his family.
Hearing Jaron's words, the teacher fought back tears and praised the boy for his
bravery. The other students looked at Jaron with newfound understanding and empathy.注意:
1.续写词数应为 150 左右;

参考范文
After class, Jaron's classmates privately, approached Haves. Miss Hayes was curious and
asked with a big smile,“What's the matter, kids " The children looked at each other with uneasy
expressions. Finally, one boy got up the courage to say, “Miss Hayes, we are thinking if we could raise money to buy Jaron the special glasses. We can't imagine how dull life will be without
colors." Hearing this, Hayes’ heart melted. Touched by their kindness, Miss Hayes helped plan a fundraiser, Through collective contributions, they successfully amassed the funds required, Then in a class meeting, the students plotted a surprise and presented the gift to Jaron sincerely.
Seeing the special glasses, Jaron was puzzled, But looking at the expectant faces of his
classmates, he seemed to understand something. So he blushed and asked, “Are they for me ”
“Of course! Now you're just like us!" His classmates cheered as Jaron accepted the gift When Jaron put them on, he was moved to tears by the vivid colors. Overwhelmed with gratitude, he tightly hugged them, with his heart fluttering with wonder. He finally realized that although there may be differences between people, friendship and love can bridge all the gaps.
