第一节(满分 15 分) One possible version: Dear Tom,
I’m so excited you’re enjoying learning Chinese idioms. My favorite is Gao Shan Liu Shui,
which literally means “high mountains and flowing water.” It symbolizes beautiful music or a
profound friendship, representing harmony and mutual understanding. The idiom comes from an
ancient story about a musician named Yu Boya and his friend Zhong Ziqi, who deeply understood
Yu’s music.
I love this idiom because it shows the value of true friendship and shared passion, much like
our own connection. It reminds me that the best relationships are built on sincerity and
appreciation. Hope you find it meaningful too.
Yours,
Li Hua
第二节(满分 25 分) One possible version:
With much embarrassment, I admitted to my daughter the fear in my heart. My voice
trembled as I described the panic that overwhelmed me whenever wings fluttered near me. She
listened quietly, her small hand patting mine. “Mom,” she said thoughtfully, “birds are just tiny
creatures trying to live, like us. Maybe if you watch them longer, you’ll see they’re more afraid of
you.” Her words echoed in my mind that night as I lay awake, remembering how gently she’d
held the sparrow.
The next day, a bird sang near my window—I knew it was time to try my daughter’s
advice. I held my breath, fighting the urge to retreat. The bird turned its head, and then suddenly
flapped its wings—but instead of attacking, it simply flew to a nearby tree branch. As I watched it
clean its feathers in the sunlight, I realized something important: the bird wasn’t interested in
harming me. It was just going about its daily life. For the first time, I didn’t feel afraid. Maybe, I
thought, not all birds were to be feared. I could learn to coexist with these winged creatures
without fear.2026 届高三上期 9 月模拟预测

Ignacio Vasquez, a 20-year-old college student, spent a year saving money for tickets to
Beyoncé’s upcoming Cowboy Carter tour, only to find presale tickets priced at a minimum of $600
each and many at more than $l,000— far beyond his budget. “The prices were just shockingly high.”
Mr. Vasquez said and abandoned his plan.
In recent years, concertgoers have paid eye-popping prices for tickets to see popular artists like
Beyoncé, Taylor Swift and Oasis on tour. But Gen Z fans — those born between 1997 and 2012 —
are paying much more for concert tickets than previous generations did when they were young adults.
In 1996, the average ticket price for the top 100 tours was $25.8l, or about $52 adjusted for inflation(
通货膨胀), according to data released by Pollstar, a trade publication that covers the live music
industry. By 2024, average ticket prices had risen to $135.92.
The live music industry has put today’s young adults in an impossibly expensive position. For
Gen Z, spending on concerts can be budget breakers. In a survey published last year by Merge, a
marketing agency, 86 percent Gen Z surveyed admitted overspending on live events.
Fear of missing out, or FOMO, was cited as a top reason. Another survey by AAA, the
automobile owners group, and Bread Financial, a financial services company, found that Gen Z are
willing to spend more and travel farther to attend live events than older generations are.
Last year, Chricket Cho, 25, attended seven concerts in the United States and Canada. She spent
$8,400 on tickets and travel for the shows. “I just feel like live music is something that makes me feel
alive.” said Ms. Cho, an information technology auditor who earns about $100,000 annually. Ms.
Cho said she didn’t have a price cap for buying concert tickets. But she said soaring ticket prices had
made her reconsider going to concerts if the artists weren’t her “all-time favorites” like Ms. Swift or
Bleachers.
24. Why does the author mention Ignacio Vasquez’s experience in the first paragraph
A. To show the high prices of concert tickets.
B. To advise students against concert spending.
C. To stress Beyoncé’s popularity among Gen Z fans.
D. To illustrate the difficulty with concert ticket purchase.
25. What is the main reason for Gen Z’s overspending on concerts
A. They are affected by inflation. B. They are afraid of being left out.
C. They long to support their favourite stars. D. They view concerts as an essential part of life
26. What can be inferred about Chricket Cho
A. She can’t afford the high concert costs. B. She regrets spending so much on concerts
C. She has a spending limit on concert tickets D. She has become more selective about concerts.
27. Which of the following can be a suitable title for the text
A. Gen Z Save Money for Concert Costs
B. Gen Z Beat Older Generations in Concert Love
C. Sky-High Concert Prices Break Gen Z’s Budgets
D. Gen Z Are Tired of Rocketing Ticket Prices for Concerts

For decades, scientists thought of the brain as the most valuable and consequently most closely
guarded part of the body. Locked safely behind the blood-brain barrier, it was broadly free of the
harm of viruses and the battles started by the immune system (免疫系统). Then, about 20 years ago,
some researchers began to wonder: is the brain really so separated from the body The answer,
according to a growing body of evidence, is no.
The list of brain conditions that have been associated with changes elsewhere in the body is long
and growing. Changes in the makeup of the microorganisms in the digestive system have been linked
to disorders such as Parkinson’s disease. There is also a theory that infection during pregnancy could
lead to brain diseases in babies.
The effect is two-way. There is a lengthening list of symptoms not typically viewed as disorders
of the nervous system, but the brain plays a large part in them. For example, the development of a
fever is influenced by a population of nerve cells that control body temperature and appetite.
Evidence is mounting that cancers use nerves to grow and spread.
The interconnection between the brain and body has promising influence on our ability to both
understand and treat illnesses. If some brain disorders start outside the brain, then perhaps treatments
for them could also reach in from outside. Treatments that take effect through the digestive system,
the heart or other organs, would be much easier and less risky than those that must cross the
blood-brain barrier.
It also works in the opposite direction. Study shows mice have healthier hearts after receiving
stimulation to a brain area involved in positive emotion and motivation. Activation of the brain
reward centre — called the ventral tegmental area (VTA) — seems to cause immune changes that
contribute to it. Working out how this happens could help to destroy cancers, enhance responses to
vaccines and even re-evaluate physical diseases that, for centuries, have not been considered as being
psychologically driven.
28. What do the researchers focus on about the brain
A. Its protecting system. B. Its exposure to diseases.
C. Its controlling function. D. Its connection to the body.
29. How does the author support his idea in paragraph 2
A By explaining a theory. B. By providing examples.
C. By making comparisons. D. By presenting cause and effect.
30. Which best describes treatments that do not cross the blood-brain barrier
A. Cheaper. B. More specific. C. Safer. D. More direct.
31. What does the study suggest in the last paragraph
A. Brain health depends on immune changes.
B. Brain stimulation leads to negative emotions.
C. The brain can help treat cancer.
D. The brain may be key to treating physical diseases.

An ancient Latin proverb says “Aquila non capit muscas” — eagles don’t hunt flies—
meaning that important ones shouldn’t concern themselves with small, insignificant matters. But the
试卷第 5 页,共 10 页
lions in East Africa should concern themselves with the seemingly insignificant ants, because these
ants are changing their lifestyles.
The story starts with the acacia trees in an African wildlife area in central Kenya. Some of these
acacia trees provide food and shelter for specific ant species, which in turn defend the tree against
herbivores (食草动物). The ants are actively attacking and driving away herbivores that attempt to
feed on the tree’s leaves. This is highly effective; the ants not only physically harm the herbivores but
also release chemicals that can deter other potential attackers.
But these ants are in trouble. Another species called the “big-headed” ant is destroying entire
groups of tree-protecting ants. This, in turn, sets off an entire chain of events that ends up influencing
when and how lions can hunt.
This ant invasion affects one thing after the other. It leaves the acacia trees defenseless against
herbivores, especially elephants. The elephants come in and eat the acacias at five to seven times the
rate observed in uninvaded areas. The lions, while hunting for food, have no more trees to use for
hiding. This reduced tree cover makes lions less successful at hunting and pushes them to find
different areas to hunt in.
“These tiny invaders are pulling on the ties that put an African ecosystem together, determining
who is eaten and where,” said Todd Palmer, an ecologist from Florida.
The lions, which are already endangered, are managing to cope with this by no longer focusing
their attention on zebras. The zebras, of course, can see them much better on the approach given the
lack of cover. Instead, they are targeting water buffalo. But this also isn’t the end of the story. Who
knows what the lions’ changing strategy will mean for the ecosystem down the line
32. What does the underlined word “deter” in paragraph 2 mean
A. Seek. B. Direct. C. Assess. D. Discourage.
33. What role do the elephants play in the chain reaction
A. Damaging the hiding place for lions. B. Cooperating with “big-headed” ants.
C. Protecting the acacias from herbivores. D. Starting off the disturbance of the chain.
34. The author mentions lions, zebras and water buffalo to show that ______.
A. animals fall victim to bigger ones
B. the ecology is on the road to recovery
C. animals are co-related in the ecosystem
D. species are firmly positioned in the food chain
35. What is the text mainly about
A. Why African lions are endangered.
B. What ecologists find about animals.
C. How tiny ants affect the way lions hunt.
D. How the law of the jungle works in Africa.

67. 第二节(满分 25 分) 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
I intentionally walked in front of an oncoming car—to avoid a pigeon. As the car came to a
sudden stop just a few feet away, I panicked, realizing I almost got killed. “What’s wrong with you ”
the driver yelled, cursing angrily. “Do you want to die ”
I knew what was wrong with me. I had a lifelong fear of birds. My mother claimed that, when I
was an infant, I started to cry if a bird flew past my baby carriage. During my childhood, I dashed
away from bird cages in pet stores. The sound of birds singing outside left me shaking. Well-meaning
friends of my parents tried to break my extreme fear by taking their talkative bird from its cage and
letting it fly around me. They asked me to allow the bird stay on my arm for one second, two seconds
and more to get rid of my fear. However, I’d run away from the room screaming, convinced that their
noisy parrot would peck out my eyes.
When I watched Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds on television, I knew my fear was reasonable. In
the plot, ordinary birds tore open roofs and violently attacked people. I always knew that birds would
rise up against humanity someday.
One day, while I and my daughter were in the park, she noticed a small sparrow struggling to fly.
Instead of running away, she gently picked it up and held it gently in her hands. She spoke softly to it,
and after a few minutes, the bird regained its strength and flew away. She looked at me with a smile
and said, “Mom, what a lovely bird!”
Somehow, my rooted fear of birds seemed to lessen a little at that moment. Her interaction with
the bird gave me a sense of hope and confidence. However, I was still attached to the fantasy that
birds would attack me, bite my face, claw at my eyes, and possibly kill me. I wasn’t sure if I could
change.
注意:1.续写词数应为 150 个左右;

With much embarrassment, I admitted to my daughter the fear in my heart.
