【原文】
This year, March the twenty first was set as a world day for Glaciers to encourage everyone to help save them. Glaciers are slowly moving ice on land. They hold seventy percent of earth’s freshwater and play an important role on earth. In areas like the Himalayas, many people and animals need glacier water to live. Also, mountains with glaciers are home to a large number of animals. However, climate change leads to serious problems. Many glaciers have disappeared and others are disappearing. So there will be less water for people to drink and farm. While floods may happen more often. It would also be bad for animals and plants. Some animals may need to move higher up the mountains. In order to prevent this, scientists in China are taking action. Special glacier blankets of high technology are put on Glacier No. 1 in Xinjiang. In the Qilian Mountains, scientists also create snow to help glaciers stay cooler. Besides, drones are now used to watch glaciers closely. All of these methods work well. We should spare no effort to protect them.
