专题五 形容词和副词

基本用法
1. 形容词用来修饰名词或代词，表示人或物的性质、特征和状态，在句中一般作
定语、表语或宾语补足语等。
Suddenly, he saw a car with its bright lights on. （作定语）
It is particularly interesting to compare the two versions. （作表语）
Please keep the door open. （作宾补）
2. 副词用来修饰动词、形容词、副词、介词短语或整个句子，表示时间、
地点、方式、程度、动作、频率等，在句中主要作状语。
Mary and Jane are quite different. （修饰形容词）
He spoke too quickly to understand. （修饰副词）
Generally, it's a book worth reading. （修饰句子）

形容词变副词
1. 一般情况下，在形容词词尾加ly。
2. 一些以辅音字母加y结尾的形容词，先把y改为i，再加ly。
3. 以l结尾的形容词，在词尾加ly。
4. 以ll结尾的形容词，在词尾加y。
5. 普通以e结尾的形容词，在词尾加ly。
6. 以ble或le结尾的形容词，去掉e加y。
7. 以ue或ole结尾的形容词，去掉e加ly。
wonderful → wonderfully
easy → easily, angry → angrily
usual → usually, careful → carefully
full → fully, dull → dully
late → lately, polite → politely
possible → possibly, simple →simply
true → truly, due → duly, whole → wholly

比较等级
1. as ... as（有时也用the same ... as, such ... as），意为“……和……一样”，否定形式为not as/so ... as。
2. 比较级+and+比较级，“越来越……”。
3. the+比较级……， the+比较级……，“越……，越……”。
4. 形容词比较级与否定词连用表示最高级意义。
5. no+比较级+than，“两者都不……”；not+比较级+than， “（前者）不比（后者）更……”。
6. 否定词+比较级，有最高级的含义。

倍数表达法
（1）倍数+as+形容词/副词原级+as
The big box is four times as heavy as the small one.
（2）倍数+形容词/副词比较级+than
The car runs twice faster than that truck.
（3）倍数+the+度量衡名词+of
The newly-built square is four times the size of the previous one.
（4）倍数+what从句
Cotton output is now ten times what it was ten years ago.
（5）倍数+that/those of
In this workshop the output of July was 3.5 times that of January.
