Starting this autumn semester, students at primary and middle schools in Beijing have longer breaks between classes. It has been changed from 10 minutes to 15 minutes so that students can spend more time outdoors for their physical and mental (心理的) well-being.
During the break time between classes, Xiao Jingsheng from Beijing Shangdi Experimental School often rushed to the toilet then back to class with no time for anything else. But now that changes. “I can have more time to rest and share many things with my classmates,” says the 14-year-old boy.
To help children better enjoy break-time activities, some schools mixes break time with labor education (劳动教育) by opening planting areas and animal breeding zones (饲养区).

We get closer to nature, which is refreshing and relaxing.”

Starting this autumn semester, students at primary and middle schools in Beijing have longer breaks between classes. It has been changed from 10 minutes to 15 minutes so that students can spend more time outdoors for their physical and mental (心理的) well-being.
