1. Review
what
we
have

about
manners
in
the
UK.
2. Learn
and
master
some
language
points.
3. To
arouse
students’
interest
in
British
culture.
4. Develop
students’
comprehensive
language
competence.
Teaching
steps:
Step1.
Greetings
and
lead-in
Good
afternoon,
boys
and
girls.
It’s
good
to
say
“Good
afternoon”
to
me
as
a
greeting,
so
I
know
you
have
good
manners.
Can
you
tell
good
manners
from
bad
manners
are
Step2.

play:
1. Queue
in
two
lines
and
complete
2. Touch
the
happy
face
if
you
think
what
you
hear
is
good
manners,
otherwise,
the
sad
face.
3. The
winner
is
the
one
who
touches
the
right
face
faster
than
his/her
opponent.

1. What’s
the
proper
way
to
greet
people
in
the
UK
2. Please
avoid
subjects
like
age,
weight
or
money.
Further
thinking
1. Why
do
British
like
these
subjects
2. What
other
subjects
do
they
talk
about
What’s
the
rule
(1) Things
they
are
interested
in
(2) Topics
both
are
familiar
with
(3) Avoid
something
unpleasant
(4) Do
not
involve
privacy
and
sensitive
topics
(5) Never
gossip
(6) Don’t
judge
but
respect
people’s
religious
beliefs,
customs,
habits
and
hobbies.
3. Do
people
there
behave
politely
in
public
They’ll
say
“Excuse
me”
and
…to
wait
till
you
move.
E.g.
He
waited
for
me
until/till
our
school
was
over.
She
won’t
leave
until
he
comes
back.
British
people
are
very
polite
at
home
as
well,
aren’t
they
Step4.
Memory
check
Fill
in
the
table
about
the
text
in
five
parts,
and
then
read
it.
Step5.

Work
in
groups
of
four
or
five
and
have
an
interview.
One
act
as
a
host,
the
rest
act
as
interviewees.
Ask
and
answer.
Step6.
Extensive
learning
The
five
tips
we
have
learnt
are
not
enough
for
us
to
communicate
with
the
British
people
politely.
So
let
me
share
three
more
tips
with
you.
Table
manners
1. Speak
quietly.
2. Smile
a
lot,
but
don’t
laugh
all
the
time.
3. Don’t
take
more
food
than
you
need.
4. Drink
white
or
red
wine
with
food.
5. Glasses
shouldn’t
touch.
Receiving
a
gift
1. Open
it
at
once/
2. Say
“Thank
you!”
“What
a
nice
gift!”
Paying
a
visit
1. Make
an
appointment
before
you
go.
2. Bring
a
small
gift.
3. Don’t
bring
yellow
roses,
which
stands
for
departure.
4. Take
off
your
hat
when
you
are
in
the
house.
Step7
Play
a
game
You
have
behaved
yourselves
well
during
this
lesson,
so
I’d
like
to
give
you
a
gift
as
an
encouragement,
but
it’s
inside
one
of
the
eggs.
Are
you
brave
enough
to
stand
up
and
pick
it
out
If
you
choose
the
wrong
one,
you
still
have
a
chance
to
win
a
small
gift
by
answering
all
the
questions
correctly
inside
the
egg.
Step8
Enjoy
pictures
about
manners
Show
some
funny
pictures
about
good
and
bad
manners,
then
encourage
students
to
improve
their
manners
in
the
future.
