1. 指导思想与理论依据
本课以《英语课程标准》(2011版)关于阅读技能和情感态度的五级标准为指导,力求通过本课的设计,使学生能运用阅读策略获取信息,找寻主题句,预测故事情节,以及解读文本内涵,感受文字背后的含义,同时也发展学生的思维能力和综合语言运用能力。具体体现在以下两方面:
1. 正确使用阅读策略,提高阅读效率,形成自主学习习惯。
《英语课程标准》(2011版)提到阅读技能的五级标准时指出“能理解段落中各句子之间的逻辑关系;能找出文章中的主题,理解故事的情节,预测故事情节的发展和可能的结局;能根据不同的阅读目的运用简单的阅读策略获取信息”。在英语学习过程中,阅读策略的有效使用,不仅可以帮助学生提高学习效率,而且有助于学生形成自主学习的能力,为终身学习奠定基础。因此,在本课中,通过布置阅读任务,如回答问题,找寻主题句及支持主题句的细节和例子、预测情节、填写表格、问题追问等,提高学生运用策略快速获取信息,处理信息及分析问题和解决问题的能力,促进思维的发展,提高综合运用语言的能力。
2. 深度解读文本,挖掘文字背后的含义,锻炼克服困难的意志。
情感态度是英语课程的目标之一,课标在五级标准中谈到学生在“遇到困难时能主动请教,勇于克服困难”等。本节课通过引导学生深入挖掘文本,了解文字背后的含义, 感受成功背后的重重困难,体味成功的不易,决不轻言放弃,感悟真英雄大勇无畏,好风景总在险峰。
2. 教学背景分析
教材分析
本课所在的单元是北师大版九年级教材第七单元,本单元的内容都围绕journey这个主题,Lesson 19是一篇游记,介绍了游历丝绸之路的过程,Lesson 20是一首诗,把人生比喻成旅行,Lesson 21是南极探险,虽然是不同的旅行,但每一课学生都能体会文章的寓意,学到优良品质,这一单元既是对旅游过程的了解,也是对学生情感的洗礼。引导学生在学习和生活中要不畏困难,永不言弃。
本课是第七单元的 Lesson 21 To the South Pole,是一节阅读课,内容为南极探险。在八年级上册教材第三单元, Lesson 9 Together To the Poles也是讲南北极探险,虽然后者侧重于歌颂世界最年轻的探险者Janek Mela不放弃的精神,但其中也谈到了南北极探险需要的准备以及困难。本课主要讲述作者南极探险遇到的重重困难,他们是怎么克服困难的,以及对到达目的地后的美好憧憬和作者通过探险旅程获得的深度感慨。两课内容有相通之处。
本课主要对文本进行了整体梳理,通过第一段老师带着学生分析主题句,引导学生找寻二到五段的主题句;通过老师带着学生预测每个主题句的支持细节和例子,找寻文本每个主题句的支持细节和例子;通过分析由克服困难到成功的过程,了解文字背后的含义,体会每个成功的背后都是困难重重,不要轻言放弃。
二、学情分析
本班学生处于初三年级上学期,对于英语阅读学习中需要使用的策略有所掌握,如阅读中的预测,获取大意和关键信息,找寻主题句和大意等;在课前的预习作业中,学生已经通过各种媒介对南极探险有所了解,为学习本课内容做了铺垫。在情感态度价值观方面,现在的学生大多为独生子女,且几乎没有在逆境中磨练的经历,孩子都很有个性,可以说很任性。因此在课文处理方面,除了分析文章结构,理解文本内容,抓住关键信息,找寻主题句及支持主题句的细节之外,更侧重于在情感上对学生进行熏陶,启发他们通过作者克服重重困难终于到达南极的事例,了解作者和队友的品质,体会成功来之不易,决不轻言放弃。
3. 教学目标 (含重、难点)
教学目标:
能够根据自己对南极的了解推测南极探险可能遇到的困难;
能够通过阅读有关南极探险的文本,找到2-5段探险中遇到的各种困难的主题句,推测支持主题 句的细节信息,并能找到本文中支持主题句的细节信息;
能够通过解读文本中南极探险所遇到的困难,以及作者和队友怎样面对困难,解决困难,挖掘作者和队友的品质,并能用一些动词和形容词来描绘;
能够通过阅读本文,体会南极探险的不容易,学会不畏困难,不言放弃。
教学重点:
能够通过阅读有关南极探险的文本,找到文本每段的主题句,并能找到支持主题句的细节信息。
教学难点:
解读文本中南极探险所遇到的困难,以及作者和队友怎样面对困难,挖掘作者和队友的品质。
解决措施:
布置课前作业,让学生通过各种媒介搜集有关南极探险的内容,为本文的学习作铺垫。
让每个学生准备一个自己所敬佩的人的故事,他或她是如何克服困难取得成功的的,用形容词来描绘这个人的品质,用动词来描绘这个人的行为。

通过三选一猜测支持主题句的信息或例子,为下一步找寻支持主题句的细节和例子打下基础,也能帮助学生在以后的阅读中很好地预测和理解细节信息,并为今后的写作奠定基础。
