Read the passage and underline the predicatives.
One of my biggest dreams had always been to see the painting Girl with a Pearl Earring, by the Dutch artist, Vermeer. It wasn't until we went on a trip to The Hague last year that this dream came true! There were lots of people waiting to enter the Mauritshuis. Although my legs were tired from walking around the city, I was determined to see the painting, which is often called the “Mona Lisa of the North”.
Nobody is sure of the identity of the girl in it. And there she was. It was amazing to be standing in front of her at last! The girl is looking over her shoulder. Her eyes are wide and her mouth is parted, just as if she were about to speak. I would love to know what she was going to say!

1. What else do you know about Pablo Picasso and Feng Zikai
2. What do you think of the two artists' artworks
Pablo Picasso is the most famous artist of the 20th century. He was at the cutting edge of new artistic styles including Cubism (立体派). He was incredibly productive and created about 50,000 paintings, sculptures, ceramics (陶瓷艺术品) and drawings.
Pablo Picasso
(1881-1973)
The Blue and Rose Periods are two important periods in Picasso’s work. The Blue Period, which lasted from 1901 to 1904, was heavily influenced by the death of his friend, Casagemas. He used blue paint to express his sadness at his friend’s death. Death of Casagemas is an example of his Blue Period works. During the Rose Period, from 1904 to 1906, Picasso was interested in painting circus (马戏团) dancers. He used pink and rose colors to convey the beauty of these circus figures.
However, Picasso is most famous for his contributions to cubism, which is a style of art that uses broken lines and cube-like shapes in unusual positions to represent people and objects. Picasso’s The Guitar is an example of cubist painting.
Pablo Picasso was both an artist and a celebrity (名人) because the media took such an interest in this gifted and unusual man. He died in 1973, in France, and left behind an enormous number of works which are shown in both museums and private collections across the world.
