Children’s Day Job Experience Day (儿童节职业体验日) is an event for kids to experience different jobs. Of course, kids can’t do dangerous jobs like firefighters or pilots. But the event offers them many interesting jobs, such as bakers, nurses, and postmen.

Lisa, 8, worked as a baker for a day. “I learned to make cookies with the chef. It was hard but fun. When I gave the cookies to my parents, they were very happy,” said Lisa. “I also learned that making food takes a lot of time and effort.”
Mike, 9, was a nurse for a day. “I helped the doctor take care of a little girl with a fever. I took her temperature and gave her water,” said Mike. “I felt proud when the girl stopped crying. I want to be a real nurse when I grow up.”
Emma, 10, worked as a postman. “I delivered letters to different houses. I had to find the right addresses and greet the people politely,” said Emma. “I learned how to communicate with others and be responsible (责任感的) for my work.”

In fact, when I said that I hoped to major (主修) in English and communications, she nearly had a heart attack.
“Why can’t you be like my co-worker’s son ” she asks me all the time. Her co-worker’s son got into a good university and is now earning 70,000 dollars a year as an engineer. I don’t know what to answer. I simply can’t be like Mr. Perfect. I am just a common man who loves to help out in the neighborhood. Most people like me because I always get on well with them. The only thing I like best is to write until the sun goes down, and most of all, I really want to achieve (实现) the dream of becoming a writer because I love it and feel happy when doing it, not because of a fame or salary (薪水).
I understand why my mother is worried about my future major. I’ve seen how hard my mother tries to raise me on her small salary and work long hours. She leaves the house at 6:30 a.m. and comes back home until 7:30 p.m. every day. However, I want her to know _______________________

Scientists find that hard-working people can live longer than idle (不工作的) people. Career women are healthier than housewives. Evidence shows that the jobless are in poorer health than the job-holder. A report shows that whenever the unemployment rate (失业率) increases by 1%, the death rate increases by 2%. All this comes down to one point: Work is helpful to our health.
Why is work good for health It is because work keeps people busy, away from loneliness. Research shows that people feel not only unhappy but also worried when they have nothing to do. Instead, the happiest are those who are busy. Many high achievers who love their careers feel that they are happiest when they are working hard. Work serves as a bridge between man and reality. By work, people come into contact with each other. If people take part in some activities, they can find friendship and warmth. This is helpful to health. The loss of work sometimes means the loss of everything. It affects man in spirit and makes him easy to get ill.
Besides, work gives one a sense of fulfillment (充实感). Work makes one feel his value in society. When a writer finishes his writing or a doctor successfully operates on a patient or a teacher sees his students grow, they are happy beyond words.
From the above we can know that the more you work, the happier and healthier you will be. Let us work hard and study well and live a happy and healthy life.

“We see colours everywhere; we use them a lot and sometimes our life may be changed because of them,” said Verity Allen. In a new programme “Colour Me Healthy”, Verity looks at the ways that colours can influence how hard we work and the choices we make. They can change our feelings and even influence how healthy we are.
“Have you ever noticed how people always use the same colours for the same things ” says Verity. “Our toothpaste (牙膏) is always white or blue. It’s seldom grey. Why not For some reason we think that blue and white are clean, while we usually think of grey products (产品) as being a bit dirty and unpleasant. It’s the same for business. We respect a company which writes its name in blue or black more than other colours. People who design new products can use these ideas to influence what we buy.”
There are also some other interesting facts about colours in our life. We use red, yellow and green as the traffic lights because they are most easily seen. The environmental protection colour is usually “green” because it lets us think of the green trees, grasses and mountains.
23.What colour is our toothpaste
24.Why are traffic lights red, yellow and green
25.What do we usually think of grey products
26.What’s Verity’s opinion (观点) about colours
27.What else do you know about the use of colours in daily life (Please give an example)

Dopamine Dressing
Have you seen “dopamine (多巴胺) dressing” on your social media It’s one of the most popular fashion trends for 2023.
First created by US fashion psychologist Dawnn Karen in her book Dress Your Best Life in 2020, dopamine dressing—to put it simply—is dressing for joy. Through brightness and purity of colors, the dressing is aimed to create joyful emotions for people.
Science showed long ago that different colors can affect people. They could make us feel warmer or cooler and also affect our feelings. For example, bright colors can make people feel lively. Colors like black, white and grey may bring a sense of sadness instead.
Learning how colors work, fashion brands have also used colors in different ways. For example, Versace, an Italian brand, added the idea of dopamine dressing to their clothes in 2021. It said: “This can spread fun and positive energy to the world through fashion.” In the last few years, the pandemic has put everything into question. “Usually, we’re dressing for external factors—the weather, other people and special events. During the pandemic, there was a change. Since no one was around to tell you what to wear, you let yourself find styles that make yourself happy,” Karen told TODAY.
Now, many people take this style to fight back bad feelings and show themselves. “I’ve seen people who are very shy put on colorful clothes and become ... free,” Karen said. “Their whole mood changes when they wear clothes that show who they really are.”

You may have much homework to do every day. Homework is an important part of school. Your teachers can know how much you have learned in class through your homework, and it helps you remember what you have learned. Luckily, you can do a few things to make homework less work.
First, be sure to know your homework. Write it down in your notebook, and don’t be afraid of asking questions about your homework. It’s much easier to take a minute to ask the teacher in or after class than to try to remember later that night!
Second, use extra (额外的) time in school to do your homework. Many schools have study halls. Students can study and do homework there. It’s interesting to hang out (闲逛) with friends during the lunch break (休息). However, the more work you finish in school, the less you’ll have to do that night. It’s difficult to keep your attention for too long. So take a break while doing your homework.
Third, make a homework schedule (时间表). If you don’t finish your homework at school, think about how much you have left and what else is going on that day, and then make a plan about your time. Most high school students have between 1 and 3 hours of homework a night. If it’s a heavy homework day and it seems like you’ve got homework in every subject, you’ll need more time to finish it. So, you really need to make a homework schedule.

The human brain is only two percent of our total body weight, but it needs about 20% of the oxygen that our body takes in. We can’t think well if our brain isn’t getting enough oxygen. No one can remember everything, but everyone can learn how to improve their memory. Here are some tips—none of them can make your memory 100% perfect, but all of them are helpful:
________ This way the new information becomes more memorable. Later on, think about the conversation with your friend. It will remind you of the information you wanted to remember.
________ When you’ve remembered a list of new words, stop studying. It’s better to study a lot of material for a small amount (数量) of time than a small amount of material for a lot of time! But remember: you do have to practice your new words often!
________ If you want to remember something, go to bed right after learning it. That is to say, it’s always a good idea to review what you’ve learned before bedtime.

How To Improve Your Speech
Not being able to speak clearly can make you feel bad about yourself. But more than 80 million people around the world stutter (口吃), so you are not alone. Here are some tips to help you improve your speech.
Practice speaking slowly
Spend 5 to 10 minutes each day practicing slow speech. Choose a topic you know well, and then talk about it without notes. This practice helps you think before you speak, just like in real conversations.
56
Did you know that more than 100 muscles (肌肉) in your mouth help you talk So there are lots of ways to make a sound. If one way isn’t working, try another.
57
Another idea is to record yourself while reading aloud. Many people don’t like listening to their recorded voice. But if you can do that, you’ll be able to find out what sounds you’re having problems with, so you know what you need to practice.
58
Telling people you stutter before you talk to them might sound like a nightmare (噩梦), but it can really help if you get nervous talking to people. Telling them about your stutter stops you from worrying about what they might think if you happen to stutter during the conversation.
59
Sometimes you find the greatest help just from talking to someone else who’s going through the same thing as you. You can understand each other and also share tips and speech exercises that have worked for you.
A.Join a support group B.Change how you make sounds C. Record and listen to your voice D.Be open about your stutter E. Sing along with your favorite songs

Everyone is born with the ability to learn. But whether or not you can do this well depends on your learning habits. Research shows that successful learners have some good habits in common.
Creating an interest in what they learn
Studies show that if you are interested in something, your brain is more active and it is also easier for you to pay attention to it for a long time. Good learners often connect what they need to learn with something interesting. For example, if they need to learn English and they like music or sports, they can listen to English songs or watch sports programs in English. This way they will not get bored.
Practicing and learning from mistakes
Good learners think about what they are good at and what they need to practice more. Remember, “Use it or lose it!” Even if you learn something well, you will forget it unless you use it. “Practice makes perfect.” Good learners will keep practicing what they have learned, and they are not afraid of making mistakes. Alexander Graham Bell did not invent the telephone overnight. He succeeded by trying many times and learning from his mistakes.
Developing their study skills
It is not enough to just study hard. Good learners know the best ways they can study. For example, they may take notes by writing down key words. They also look for ways to go over what they have learned. They may do this by reading their notes every day or by explaining the information to another student.
Asking questions
Good learners often ask questions during or after class. They even ask each other and try to find out the answers. Knowledge comes from questioning.
Learning is a lifelong journey because every day brings something new. Everything that you learn becomes a part of you and changes you, so learn wisely and learn well.
61.According to the passage, what can make you become a successful learner
62.What do good learners often do
63.Why is it important to practice using what you’ve learned
64.According to the writer, how may good learners take notes

“The 2026 Winter Olympics might be my last Olympics. Whatever the result will be, I have only one goal to be better than my earlier results, ” 34-year-old Olympic champion Xu Mengtao once said.
Xu was born in Liaoning Province in 1990. Her parents sold mutton skewers (羊肉串) and Xu often helped out during holidays. Xu learned gymnastics (体操) at the age of 4. And then she changed to freestyle skiing aerials (自由式滑雪空中技巧) at the age of 12, when she was considered too tall to continue gymnastics.

Unluckily, she failed to get a gold medal, although she tried her best. But failures and pains didn’t stop her. Xu finally realized her dream at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, by completing triple flips (三周空翻) on her final jump.
In her book, Xu writes down her true feelings about her life over the past years, her memories of heart—stopping international competitions, the number of medals she won, the low points she managed to overcome and her full preparations for each competition. “Plan each jump, review each problem and look for every possibility. The real situation is unpredictable, so I have to be fully prepared, ” Xu wrote in her book.
