as/so long as(只要……,就……)
only if (除非,只要……, 就…… ,
supposing(如果,假如);
in case(以防,万一);
on condition (that)...
GrammarThe adverbial clause of condition 1) If it rains next Wednesday, the sports meeting will be cancelled.
2) You will fail to arrive there in time unless you start earlier.
Grammar 3) As long as you promise to come, I’ll wait for you until you come.
4) As ( So) long as you work hard, you can make rapid progress in English.
5) You can make progress only if you are modest. GrammarThe adverbial clause of condition 6) One can grasp a foreign language only if he studies hard.
7) He will sign the contract provided we offer more favorable terms.
8) Supposing it rains tomorrow, shall we have the sports meeting?
GrammarThe adverbial clause of condition 9) In case it rains, do not expect me.

12) He can speak to reporters on condition that he is not identified.
GrammarThe adverbial clause of condition 1) if 与 unless 的区别:
if 表示正向条件 ---- “如果”;
If he comes here tomorrow,we’ll have the meeting.
The sports meet will begin tomorrow unless it rains.
Grammar【温馨提示】 2) only if与if only的用法与区别:
only if ---- “只要”,它所引导的从句用陈述语气,表示真实条件;
if only 意为 “但愿,要是……
Grammar【温馨提示】 2) only if 与 if only的用法与区别:
Only if you have persistence can you achieve success.
If only I had known it,I wouldn't have troubled him.(虚拟语气)
常用的引导词有:though/although;even if/even though;as;while;in spite of;the fact that;while;以及“no matter + 疑问词”或“疑问词 + 后缀ever” 等。 GrammarThe adverbial clause of concession 1) though,although
GrammarThe adverbial clause of concession 1) though,although
Although it was expensive, we still decided to buy it.
Though we only stay there for a few days, we had a good time.
GrammarThe adverbial clause of concession 1) though,although
Although she has a lot of money, yet (still) she is not happy.
GrammarThe adverbial clause of concession 【温馨提示】
though 除了作连词外,还可以作副词,意思为 “可是,然而”;
It was hard work, I enjoyed it, though.(连词)
GrammarThe adverbial clause of concession2) even if,even though
GrammarThe adverbial clause of concession Even if we achieve great success, we should not be proud.(假设能取得成绩或者取得成绩的把握不大。)
Even though he was late, he was not criticized.(事实上迟到了。)

Even if it rains tomorrow, I won't change my plan.
GrammarThe adverbial clause of concession 【温馨提示】
even if,even though
GrammarThe adverbial clause of concession 3) as
Child as he is, he knows a lot.(名词提前)
Improbable as it seems, it's true.(形容词提前)
GrammarThe adverbial clause of concession 3) as

Much as I respect him, I can’t agree to his proposal.(修饰动词的副词提前)
GrammarThe adverbial clause of concession【比较】
Though she is poor, she is honest.
Poor as she is, she is honest.
GrammarThe adverbial clause of concession【温馨提示】
GrammarThe adverbial clause of concession 4) “no matter + 疑问词”
(whatever;whoever;whenever;
wherever;whichever;however)
GrammarThe adverbial clause of concessionno matter + 疑问词 / 疑问词 + 后缀ever

2. The usage of adverbial clause of condition and adverbial clause of concession.
if(假如,如果);
unless(除非,若不,除非在……的时候);
as/so long as(只要……,就……);
only if(除非,只要……就,只有,只有当……);
supposing(如果,假如);
in case(以防,万一);
on condition (that)...(在条件……
1) If it rains next Wednesday, the sports meeting will be cancelled.
2) You will fail to arrive there in time unless you start earlier.

If he comes here tomorrow,we’ll have the meeting.
The sports meet will begin tomorrow unless it rains.
2) only if与if only的用法与区别:
if only意为“但愿,要是……
Only if you have persistence can you achieve success.
If only I had known it,I wouldn't have troubled him.(虚拟语气)
常用的引导词有:though/although;even if/even though;as;while;in spite of;the fact that;while;以及“no matter + 疑问词”或“疑问词 + 后缀ever” 等。
1) though,although(虽然;尽管;即使)引导让步状语从句,一般位于句首。
Although it was expensive, we still decided to buy it.
Though we only stay there for a few days, we had a good time.
Although she has a lot of money, yet (still) she is not happy.
though除了作连词外,还可以作副词,意思为“可是,然而”;
It was hard work, I enjoyed it, though.(连词)
2) even if,even though
Even if we achieve great success, we should not be proud.(假设能取得成绩或者取得成绩的把握不大。)

Even if I have to walk all the way I'll get there.
Even if it rains tomorrow, I won't change my plan.
Child as he is, he knows a lot.(名词提前)
Improbable as it seems, it's true.(形容词提前)

首先是邀请人的姓名(要用全称)或者头衔;
第二部分是“Requests the pleasure / honuor of ”,相当于汉语的“恭请”;
第三部分是被邀请人的姓名(要用全称,加’s)或者用your(泛指);
第四部分是“presence at ...”,相当于汉语中的光临;
第五部分是日期;
第六部分是时间;
Look forward to your coming;yours faithfully;Wangl Li。
(1. 邀请对方参加活动的内容、时间、地点;
(2. 与该活动有关的注意事项;
(1. We are having a ...
It will be at ...
We would like you to come.
(2. Would you like to ...?
I should be very glad if you would ...
We hope you can ...
(3. Will you do us a favour of ...
Be sure to come.
3. Write a similar passage about informal invitation.
