Photographs allow one to perfectly remember how a certain memory looked in great detail. From journaling daily for over a year, I have found that writing daily has allowed me to perfectly remember a feeling.
My journaling journey began when I took a creative writing class at my local community college. Our teacher had a required journaling element (部分) in which we had to buy a notebook and aim to write every day about anything we wished.
At first, writing daily was a boring task. I was always trying to find things to write about. I wrote on what I did that day or some news I found online.
People say it takes 21 days to form a habit, and I can prove that they are correct. After the first month or so, I would wake up every morning looking forward to making my cup of coffee, sitting down at my desk and writing down everything that happened the previous day. And I have been doing it ever since.
Passing the one year mark, I have now filled up almost five journals. This morning, I reread every single one of them and was moved to tears. I can see the ways in which I have changed and grown as a person.
Many people complain that they have nothing to write about or they simply don’t have the time to pick up the practice of journaling. I am here to tell you to banish thoughts that your life is not interesting enough or you don’t have enough time-you have thoughts, emotions and experiences that are worthwhile. One day, you will want to remember something as simple as how you felt when you woke up one Sunday morning.
56.Why does the author mention photographs in paragraph 1
A.To show the importance of recording B.To bring up the topic of journaling.
C.To encourage readers to practice photographing. D.To prove that photographing differs from journaling.
57.The author began journaling because ________.
A.it was the task of her writing class B.she had interesting things to write about
C.she wanted to improve her writing skills D.her teacher asked her to find a way to practice writing
58.At the beginning, the author thought writing daily was ________.
A.meaningful B.fresh C.creative D.difficult
59.How did the author find journaling at the end of the first month
A.It was eye-opening B.It was a very boring task.
C.It was something she expected to do. D.It was more difficult than she had thought.
60.What does the underlined word “banish” in the last paragraph probably mean
A.Go over. B.Figure out. C.Drive away. D.Write down.
【答案】56.B 57.A 58.D 59.C 60.C
根据文章第一段“Photographs allow one to perfectly remember how a certain memory looked in great detail. From journaling daily for over a year, I have found that writing daily has allowed me to perfectly remember a feeling.(照片可以让人完美地记住某个记忆的详细外观。从一年多的日记写作中,我发现每天写作让我能够完美地记住一种感觉。)”可知,作者提到照片是为了引出下文关于日记写作的话题。故选B。
57.细节理解题。根据文章第二段“My journaling journey began when I took a creative writing class at my local community college. Our teacher had a required journaling element (部分) in which we had to buy a notebook and aim to write every day about anything we wished.(我的日记写作之旅始于我在当地社区大学参加的一个创意写作课程。我们的老师有一个必须的日记写作部分,要求我们买一本笔记本,并每天写下我们想要写的任何事情。)”可知,作者开始写日记是因为这是她的写作课程的任务。故选A。
根据文章第三段“At first, writing daily was a boring task.(起初,每天写作是一项无聊的任务。)”

After the first month or so, I would wake up every morning looking forward to making my cup of coffee, sitting down at my desk and writing down everything that happened the previous day.(人们说养成一个习惯需要21天,我可以证明他们是对的。
根据上文“Many people complain that they have nothing to write about or they simply don’t have the time to pick up the practice of journaling.(很多人抱怨他们没有东西可写,或者他们根本没有时间开始写日记。)”
C
Although social media has its positive aspects, it can also have some serious negative results.
For example, have you ever been bored and decided to check social media, only to find out that your best friend is at Disneyland, one of your classmates is eating delicious pizza at your favorite restaurant, and one of your basketball teammates is climbing the Eiffel Tower in Paris
Oh, man! You’re really missing out! At least that’s what you might think. Have you ever had that feeling that others are experiencing things and enjoying life more than you are Researchers call that feeling the fear of missing out or FOMO.
FOMO is a real phenomenon that over 75% of young people report feeling from time to time. Social media is a primary culprit, because it’s so easy today to scroll through (浏览) to see what your friends are doing, eating, buying, or talking about.
Unfortunately, it would be impossible to enjoy all the same activities we see others engaged in on social media. Rather than realizing this basic truth, though, we often let FOMO lead us to compare our lives to those of others on social media. This comparison leaves us feeling dissatisfied. Why We know all the aspects of our lives — both good and bad. But all we see on social media are the picture-perfect moments others share.
FOMO leads us to check social media more frequently, leading to a negative cycle that can be hard to break. Researchers have found that social media and FOMO can lead to feelings of depression, loneliness, and boredom.
Researchers advise that we stop looking to social media for happiness. If we let FOMO control us, the only thing we’ll really be missing out on is our own life. And life’s too short for that!
61.What do we know from the example
A.People may feel bad after checking social media.
B.Many people want to climb the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
C.Many people like to share their daily lives.
D.People only check social media when bored.
62.What might the underlined word “culprit” in Para.4 mean
A.Excuse. B.Result. C.Cause. D.Problem.
63.Why do people feel dissatisfied
A.Because they don’t know all the aspects of their friends.
B.Because they haven’t been invited to their friends’ activities.
C.Because they think they don’t have a happy life.
D.Because they think their friends live better than them.
64.What can we learn from the last paragraph
A.Being driven by FOMO shortens people’s life. B.FOMO is a condition that is hard to deal with.
C.We should focus our attention on our real lives. D.We shouldn’t use social media to make friends.
65.What does the text mainly talk about
A.The history of social media. B.Some bad results of social media.
C.Some ways of social media. D.The future of social media.
【答案】61.A 62.C 63.D 64.C 65.B
根据第二段“For example, have you ever been bored and decided to check social media, only to find out that your best friend is at Disneyland, one of your classmates is eating delicious pizza at your favorite restaurant, and one of your basketball teammates is climbing the Eiffel Tower in Paris (例如,你是否曾经感到无聊,决定查看社交媒体,却发现你最好的朋友在迪斯尼乐园,你的一个同学在你最喜欢的餐馆吃美味的披萨,你的一个篮球队友正在爬巴黎的埃菲尔铁塔?)” You’re really missing out! At least that’s what you might think. Have you ever had that feeling that others are experiencing things and enjoying life more than you are Researchers call that feeling the fear of missing out or FOMO.(哦!你真是错过了!至少你可能是这么想的。你是否曾经有过这样的感觉:别人比你更有经验,比你更享受生活?研究人员称这种感觉为错失恐惧症或FOMO)”可知,从这个例子可知,人们在查看社交媒体后可能会感觉不好。故选A。
You’re really missing out! At least that’s what you might think. Have you ever had that feeling that others are experiencing things and enjoying life more than you are Researchers call that feeling the fear of missing out or FOMO.(哦!你真是错过了!至少你可能是这么想的。你是否曾经有过这样的感觉:别人比你更有经验,比你更享受生活?研究人员称这种感觉为错失恐惧症或FOMO)”以及划线词后文“because it’s so easy today to scroll through (浏览) to see what your friends are doing, eating, buying, or talking about(因为今天很容易就能看到你的朋友在做什么、吃什么、买什么或在谈论什么)”可知,“Social media is a primary culprit(社交媒体是主要culprit)”表达的意思是:社交媒体是人们产生错失恐惧症的一个主要原因。
根据倒数第三段“Rather than realizing this basic truth, though, we often let FOMO lead us to compare our lives to those of others on social media. This comparison leaves us feeling dissatisfied. Why We know all the aspects of our lives — both good and bad. But all we see on social media are the picture-perfect moments others share.(然而,我们并没有意识到这个基本事实,而是经常让FOMO引导我们把自己的生活和社交媒体上其他人的生活进行比较。这种比较让我们感到不满意。为什么?我们知道生活的方方面面——好的和坏的。但我们在社交媒体上看到的都是别人分享的完美瞬间)”可知,人们会感到不满是因为他们认为他们的朋友过得比他们好。故选D。
64.细节理解题。根据最后一段“Researchers advise that we stop looking to social media for happiness. If we let FOMO control us, the only thing we’ll really be missing out on is our own life. And life’s too short for that!(研究人员建议我们不要再从社交媒体上寻找快乐。
D
People generally see themselves through achievements. In doing that, they end up caring more about their image than the reality of who they actually are. Rather than their work doing the talking, they end up defining themselves by external markers that they hope will earn them respect.
The problem with this is that it encourages both themselves and other people to judge their worth based on some relatively unimportant measure. For example, one day, their educational diploma may overshadow what they actually learned. Therefore, a better way to know a person, I think, is to ask a different set of questions: What motivates them What makes them ache What do they long for
It’s in this spirit that I want to publicly share my values. They are the compass (罗盘) that guides my life. The kindest and most sincere thing I can do is to see, recognize, and understand another person before I make judgments. From there, I can learn to treat others appropriately, depending on the context, learning from my mistakes with time and experience. It’s just a reminder that life is hard for all of us, while at the same time accepting that it’s important we are all also held accountable for our actions.
I have learned that we are all deeply self-interested. I hope to be self-aware enough to check out of the power and status games. That means I’m not competing with anyone for a shiny object; I’d rather compete with myself. It’s about becoming so uniquely different that it would be an insult (侮辱) for me to measure myself against someone else. I believe if I do the work to be internally free from the pull of the power and status games, then I can add value to others based on my unique knowledge and experience.
If this resonates with (与……共鸣) you, I invite you to join me on this journey in understanding and relating to this complex world. It’s a wonderful mystery, and I think together we can better define it — not just personally, but also collectively.
66.According to the article, which of the following is TRUE
A.Achievements are the only thing that can help people see themselves.
B.People may misunderstand that they can only earn respect through external markers.
C.The author is someone who is keen on power games.
D.Learning from mistakes is the first step of treating others kindly.
67.In the author’s opinion, what is a better way to judge a person .
A.To know about their educational diploma first.
B.To see, recognize and understand them first.
C.To talk with them first.
D.To know what they have done first.
68.What does the underlined word“overshadow” probably mean
A.be relatively similar to. B.cause something to be stronger than.
C.make something less important. D.block off light from something.
69.Which of the following might the author agree with
A.Life is hard, so we shouldn’t criticize others when they are not responsible.
B.One should draw on wider knowledge in order to judge others objectively.
C.Everyone is unique, so showing off uniqueness is an insult to others.
D.One should see and understand another person using a real compass.
70.Why does the author write the article
A.To promote harmonious living.
B.To ask people not to judge others.
C.To call on readers to learn his values.
D.To share his values of understanding and relating to the world.
根据文章第一段“People generally see themselves through achievements. In doing that, they end up caring more about their image than the reality of who they actually are. Rather than their work doing the talking, they end up defining themselves by external markers that they hope will earn them respect.(人们通常通过成就来认识自己。在这样做的过程中,他们最终会更加关心自己的形象,而不是自己真正的模样。他们不再让工作成果来说明一切,而是用他们希望能赢得尊重的外部标志来定义自己)”可知,人们可能会错误地认为通过外部标志(如成就、地位等)来赢得尊重。故选B。
67.细节理解题。根据文章第三段“The kindest and most sincere thing I can do is to see, recognize, and understand another person before I make judgments.(我能做的最善良、最真诚的事情就是在做出判断之前,先去看清、认识和理解另一个人)”可知,作者认为判断一个人的更好方式,即首先去看清、认识和理解他们。故选B。
根据划线单词所在段“The problem with this is that it encourages both themselves and other people to judge their worth based on some relatively unimportant measure. For example, one day, their educational diploma may overshadow what they actually learned.(这种做法的问题是,它鼓励自己和他人用一些相对不重要的标准来衡量自己的价值。例如,有一天,他们的学历可能会______他们真正学到的东西)”可推测,划线单词的意思应该是一个动词,表示学历可能会掩盖或使真正学到的东西变得不那么重要。因此,划线单词的意思与“掩盖”或“使……变得不那么重要”相近。选项C“make something less important(使某物变得不那么重要)”与此相符。故选C。
根据文章第二段“Therefore, a better way to know a person, I think, is to ask a different set of questions: What motivates them What makes them ache What do they long for (因此,我认为,要了解一个人,更好的方法是问一系列不同的问题:是什么激励着他们?是什么让他们痛苦?他们又渴望什么?)”以及第三段“The kindest and most sincere thing I can do is to see, recognize, and understand another person before I make judgments.(我能做的最善良、最真诚的事情就是在做出判断之前,先去看清、认识和理解另一个人。)”
根据第三段中“It’s in this spirit that I want to publicly share my values.

When Spencer West was just five years old, he had a serious disease that resulted in the amputation(截肢)of both his legs. However, the young Canadian has never let his disability get in his way. He has shown that he could do anything a person with two legs could do, including climbing the world’s highest snow covered mountain—Mt. Kilimanjaro!
Spencer’s great adventure to get to the top of the 19,341foothigh peak began on June 13th from the small village of Naro Moru in Kenya. The team included his best friends David Johnson and Alex Meers.
For the first few days, Spencer walked 80 percent of the rocky road using his hands. Only when it became impossible would he use the wheel chair. As would be expected, the nights were very terrible—The ground underneath was rocky and the temperatures were lower than they expected.
Hard as it was, Spencer did not surrender the goal even once. However, as the road started becoming steeper(陡峭的) and rockier, his friends became worried about him—Even though
Spencer had spent over a year training for this event with his hands, they worried that he would have some serious injuries if he continued. They decided that in the last two days Spencer West would cut back his independent climb to half day and be carried the other half.
Things got more and more difficult as they got closer to the top. As the air got thinner, they suffered from sickness and the shortage of energy so that they stopped any talk—They needed all their energy to keep going. The only thought in their minds was to get to the top.
But, it was all worth it—Finally, Spencer West climbed Africa’s highest peak!

由第一段“the young Canadian has never let his disability get in his way. He has shown that he could do anything a person with two legs could do, including climbing the world’s highest snow covered mountain—Mt. Hello, everyone,
I’m thrilled to share my effective English learning methods with you. My approach is a combination of practice and devotion. I start my day with listening to English. I spend 30 minutes each day reading English news, which has significantly improved my vocabulary and comprehension. Moreover, I practice speaking English with a language exchange partner twice a week. This has helped me become more fluent and confident in expressing myself.
As a result of these methods, I’ve seen an obvious improvement in my English proficiency. I scored higher in my recent English tests and feel more comfortable participating in class discussions. Hopefully, my methods can inspire you in your language journey!
That’s all, thank you!

A.It was eye-opening B.It was a very boring task.
C.It was something she expected to do. D.It was more difficult than she had thought.

A.Go over. B.Figure out. C.Drive away. D.Write down.

B.Because they haven’t been invited to their friends’ activities.
C.Because they think they don’t have a happy life.
D.Because they think their friends live better than them.
64.What can we learn from the last paragraph
A.Being driven by FOMO shortens people’s life. B.FOMO is a condition that is hard to deal with.
C.We should focus our attention on our real lives. D.We shouldn’t use social media to make friends.
65.What does the text mainly talk about
A.The history of social media. B.Some bad results of social media.
C.Some ways of social media. D.The future of social media.

A.Achievements are the only thing that can help people see themselves.

70.Why does the author write the article

B.To ask people not to judge others.
C.To call on readers to learn his values.
D.To share his values of understanding and relating to the world.
